The school is incredibly well-organized, and every staff member is warm and welcoming. My daughter felt so loved and supported at Learning Tree. Two weeks ago, she took the English test for the Walnut Unified School District, and the teacher was surprised by how good her handwriting was. I know this is because of the dedication of the teachers who have helped her grow. I want to end my review by sharing a picture she drew in class. It's hanging on our fridge. The drawing shows her teacher smiling as my daughter raises her hand to answer a question. It says, "I love to learn." This picture touches my heart deeply. As an educator myself, nurturing a lifelong love of learning is something I've always hoped to instill in my child. We've already signed her up for the after-school program, and we can't wait to see even more growth at Learning Tree!

Why I preferred this school and encourage you to start your English journey here, because of these reasons. 1- The number of students in each class is small. it is between 3 - 7 students. You will feel like you are with a private tutor. You have plenty of time to ask questions and participate to improve your speaking skills. 2- If you plan to take IELTS or TOEFL, this is the right program. The materials they use are from the company "publisher" who write these exams. So, they hit two birds with one stone. You will learn English and prepare for the exam. 3- The staff are amazingly helpful and understand any issue the students have. Also, they always surprise us with wonderful activities and contests. They have four awesome staff each of them welcomes us with a huge smile and a wonderful attitude. They are Kimberley Wong, Marcie, Celia, Amy. Last Advice, attending English school will not make you speak English fluently, you need to practice and review everything you took consistently.

Located near Rowland High School, it's in a quiet neighborhood so I was rather taken aback that it had been here for a long time. RACE has such a wide range of classes varying from art classes for adults to swim classes for children. The office staff is very attentive and provides a lot of information to inquiring visitors. My mom has taken a digital photography course to advance her photography skills as well as the Introduction to Reiki course years ago, which she highly recommended for me to take as it taught her essential massaging techniques that she still utilizes. Also, I recently enrolled my little brother into the karate class offered by the Recreation Department, and he loved it! It's very affordable and the instructor created a welcoming and fun environment for the kids. I highly recommend this school, especially for those who would love to spend time learning about something new. You never know what you'll learn!

They all know my son and always greeting to him on the hallway, even after he graduated almost one year ago. The younger age room 2 teachers took so good care of my son. Ms. Griselda was always reading and playing with the kids when I picked up my son in the late afternoon. she always shared with me how my son was eating that specific day and other fun facts about him, before I ask. Still also remember how nice and warm Ms. Cecilia was when I didn't make it for Mother's Day activity. They took a lot of pictures and greeted to me with so much love that day when I picked my son up. All the way up to room 6, Ms. G focus more on good behavior and learning. While strict, she is also a fun teacher. My son likes her so much and came back everyday telling me things that Ms. G shared. He also learned so much things, art, math, geology, etc. The school also host many activities and kids performance through the year, my husband enjoyed this a lot. I attended Alpha Math and Science as a junior in high school. I am writing this review years later…read morebecause I still think about this experience, and I genuinely believe students and parents deserve to know how damaging a teacher's behavior can be toward young people. The way this program was structured was that students were encouraged to come in early for additional help. That was repeatedly emphasized as a way to succeed. At the time, I was 16 years old and under an extreme amount of stress. I had a calculus test the following day, was overwhelmed, and already anxious because the class itself was marketed as preparation but felt stressful from the start. Because I wanted help, I came in early as instructed. A TA was helping me before class started. She was kind, calm, and supportive. I sat in the front of the classroom with the TA seated next to me. When class officially began, I immediately stopped working independently and began taking notes like everyone else. The TA stayed seated next to me and would occasionally tap my shoulder to quietly point out a correction or clarification on my work. When that happened, I responded quietly and respectfully. I was not talking to classmates, not distracting anyone, and not being disruptive in any way. This continued for about thirty minutes. Then the TA left. The moment she walked out, the instructor suddenly began screaming at me at full volume in front of the entire class. As a 16 year old student, being screamed at by a grown adult in front of my peers was terrifying. I had been in his class for over a year at that point. I was always quiet, attentive, and respectful, and I had never been a problem student. He continued yelling at me aggressively in both English and Chinese. I do not speak or understand Chinese well, which made the situation even more confusing and frightening. When I could not respond properly because I did not understand what he was saying, he became even angrier. He accused me of being disrespectful and intentionally talking during class, even though I had only been responding quietly to the TA earlier. At one point, he accused me of intentionally tripping the TA as she left, claiming I had done it on purpose. In reality, her foot had simply caught on a loose backpack string. The accusation was shocking and completely untrue. I began crying uncontrollably in front of the entire class. He did not stop yelling. He continued berating me while I stood there frozen, embarrassed, and scared. What made this even more unsettling was that staff members came into the classroom during this incident and simply stood there watching. I had seen similar situations before where staff would appear when he yelled at other students, which made it clear that this behavior was not unusual. Eventually, he stormed out of the classroom. The entire atmosphere was ruined. I felt horrible not only for myself but also for the other students whose learning time was lost because of his inability to control his temper. After the short break, his wife came in to teach the second half of the class. While I was still crying and visibly shaken, she told me that if I needed extra help, I should come in early. That sentence completely broke me. I had come in early. I had followed exactly what the program instructed students to do. I was exhausted, scared, and speechless. I regret not saying anything in that moment, but I was a timid teenager who had just been publicly humiliated by a teacher. I gathered my things, left immediately, and never returned to Alpha Math and Science. After I left, friends who stayed in the class later told me that the instructor would frequently mention me during lessons. He told them to tell me that he would offer me free classes if I came back. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of how he treated me, and no accountability. Just an offer of free classes, as if access to his teaching excused the way he behaved. I did not need his class then, and I do not need it now. Today, I am in college at UC Berkeley with a job lined up. I have learned from many professors, including award winning ones, who are demanding, disciplined, and high standard without being cruel or humiliating. Looking back, I now understand how harmful a teacher with poor emotional control and a lack of emotional intelligence can be to a young student's confidence and well being. These classes are expensive, and in my experience, they made no meaningful positive impact on my academic success. What they did leave behind was stress, fear, and lasting emotional damage. There are better resources out there. No test score, class, or program is worth feeling unsafe, belittled, or scared in a learning environment. I hope this review helps students and parents make a more informed decision.

SAC so parking is fairly easy. First off, the staff here is AMAZING. Everyone is so approachable, and accommodating to my son. He likes that they have a point system to earn punches to redeem for fun prizes. My son already has his eye on getting a gift card. They also have themed spirit days during the summer like cookie day, pajama day, crazy hair day, etc. My oldest son did Kumon for a while a number of years ago. The Mathnasium system is different than Kumon as there are no worksheets that you have to bring home as additional homework. With Mathnasium there is an instructor assigned to work with a small group of students to help them understand concepts, so it feels like a semi-private tutoring session. I signed up my son, not with the goal to make him advance to high school math in 5th grade, but to help him with the basic grade level concepts that he was having trouble with. My son enjoys his sessions (which to me is already a win when a kid likes going to a math and I can see his confidence growing as he completes his mastery checks. I like that he's not stressing out about doing worksheets at home like my oldest son did with the other program. FYI, session fees for elementary school kids are less expensive than middle schoolers, so if you sign them up while they're in elementary, you can lock in the same costs even when they continue in middle school.
