My daughter has been attending Sylvan Glendora for more than a year and we have experienced a positive impact from here tutoring. She has problems word recognition and phonics. they have various tools to help her learn words. the tutors are engaging and Fernanda the manager does very well with accommodating your needs. We also like that Sylvan will communicate with the school teacher to coordinate learning. We even gave them some books to help using the Ortan Gillingham Dyslexia teaching and they are integrating that as well. Finally there is a monthly meeting to review the current and ongoing teaching. That also do a text after a certain amount of tutoring hours to see your child's progress. We have been at Sylvan learning center for about 6 months (by choice) but with just the hours recommended from the instructor my daughter has improved significantly academically. Sylvan was a lifesaver for my oldest son who was failing math as a junior. Within a few weeks he was able bring his grade up to a c and avoid having to repeat the class. My daughter Chloe started Sylvan in September we made the decision to enroll her here because she was struggling in reading and writing and I had heard great things about the programs offered. I said I would only have her go for 5 months to help her catch up on her reading skills. My son seems to really like it here. He has struggled though school for a couple years and reading at home was always a fight but now that he has started here at sylvan he is more then happy to read. I love the test they do in the beginning so they can teach him the things he struggles with and not waste time teaching things he really excels in. Everyone here has been super nice and helpful, my son is very shy but seems to be opening up to the teachers here quickly. I love that he is able to get one on one time with a teacher because let's all be honest that rarely happens at school. I can honestly say that so far it has been worth the money and time. I know it can be pricy but for us my son was almost 3 years behind and they are confident they can help him. I tried to get help through the district but my son was not a candidate for special education but still not reaching grade level standards so this is when I turned to Sylvan. Started my son here for prep for high school. I ended up being disappointed and he felt it was a waste of time. We ended up quitting early and because we did not give two weeks notice, we had to pay the additional $200.00. Teachers appeared meek, atmosphere was cold and uninviting. Having my son sit and do homework while the teacher watches him, along with another student and I am paying $50+ per hour for this. No thanks - I do not recommend wasting your money! read more

My daughter was running late and asked if I would take my granddaughter to her Monday appt. at Sylvan Learning in Glendora. This was the first time I had been to Sylvan and I could not have been more pleased. Clean, uncluttered learning environment as well as I- pads for each student to use. I have never been to a worse place. I came here to take a Practice SAT test because I wanted to try Sylvan. Previously I went to Princeton Prep, which went great but I wanted to try something else. First of all, as I took my test my VERY loud supervisor was answering calls right next to me completely disrespecting me testing trying to concentrate. Second, my test was 4 hours long and my teacher didn't give me proper breaks, she didn't give me a proper schedule to tell me when I can take breaks. I was starving and usually their comes a time in the PSAT where they give you a 10 or 15 minute break, but nope, I did not get that. Third of all, I got to a section on my test that was written on and used and had a bunch of side notes on it. I told my supervisor it was a used test and she really could have cared less. She replied saying, "I don't know what to tell you this is what I was told to give." Lastly, or should I say, WORSTLY, as I am sitting in this big open learning center room, 10 KIDS all ages about 6-8 years old were learning English and Math right next to me. YES, RIGHT NEXT TO ME as I am taking a BIG test were it should be nothing but quite I am placed right next to 6-8 year old kids who were very loud as well as their very loud teachers. Obviously, I do not blame the kids for them being loud but rather the person who scheduled us all at the same time. I could not even concentrate. I got to a section on my test for reading comprehension, and guess what, I could not even comprehend what I was reading because I couldn't concentrate because what person is tested in a loud room! I might as well have been taking a test in a concert. Terrible experience. That whole 35 minute reading comprehension section I just sat their filling in random bubbles and then sat their waiting for my time to be up. I would strongly advice anyone to NEVER take a PRACTICE SAT or PRACTICE ACT their. Absolutely the worst testing experience. I would never recommend it to anyone and I hope I can get a refund. read more
