We visited Peepsis BBQ today for our before back to school meal and enjoyed our visit and meals…read more The fried pickles were OK, but were a bit different than most. The pickles used were stackers and the batter was flour based not corn starch. They ended up being crunchier than the standard fair of fried pickles, but at the same time they didn't really make us desire more than what we had. Our main courses werent what we had expected and seemed to be lacking in flavor and tenderness. My wife had the pecan brisket, and though it may have been smoked and showed a deep smoke ring the brisket failed to deliver ultimately. Though it may have looked good, it was cold, dry, and flavorless. My daughters ribs came out cold and fatty, which should never be the case with ribs. They should be meaty, juicy, hot, and falling from the bone, the only saving grace was that they were flavorful. My slaw topped pulled pork sandwich was a treat to look at, but missed its opportunity to really deliver. Though the pork was cooked very well it certainly lacked any real flavor that a smoked meat, especially pork, should have. I'd have to say that if it had not been for the spicy BBQ sauce I may have stopped eating it. We also had ordered some sides to go with our meals which sounded amazing when they were described to us, but again they failed to deliver. For something that is chopped, with various spices, with chopped green chilis, and all wrapped in foil and cooked over a fire, you should expect the firestarter taters to be packed with flavor, in this case however they were not and that was ultimately disappointing. We finished up with peach cobbler and it looked amazing, but the crust almost seemed a bit under cooked, which is a real shame here since we absolutely love peach cobbler. The real surprise here was the waiter, he was very attentive and on the spot when it came to making sure we were well taken care of. So I'd like to give Lindsey a shout out and say well done sir, you did an excellent job.

Started out on the rocky side and unfortunately never really recovered…read more It seemed like almost the entire restaurant was seated at the same time, and the staff clearly wasn't prepared for the rush. They scheduled a restaraunt full of reservations all at the same time instead of staggering them a few minutes apart each so that they could keep up with the guests orders. Our drinks took 20-30 minutes to reach the table. I will say the bartender was working hard to keep up, but he definitely needed some help. The salad came out and was good. However, when I ordered my $68 filet, I specifically asked the waiter what it came with. He told me potatoes, and I said, "Perfect." When my steak arrived, there was rice on my plate instead. If someone had simply come back to the table and told me that potatoes were not an option that night, I would have gladly chosen a different dish. It really comes down to basic communication. Our waiter was also the only server covering our side of the restaurant, and it was obvious that he needed help as well. I don't necessarily blame him for everything because he was clearly overwhelmed. What really made the experience worse was the gentleman who came out after we expressed that we didn't like the food. His attitude was essentially "too bad", and he was extremely rude and dismissive. That kind of response to a customer is unacceptable. Unfortunately, the service issues, lack of communication, food disappointment, and especially the rude attitude at the end completely ruined the experience. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Ate here for lunch on a recommendation from a coworker while I was in town…read more Typical Texas BBQ joint atmosphere, quaint with a hint of BBQ smoke lingering in the air. The Food: WOW, absolutely amazing Texas style BBQ. I had the 2 meat plate, brisket and sausage with 2 sides, fries and beans. The portion size was Texas sized and this meal ended up being lunch and dinner. The brisket was Smokey and moist, the sausage had an excellent flavor with a good crisp on the skin. Fries are Fries, kinda hard to mess that up, and the beans were. The staff were friendly and smiling the entire time. They answered all of my questions and actually engaged us while we were there. I will definitely return here next time I am in town.

I was greeted as soon as I walked in the guy behind the counter helped me with my choices. I was looking for either 2 or 4 piece chicken tender meals since there are two of us for dinner. As far as FRIED chicken their only two options (excluding BBQ) are 3 or 5 piece tenders or a bundle of wings w/tots or fries. I opted for the 5 with tots so we both could have at least 2 tenders each. As I waited I noticed the restaurant was pretty clean, the drive thru was busy and looks like they were also getting a catering order ready for delivery. My wait wasn't that long perhaps 5-7 minutes as the chicken is cooked fresh when ordered. None of that precooked crap under a heat lamp here. We really liked our chicken tender dinner w/tots and the assorted dipping sauces on the side. Nice portion size enough for 2 people for sure. No pics to post as I forgot my camera but will definitely post pics on our next BBQ mission. They do have a nice BBQ menu and I'm not sure why their online menu doesn't show chicken tender meals???
