More details: My aunt recently passed away, she loved colorful flowers when she was alive. For her funeral, I ordered flowers from 5 different florists in the area just to get a variety of looks and to derisk just in case a certain florist have problem. I ordered a colorful standing spray named "Celebration of Life" and an all-white bouquet-in-an-urn named "White Impressions". The flower arrangements looked good but not as grand and elegant as shown in the website pictures, especially at premium level. I did not expect them to be spectacular any way because of the price point. In fact, their website prices were noticeably lower compared to others that I felt the need to upgrade to premium level, fearing that they might skim on the flowers otherwise. Hindsight, deluxe level would have been enough. After I made the order, Cris texted me a receipt. Then a few days later I wanted to make change to the accompanied messages and he followed through. In the end, I'm content with the delivered product. I have driven by this place many times. I am local. It is one of those small family "hole in the wall" places that is really a hidden treasure. So there I was... ( the beginning of most Army stories as well, although this one is about the trevails of a single Dad trying to do better at this challenge). My daughter was in the ArchBishop Curley Play Production Memories & Dreams...very nice, well done show and I do not as a general rule "do showtunes". So I needed to have the standout bouquet of the evening. I had some advantage since this was the second night of the run. Anyway, I was drawn in by the sign for $9 cash & carry dozen roses. The people who run the place upsold me (bless their souls) to a very nice set up with a mixed dozen roses, baby's breathe, greens and big bow for $18.54. I was very pleased, so was the "diva"! Many of the other parent's commented and this cool older guy keep reaching for them. This is a good place, don't let the exterior or the "location" fool you. Their arrangements have eased a very difficult recent family illness and their willlingness to include local blooms for hospital-bound gardeners was one of those considerate personal touches that will keep us as loyal customers for a long time to come. PREJUDICE! I called Flowers by Michael's around noon using my professional voice (which must have sounded far from an African American's voice) and received the information that a delivery came in that morning of and they had what could fit my order. Well, when I walked in around 4:45 the same day, less than 5 hours later, the florist had nothing close to what I needed. Now as you can see, this review and one other from 2010 are the only reviews for this business. That may be because this business is far from busy. While I was there I peeked in the back where the flowers are stored and saw several flowers which would do my order just fine. Hell, all I needed was one boutonniere (1 maybe 2 flower buds and a few baby breath stems). The florist told me he could not help me, maybe I needed to go to Raimondi's. Now in this current economy, what small business do you know will turn away a potential sale?
