But when I came here i got more practice and received more one-on-one help for the content and even went from a D- to an A within the same schoolyear. This also helped me become more confident in my math skills and helped me advance in my future math classes after middle school. The staff is very kind, supportive, and understanding so I felt comfortable asking questions or for extra help when I needed it. SAC so parking is fairly easy. First off, the staff here is AMAZING. Everyone is so approachable, and accommodating to my son. He likes that they have a point system to earn punches to redeem for fun prizes. My son already has his eye on getting a gift card. They also have themed spirit days during the summer like cookie day, pajama day, crazy hair day, etc. My oldest son did Kumon for a while a number of years ago. The Mathnasium system is different than Kumon as there are no worksheets that you have to bring home as additional homework. With Mathnasium there is an instructor assigned to work with a small group of students to help them understand concepts, so it feels like a semi-private tutoring session. I signed up my son, not with the goal to make him advance to high school math in 5th grade, but to help him with the basic grade level concepts that he was having trouble with. My son enjoys his sessions (which to me is already a win when a kid likes going to a math and I can see his confidence growing as he completes his mastery checks. I like that he's not stressing out about doing worksheets at home like my oldest son did with the other program. FYI, session fees for elementary school kids are less expensive than middle schoolers, so if you sign them up while they're in elementary, you can lock in the same costs even when they continue in middle school.

I loved this one male tutor, I think his name was David, so much because he never showed that he judged me and broke down concepts super simply and always encouraged me. This is how all tutors should be. But there was this one woman who went to Harvard or something who brought my mom and I into the office and basically told me it was too late for me and went on and on for a good 30 minutes-an hour about how I'd "never get into a good school" even though I had a 4.0 and I was on a good path, had clinical hours as a 13 year old, and was doing really well. She kept flexing that she went to Harvard and she could tell who would succeed or not, basically saying I'm going to fail at life because she could tell I wasn't going to make it. Ok good for you???? And surprise, she was wrong. I got into the top schools in California and am about to graduate with honors. I wasn't sure if writing a review after this long was fair, since I'm not sure if she still works there, but I still carry that negative memory with me to this day and even included this experience in my college essays. Hope she's not working there anymore and putting students down like that... Hopefully this was just a one-off experience but I'm not confident that it was, since she was way too comfortable rambling on like that. I would give one star because of her but that one tutor saved the rating a little bit.

She has also gained more confidence, her instructor is very positive and encouraging. They are extremely flexible with hours/scheduling. I can always text them for a quick and easy communication rather than calling and playing phone tag. After every session I get an e-mail with notes from her instructor sharing what they covered in the lesson and how it went with a list of things she did well and things she can continue to practice. Also, the sessions are easy to use and set up, it's just a link to click in an e-mail instead of downloading or installing Zoom or any other platform on the device. If I want them to cover any specific homework assignment, workbook, skill or even state testing practice they incorporate that into the session for us. I would highly recommend them!

He did not have a clue of what was personally happening to us, but he took ownership of his tutoring role and ensured my daughter understood her assignments. He was thorough in his teachings and explanations. He was also willing to provide addl help when needed. Unfortunately, Gilbert does not have availability this term, so Abby had to quickly find another Discrete Structures tutor for us.
