I called Flowers by Azalea directly because when I order from FTD I find I am always disappointed with what is advertised and what you get. I believe that the florist receives so little of what you pay for and it reflects on the flowers. When I called here, it was before closing. I asked if I could get a sympathy bouquet delivered for the next day. The woman I spoke with was supper nice and extremely helpful. She asked good questions and seemed to instinctively know what I was looking for. I gave her my price range and she hit it out of the park. When my friend received the flowers she said it captured her mom exactly. She was a quirky, artistic, girlie and fun person and the flowers made my friend remember all the good things her mom was. Yesterday I passed by a storefront on Wisconsin that was crowded with people. Yay! Party! I didn't have the time to stop but made a mental note that I had to check out the business/businesses that were there. So, after yoga this morning i decided to swing by and see what all the fuss was about. Flowers by Azalea just celebrated her one year anniversary. What I first noticed inside this small shop was a beautiful flower chandalier (don't expect to see it when you go in she made it for the party) you'll just have to take my word for it that it was stop in awe amazing. She offers a deal on Thursdays - 10 flowers for $10. Yay lucky me! She made me a beautiful bouquet ready to set in a vase - easy and no fuss - just the was i like it. I love people who can take something simple like a flower and make it into something wonderful that everyone can enjoy. I love the stargazer lilies she selected for the arrangement and my room smells amazing. I just want to mention that Azalea, the store owner, was so personable and friendly - this is a great shop I'm very happy I found it. I was very happy to see a beautiful arrangement my boyfriend got me for Valentine's Day; however, I was sad to see that the flowers did not look fresh. When one sells roses to an individual they are typically tight new buds that can be enjoyed for some time before they start to wilt and have their petals start falling. The peonies were already wilted and have brown edges and the petals are going to fall soon. I am very sad because I am sure my boyfriend spent a good amount of money on these and feel that I will not be able to enjoy them as long as if they were fresh when given to him. I've waited 7 weeks purposely to post a review, hoping that with the passage of time, my review would be more objective and less emotional. I hired Azalea to do the floral arrangements for a Black Tie event. We met months in advance and I was very specific about the color scheme and the feel of the arrangements (both were discussed, put it in writing, and 10-15 photos were sent to capture the feeling and colors I was looking for). The Positive: 1. Azalea was pleasant. 2. Her flowers were very fresh. 2. Two of the 4 arrangements she did were lovely---spot on with colors and the feel was exactly as I had asked The Issues: The two largest "focal point" arrangements ($850 and $750 which did not include the containers) were not the colors I had asked for. I had requested purple, mauve and fushia. What I got was purple and CORAL. Unfortunately, coral is one of my least favorite colors. Most importantly, these 2 coral arranements did not flow with the two smaller purple, mauve and fushia arrangements. When I pointed out that the flowers were not what we had discussed and what she had confirmed, I was very troubled at what Azalea kept saying, "But, I think the flower arragements are beautiful." They were beautiful....IF YOU HAD REQUESTED AND LOVED CORAL. Also, upsetting to me was that she told me the high cost of the arrangements was based on the fact that she had to special order all of the flowers. When I asked on the day of the event why in the world she had ever chosen the coral color she informed me "The corals flowers were the only one the flower mart had this morning." Huh?" I though these were special ordered months in advance?? In the end, she removed the coral flowers and went to my garden and picked other flowers to supplement (keep in mind it was December 1st, so there wasn't much to choose from). There was not even a suggestion of a refund for her not delivering what she had promised. And, I was far too miffed to ask for one, however, I should have. If you are hiring Azalea to do an event that isn't important to you (this was a hallmark birthday of mine) than you'll probably be OK. If you are flexible on your flower colors, than you'll probably be OK. Her prices were the highest of everyone I interviewed. I thought I would get what I paid for. Not true. read more

I contacted Azalea two weeks before my (very intimate on the beach) wedding, hoping to get some last minute flowers. She was able to come through for me and they turned out so perfectly. I felt so beautiful in the flower crown! My husband's lei was perfect and so were the white orchid leis for the guests. We chose Azalea because my boyfriend, turned fiancé, used to buy me the most unique flowers from her for special or just because occasions and they always amazed me how absolutely perfect they were for me. We had such a great time mingling with the other ladies and learning how to make our own flower crowns. She was a great leader, going step by step and making sure we were all together as a group. I chose to do this class so I could learn how to make a floral garland for my wedding and it was incredibly helpful.
