Downtown Branch YMCA - Hallways--kind of confusing to get around

Downtown Branch YMCA

I am used to the Columbus YMCA (best in the nation) so take my review with a grain of salt!…read more This location was decent for a workout, but not my favorite gym. They had a good amount of rooms/machines, but it was difficult to find what I wanted and I asked for directions at the front desk twice. The building is large and not really set up for a gym as far as I could tell. Maybe this building is also some sort of school? There seemed to be lots of classrooms. When I found the weight room it was overall a good experience. There were 3 stair masters--I took the 3rd and last available. There were 2 squat racks--I took the last available. There were still plenty of open machines, but nothing compared to what I'm used to. The walking track is the biggest downside by fair in my opinion. There is about a 6" slope from one side to the other width-wise at one point which is not only inconvenient, but very dangerous in my opinion! I opted to get my steps outside, but there were plenty of treadmills available. The locker rooms looked fine although I didn't use them, I saw several options while wandering around looking for the gym. The front desk attendant was very kind in helping me find my way, I was very thankful they have someone on staff for this reason! I also wish there would have been free parking and sweat towels for use, as I am used to these things, but this may just be at my location. Overall I would definitely come back in a pinch, but will probably try a different location next time I'm in Omaha.

I love the indoor track here, the layout and the overall atmosphere of this YMCA. But when I go…read moreinto the Olympic weight area it's always got at least 2 bars fully loaded from the night before (I go very early). It's disappointing that no one has the etiquette to rack their stuff. I like that they have a lot of different options for weights besides the Olympic room and they have a heavy weight bag that I enjoy using!

OK, so I gave myself a month before doing a review. I used to go to the other twenty four hour…read morefitness chain before moving downtown and selecting this for my new gym. Being open 24 hours is a huge thing to me, as is convenience. It's literally 5 minutes for me to get here. So this place is in the bottom of this massive brick warehouse that I'm sure everyone has seen at one point or another while downtown. It's really neat going to a gym in such a cool, old building, right at the edge of the Old Market. They have everything I could possibly want here, without going overboard. No it does not have a pool. Or a steamroom. Or that extra stuff you can go get a lifetime or your other pretentious gyms. I just wish it had one more bench press....It has one bench press/squat rack combo and a smith machine next to it. Most of the time when I go there's like 2 people in here so it works perfect. I love it not being crowded. Free weights everywhere, the dumbbells are awesome, the machines are super nice if not strange for the weight labeling on them....Treadmills and exercise bikes (They need another bike by the way) and tons of legs machines. They have a big nice, new, aerobics room (which I never use) if you're into that stuff. There's no lockers, but you have some cubby holes to put your stuff in while you lift. They have a small selection of supplements up front you can purchase too. My favorite thing is just how nice and new all of the equipment is. My last gym everything was falling apart and rusty. Worst thing is having to pay the meter, but it's really not a big deal.

Tried canceling or even get info on how to cancel my contract. Charged me gym improvements during there construction of taking a wall down. No new equipment or activity area just took a wall down. I'm highly disappointed & upset with my experience with Anytime fitness downtown Omaha. I wish there was more to do than write reviews at this point. I hope this review finds you well Anytime Fitness.

I stopped in for a 3G class on a long roadtrip on our way back home from a roadtrip from Colorado…read moreto Indiana, and I was super impressed with this location! Sacha was the instructor and she was super motivating and encouraging. My lower back was giving me issues (to be expected after driving for 2 days!), and she gave me plenty of advice on form and modifications. If my HR monitor didn't die halfway through the class, I think I could say that this was maybe one of my best classes yet! Everyone at this studio was very nice, and you absolutely cannot beat the location. There was plenty of metered parking on a Saturday morning, and was a very short walk from The Farnam. I would highly recommend this location for any locals, and definitely stop by if you're in town visiting as well! I will definitely be back if I find myself in Omaha again.

They keep you moving between stations (treadmill, rower, and weights) and workouts are never the same so you never get bored. Not to mention you're always working different muscles too. I love the heart rate monitor and how you can see on the screen whether you're killing it (or being a wuss) and how many calories you've burned. Also really like that the instructors show you modifications for the floor/weight exercises for those of us who are wimpy or not-so-fit. *Raises hand.* FYI - For your 1st visit they will ask you to come in 30 minutes before class. This is to sign paperwork, get a little tour, be shown how to properly use the equipment, and get set up with a heart rate monitor. Also, your 1st class is totally free.
