So today I had an appointment with the Mike Diamond company at 2pm to have them unclog my bathtub. Why Mike Diamond? Well, I hear their commercials all the time on the radio, so it's true what they say, the jingle sticks with you: "Smell good plumber." The plumber came to my house, and let me tell you, my bathtub was clogged, but the water was still draining pretty consistently. So I thought, "Quick snake job and we're good." Nope, the guy struggled for 45 minutes and kept giving me reasons why it wasn't draining. To make things worse, he left my bathtub in even worse condition, and now it won't drain at all. He told me that to fix it, a team would have to come on Monday. I'm thinking, "It's Friday, it's Super Bowl weekend, and I'm hosting." I told him no, and a few minutes later, he said he could have a team come tomorrow, but I politely said no. I went to Yelp right away and searched for the closest plumber near Norwalk, and Flush You Plumbing in Cerritos came up. I spoke to the owner, William, told him what happened, and he said he would send his team as soon as they finished their other jobs. I respected that since it was an emergency call. I called them around 2:42pm, and William's team, Manny and Frank, arrived at about 5:25pm according to my Ring camera. They fixed the problem in 15 minutes. I learned today to choose local businesses because they care, while big companies just offer convenience, and sometimes you won't be happy with the results. I called William to help fix my leaking toilet. I told him the issue that the bolts were corroded and broke off. He gave me a fixed price to repair, but said that since the bolts are corroded, there could be other (and major) issues. He wanted to inspect to and give a free estimate to be sure not to give me incorrect information! Highly recommend this company. William is a very honest and straightforward person of integrity. We had a shower valve that wouldn't shut-off. This was on a Sunday afternoon. William was very accommodating and came by that afternoon to look at the issue. Told me that the valve for the specialty trim I had could not be repaired by a standard Home Depot type cartridge and needed to be obtained from a plumbing supply company (which couldn't be done till Monday). When he came on Monday with the new cartridge/valve, the old one had fixed itself. (I had turned off the water and he had opened the trim to ID the valve/cartridge model, then reassembled it on the initial view on Sunday). Somehow, this fixed the problem. William recommended that I NOT fix it now and wait and see if the problem recurs, even though it meant that he did NOT get the business and had to return the valve he had gotten.
