We had Ivy handle our centerpieces for a company holiday party and she did a fantastic job! We told her that we were wanting burgundy flowers that looked festive and she exceeded our expectations! I came here because my mom had a good experience here so I thought "why not?". I enjoyed the consultation, she had beautiful ideas and she had me hooked! I don't have the picture anymore of my first bouquet Ivy made me when I first moved to San Jose. I just stopped by her shop after my cousin had her baby and asked her to make me a small bouquet. She asked if I wanted a mason jar and charged me $20. I loved how it turned out! A year later I was throwing a small get together at my apartment and wanted some "bright" colored flowers to go along with my dark themed, kind've fall colored-tea party. I showed her a few different pictures but she must've thought I wanted something more traditional which is what she ended up giving me. They're beautiful flowers! but not what I was asking. Also, considering that I was giving her my own jars, I didn't think she'd charge me the price she did. I guess flowers are a pricey commodity! I called Ivy's last Thursday to order an arrangement for a family friend's funeral service I was attending on Friday morning. I decided to go with Ivy's because of the stellar Yelp reviews and it was convenient for me (it is located right between my work and the funeral home). I emphasized that I needed to pick it up by 9:30 a.m. because I had to get back to work by 11. She said that was fine since she opens at 9. She sounded very The next morning I came with my mom only to find that the door was still locked. An elderly woman came and opened the door for us. I told her that I spoke with Ivy yesterday and had placed an order. She then proceeded to call Ivy and gave the phone to me to speak to her. Ivy said that she was running late and will be there in 15 minutes. My mom, who is a very traditional Vietnamese mom, was not happy. So I took her to get coffee while we waited. When we pulled up to the parking lot, Ivy just arrived. I came in and she apologized saying she was coming from SF and had intended to get to the store by 8. Blah blah blah...Okay, lady, it was 10. AND THEN she started working on the arrangement which took 15 minutes. Now I know flowers are pricey, but when I saw the whole 15-minute process and then paid the $65, I was even more irritated! And the arrangement wasn't anything special even though she said she would make it "nicer" or whatever. I am not going to return to this store because of the horrible experience. 40 minutes waiting for her to GET to the store, and 15 minutes watching her put the arrangement together...I might as well have gone to Safeway. read more

She was very professional, and sooo friendly, made my wedding day stressfree! 2 weeks before my wedding I met her at the flower market to finalize flower details, a day before the wedding she informed me that the orignal cala lilies she had intended to use for my bouquet was not as fresh as she hoped, she suggested me to go with mango colored ones instead. While working in downtown San Jose my boyfriend (now husband) called Ivy's to have surprise roses delivered a few years ago and they were AMAZING! They were not only gorgeous but the quality was terrific as they lasted 2 weeks + which is rare! They had a nice scent as well and the vases and presentation was AWESOME! She completely forgot about my order so obviously didn't have my bouquet when I came to pick it up. Then she put something together in five minutes and called it a day. When I told her I didn't like the roses, she said she used the expensive kind of roses for me, "normally I wouldn't include these roses or this wrapping for $55"... but she did because she knew she forgot my order! Also, when I called to order, she asked me if I wanted $35, $45, or $55 bouquet and I said $55, thinking I wanted the nice big one for my sister's graduation, and I got boring roses and hydrangea for that much (shady pricing). What's more annoying was all the condescending remarks she gave me! She also told me I don't have to take the bouquet if I don't like it... but I NEED THE DAMN BOUQUET, and she was supposed to do her job! UGH! Please go somewhere else for better service. read more

We chose Ivy as our florist for our July 2011 wedding and we're so happy we went with her! I didn't realize choosing a florist would end up being such a hard feat, but we met with 5 and selecting Ivy was pretty easy. She was sweet, talented, professional and decently priced (rates fell right in the middle of our 5 florists). Ivy has a shop right in downtown San Jose; people think florists charge more if they own a shop, but they're wrong! She has a cute shop AND prices are fair, so there! At our initial meeting at her shop, we showed her photos of some arrangements we had in mind and she just starting picking them out of her fridge to show us combinations. It was so cool! She was constantly throwing new ideas out at us that were really modern and creative. You also get another meeting with her one month before the wedding so you can give the final deposit plus finalize all details so she can order the flowers. Then a week before the wedding, Ivy found me on GChat and started sending me the flowers that started arriving for the wedding. It was so neat, I loved it!! As a bride, of course you want a sneak peek at anything and everything so it was kind of Ivy to reach out and send me those photos. On the big day, Ivy and team were so prompt and really stayed under the radar which is exactly what you want anyway. She stayed through the ceremony to move the flowers inside for the reception and I honestly never even got a glimpse of her. I wish I did so I could say thank you in person but they were so efficient and quick that I didn't even notice them. We just received photos back from our photographer and I started noticing extra details that Ivy added in that we never even noticed or ordered, like an extra centerpiece at the cake table, orchids at the head table, and LED lights in every centerpiece. I was first introduced to Ivy when someone sent me flowers for Valentine's Day. He was calling the order in and didn't have anything for reference. He told her that I did not like traditional roses, that I liked elegant and ethereal things. When her bouquet came, it was so beautiful. Being that it was Valentine's, most florists rush through their orders and the flowers are so so. My bouquet had lovely vintage pink roses with orchid sprays, succulents and more. It was a very elegant and refined arrangement. The color combination was very whimsical and the flower choices showed an attention to texture. It lasted for almost 2 weeks as well. On another occasion, my friend called me asking what to do if he forgot his gf's birthday. I told him to call Ivy and get flowers. He had no time as he was about to head into a long all-day deposition. No worries I told him, just call and tell her about his girlfriend. I get a text later telling me that she had saved his day -- she sent his girlfriend a very modern, ikebana-ish tulip arrangement, with very clean lines and bold colors. She even threw in some balloons. I can go on and on with more stories about other times I have ordered from her. I usually call the same day and tell her about the occasion, my friend's personalities, and she'll nail it and gets it to them in time. I've ordered for older women, younger, friends, and I'm always beyond happy with my gift. It's her choice of colors, textures, and variation of arranging styles that make her arrangements stand out. She can do elegant, modern, vintage, and more. All this and I have never once stepped foot into her store as I only order over the phone. And today, I get a surprise arrangement from Ivy herself. She had leftover flowers from a wedding and remembered that I liked dahlias. Instead of letting it go to waste, she sent it over to my office in a really lovely pink and orange bouquet with a rustic country feeling and burlap vase. I've considered just leaving a review that said "Just use Ivy. Just do it" because it's really as simple as that. And I didn't want to clutter this simple thing with a bunch of reasons and explanations. But for those of you who need more than... Just use Ivy. Just do it... Here's what I have to say: I found Ivy on yelp (of course). I looked through several other florists on yelp. Many had good reviews and good things to say about the florists but the pictures just didn't show what I had in mind. Nothing unique. Just roses and tight bouquets and bleh. Well I didn't want that. I saw something different in Ivy's pictures and knew immediately that she was someone I had to have a meeting with. I was at first afraid that because her work looked more thought out and unique that her pricing would be out of my range. I walked into her shop worried that as much as I might love her, I wouldn't be able to afford her with my budget (a pretty low one, relatively speaking). And yes, I did love her. And YES, I COULD afford her. She basically told me that she'd work with my budget and BOY did she. (More on that later) In my first meeting with her, she wanted to get a sense of what I like and didn't like. I'm not much of a girly girl so I couldn't help her much on that. I did tell her however, a few things that I didn't like. Just from that, she got a sense of what kind of person I am (umm. not a girly girl). She pulled pictures from past weddings that she's done and I pointed out specific flowers or aspects of what she did that I liked. Told her rustic & romantic and that's really all she needed. She said, so you like this? YES. This? YES! Not this? RIGHT. Spot on. Anyway, we met a few more times and corresponded a few time between then and the wedding. Each time tweaking what I wanted (as I got to know my venue a little better). I have to say that I kept wanting more and more and worried about my budget. But she said, no problem. She can repurpose ceremony flowers for the reception. I was shocked! She really cared about what I wanted and wanted to give it all to me no matter what. You wonder about the logistics of such a thing as moving flowers from the ceremony to the reception? It went without a hitch. I know because I didn't know about it until I walked into the reception and there were flowers everywhere! In places I didn't even ask for because I knew it'd just add $$. She didn't just put the flowers there, she brought her own vases. 4 vases with flowers on the mantles of BOTH fireplaces. Our sweetheart table and cake table were decked out (tastefully). She added touches to my centerpieces. It set such an incredible atmosphere. So warm and light and romantic. For the cocktail hour, she had added just touches of flowers here and there - just enough to upgrade it from a venue to a wedding. Ok, I gotta go back to the ceremony for a second. In my research for wedding decor (pinterest!), I loved the idea of a chandelier hanging from the tree. My husband and I happened to find a venue where we could get married under a tree and I loved the idea of something hanging from the tree. Ivy already has all that stuff!! and charges a minimal amount (in my opinion - compared to me shopping for it, paying to rent it, dragging it to the wedding, finding someone to put it up and take it down and then dragging it back to the rental place) to bring it with her AND put it up herself (and with her crew). She waited till after the ceremony and took it down without interrupting a thing. I didn't even know when it was all done and she had gone (I was actually sad because I wanted to say THANKS IVY!! before she left). But I'm sure she just didn't want to interrupt anything. Another thing, Ivy will give it to you straight. I came to her for advice on the centerpiece and the "tree piece". For the centerpiece - no, that doesn't look good. do this. add this. - and it came out beautiful. For the "tree piece" - my fiance thinks that's a dumb idea. She said - why are you even asking him? Just do it! hahahha. and thank goodness I did! I've gotten so many compliments about my wedding. How beautiful it was, how romantic it felt. Only I know that's it's ALL because of Ivy and what her and her team did. She filled in the blanks everywhere (again, tastefully). More than we even discussed. And all the arrangements were EXACTLY what I wanted. EXACTLY. Ivy is more than a florist. I never did got to thank Ivy - Thank you Ivy for such an incredible job. Such incredible work. And helping it all go so seamlessly. You were my one stop shop for everything. Flowers, props, advice - and then you gave me some more. I have to say, I'm sad to write this review. Ivy came highly recommended by a long time family friend. My dad had shared that I was newly engaged and she gushed to him about how great Ivy was with her flowers. I called and set an appointment and met her with my mom. She was prompt and the shoppe was clean and well organized. She had some incredible ideas, and listened to everything I wanted, including the items I did NOT like. I was eager to see some of her sample work and left her with my email address to send the photos and a quote, and had a pretty good feeling that I would like what she sent over. She was the first florist I had met with, and I was eager to see her plans. After 8 days, I wrote her and asked about the quote. I never heard anything. I let another 4 days go by and wrote her again, several days later she responded letting me know that she had been very busy, and she would get me the samples and quote soon. I emailed one last time, and never heard from her.
