I placed the order online, scheduled pick up, and moved on with my life. Unfortunately, I received an email about 5 days before I was due to pick up the arrangement essentially advising that my selection was no longer available because the flowers wouldn't be in season the month of December. Huh? They explained that they would do their best but I asked for a refund instead. Apparently there was a website issue that allowed the purchase to go through but shouldn't have. Disappointed and frustrated, I placed a last minute birthday order with a large corporation and tried to put the matter behind me. Well color me surprised when the Flowers & Fancies team sent me an arrangement to apologize for the error. I was shocked, surprised, and necessarily reminded that mistakes happen and it's best to have patience and understanding, especially for local, well meaning businesses. So I visited the Flower Cart to see what they had (after having driven by it earlier in the week). They did not have what I was looking for. The very helpful florist let me know that as soon as I inquired. I wasn't about to visit another place so I perused what they did have. They had some loose flowers that I could've purchased separately and built my own bouquet or they had one, yes one, lonely bouquet already made. It was beautiful so I opted for that. The Flower Cart was pricier than I normally pay but the quality of it was better. The recipient had nice things to say which isn't usually the case with the grocery store versions. Also, and this probably goes without saying, they had a lot less options than the grocery stores I normally go to. As an independent flower shop, I can understand not having a lot of premade bouquets for pop in visitors when you offer same day and next day bouquets that can be ordered on your website. They will even deliver around the Baltimore area. Still, I was pleased with my drop in visit of the Flower Cart and look forward to seeing what they can do when I actually order ahead of time.

Parking was a little challenge because their were not many available spots. I arrived when they opened. Others had the same idea. Buckets of different types of flowers and greenery were placed on a table in the center of the shop. My grandson and I were greeted as soon as we entered. You were able to pick the stems of your choice. Once picked you took your flowers to another table to be cut and arranged in beautiful bouquets. The entire staff was very friendly. Once your flowers were arranged, you were able to take them to the counter for payment. I purchased 32 stems which cost $20.00 plus tax. I was able to get 5 different bouquets out of them. I was truly pleased with my total experience. The flowers smelled amazing and they bought smiles to the people that we purchased them for.

If you have people in your life who are impossible to shop for for birthdays or holiday gifts, Dundalk Florist has got your back. They have a wide variety of non-floral gifts: jewelry, handbags, knicknacks, stuffed animals... The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because they can be a bit expensive. I understand this kind of pricing comes with being an independent retailer. You're always going to spend a little more when you support local. Also, if you decide to use Dundalk Florist for sending flowers, but you don't have time to visit the store, they have a website but customers should pay attention because big, nationwide florists have bought the top search results. Make sure that you are on the florist's website. If you get screwed over by the large, national chains, Dundalk Florist cannot help you fix the problem.
