Comfy seating in a lovely corner with lots of natural light.

The Flower Mound Public library is freaking awesome! Now let me give the proper disclaimer and let you know that I am a HUGE fan of the public library system and feel they are one of the most awesome free resources on the planet and are sadly underappreciated. With that being said, Flower Mound's library is top notch. The building is beautiful, open, light and inviting. They have an ample selection of materials including digital media such as audio books and downloadable books compatible with iPads, nooks, kindles, ect. There is a good amount of seating, including tables, couches, chairs, rockers and more. One of my favorite things about the library is the study rooms available for check out. They have 3 private rooms that you can reserve for 2 hours a day by coming in or calling that morning. If there is no one waiting to use the room after you, they will let you stay as long as you want until someone else requests a room. The staff is nice here too. The lighting is good and the high ceiling and big windows make it whole library feel spacious and open and inviting. A great place to come and get some serious work done. Free wifi that is fast too. Overall, I just LOVE this place!!

This place is super nice and especially the workers! They have a good selection of books but it's not huge. Totally recommend this library.

That said, I REALLY enjoy the Roanoke Library. My wife and I moved to Roanoke in July 2011, and I kind of stumbled across this little gem. Here's a summary: - It's small. Cozy, but not too small - every time I go, there's only one or two patrons in the whole place. - Free Wifi. A lot quieter to study/work here than Starbucks. - They carry fairly new items (in my category of interests, anyway). I managed to secure the Steve Jobs biography on hold, within a few weeks of publication. Beats spending the money on Kindle. - A part of the TexShare program, which allows me to borrow books from other libraries after being a local cardholder for 6 months. - Good movie selection, and blu-rays. Current stuff, stuff I would think would be "too new" for the library. Also, the week-long policy for movies is a plus. - Decent online holding and renewal system. I can check out a book for 2 weeks, but renew it up to 5 times online. Wow! That's cool. All in all, this childhood place of memory has re-entered my list of favorite places - good resources, friendly staff, and a quiet environment.

The management of the library system seems to be doing some great new things. Each time I go in, I am able to find new books that are current and are of interest to me. There are a lot of computer terminals for those individuals looking to gain access to the internet. The new library also has some great work stations with power at each station in the center of the table. This is a very comfortable library now and a strong library system for such a small little community.

Best library for kids in the area thanks to Ms. Karen. This…read morereview is limited to children's section/ experience, I have not used the other resources available. We've been coming to the Southlake library for two years now because my kid loves it, the decor, the coloring activities available and for Ms. Karen. Ms. Karen, and others, do a fantastic story time, coordinating activities, seasonal decorations and prizes. I've seen 4 th graders ask Ms Karen for book recommendations as she knows EVERY book under the roof and her opinion is valued by kids and parents alike. We do not live in Southlake so play the annual $25 fee for library use and it's money we'll spent. I find this library easy to navigate, I can find a book/ theme I'm looking for within minutes, they separate seasonal books too so if you're trying to teach about Thanksgiving or Valentines Day then they are all in a section of their own, which is so nice. If you need anything here, just ask and one of the highly skilled Librarian's will assist. I have only been impressed with each staff member and resources available here. Oh, and there is also a book return by the Marq, it's a drive by drop box which is convenient and nice to have as an option for days/ times the library is closed.

Struck me as a nice QUIET library, unlike the Keller Library, with its array of computers running video games and not isolated from the reading areas. Saw a large shelf with DVDs too. Though as I type this up I see pictures of what looks to be a story time, so perhaps the quiet is not a sure thing, so if that is what you seek, might want to look for an event schedule. Bottom line: Nice

It's easy to find, the staff is always friendly, and the resources they offer go way beyond just checking out a book. A few things that make this library stand out: ~The "Two-Library" Perk: I love that our membership gives us access to both locations. It makes finding specific titles so much easier! ~Digital & Physical Browsing: Their website is user-friendly for reserving books online, but nothing beats the feeling of physically walking the aisles. It's very well-organized and inviting. ~The Children's Area: As someone who works with children, I am always impressed by how clean this space is. They have great toys available, and it's a wonderful environment for little ones to explore. ~Community Respect: I've noticed the families here are very respectful about keeping noise to a minimum. Of course, "kids will be kids" as they learn and play, but the atmosphere remains peaceful and welcoming. Bonus Finds: Don't forget to check out their books for sale and the calendar for community events and classes. Plus, the free Wi-Fi is a great plus if you need to get some work done!
