We were required in elementary school to take part in the school band or orchestra for 5th grade with 6th grade optional (I took part both full academic years: 2002 to 2004), so with an older sibling and me, my parents were looking for reliable music stores. There was a Kennelly Keys close to the house, as well as this Kennelly Keys, that we habitually frequented. This was our destination for questions needing further answering and products not available closer to the house. Workers were friendly and the store well organized. When choosing my musical instrument for band, I decided I wanted to play the alto saxophone. My parents were okay with my choice so long as it was not as pricey as my sister's cello. On one of our visits to this location, the store was having a big sale on used instruments and they had a working alto saxophone available for a good deal. So, I got my first alto saxophone that day. I used it for both years and held on to it for a while before eventually parting with it. It worked well and served its purpose reliably.

We've been so happy with the work you and your team have put into my son. His love of music is…read morepalpable ever since he started with ya'll. Even more impressive to me is his new budding understanding of music theory and his ability to apply what he learns at School of Rock to multiple instruments. Just the other week he wrote his first song on our keyboard that mainly collects dust.....and it really sounded great! I can only credit that to the skill set he's developing with School of Rock! I, on the other hand, have been blown out of the water with my bass teacher, Evan. He is hands down the best music teacher I've ever had. I was a bit nervous to begin taking lessons again as an adult....mainly because I know I had developed some "bad habits" in playing, lost a lot of the knowledge of music theory I had prior to taking a 10ish year hiatus from playing but I also don't have a ton of interest in relearning how to sight read (or even read sheet music at all since tabs are so readily available now compared to when I was a young whipper snapper ). Evan makes learning fun, he's clearly passionate about what he does and it comes across in every interaction I have with him as well as anytime I see him interacting with another student. I appreciate so much that he does not force me to learn to read music or memorize scales, but rather takes a very pragmatic approach with me going over shapes, teaching me compositions that aren't just fun to play but improve my skill set and ability to apply what we go over to multiple aspects of playing bass (and any instrument really). Last night for example, my son finished his lesson a little ahead of me and Evan warmly welcomed him into our lesson, included him in conversation and generally treated him with kindness and respect rather than an irritating little kid which was the impression I got from many of my early music teachers. I can not say enough good things about the team at School of Rock in lynnwood. Whether you're looking for your child, or looking for yourself it is an amazing experience and worth every Penny.

Everyday they came home excited about the day's activities. Below are their thank you's to the staff last week. We look forward to another camp next summer. - Brett I found the School of Rock Camp to be extremely worthwhile. Most of the instructors there were very helpful and understanding. Our instructors regularly checked in on us when we were working on our songs. At the beginning of the week I honestly did not think that I could progress as far as I did at the end of the week with my three songs. I thought that the School of Rock's environment was very good as well. All in all, I had a wonderful time at the School of Rock's camp. ~Son (14 years old) Bassist The school of Rock camp was really great. I made at least one new friend and learned some new games. Plus I learned a new song and got better at ghost notes. Overall I think I would want to go back next summer and do it again. - Daughter (11 years old) Drummer

Buying my first personal accordion was a delight at Petosa. Even though I am new to playing and I…read moredidn't have a huge budget, I was treated with the utmost patience and kindness, and treated to genuine expertise in a low pressure environment. Ray took as much time as I needed, and educated me on some basics such as strap adjustments. He played three different instruments for me (beautifully) so I could compare them. When I finally chose my accordion, Joe Petosa Jr. (third generation) insisted on double checking that everything was just right, opening up the instrument and treating me to a glimpse of its inner workings. If I become a "real" player I may just be back in a few years to upgrade to one of the new Petosas, which are clearly the Steinways of the accordion world. Thank you!

We've had our son enrolled at Bothell Music Lessons for both violin and piano, and our experiences…read morewith the two teachers were very different. Andrew Bushnell, his violin teacher, was excellent. He guided our son thoughtfully through his lessons and kept us informed every step of the way -- explaining how our son was progressing and what the next steps should look like. That kind of communication made a real difference as parents. When our son decided he wanted to learn piano, we switched him to Mrs. Lana Kebets. Unfortunately, that experience didn't go as well. She strongly insisted that we purchase an acoustic piano, which ended up costing us thousands of dollars -- guidance we later felt was unnecessary for a beginner. She was also frequently about 5 minutes late to lessons, and overall it didn't feel like she was well-suited to teaching young children. Our son was only 5 at the time, and the approach wasn't a good fit for a child that age. We'd recommend Andrew without hesitation, but would suggest parents of very young children think carefully before choosing a piano teacher here.
