Animal Medical Center of Highland Village - Rip baby

Animal Medical Center of Highland Village

The amazing team at the Animal Medical Center of Highland Village are absolutely fantastic and…read moreeverything you should look for in a vet. From the moment you walk in the door you have friendly and helpful customer service, to the vets skills and communication ability. Being a foster for a rescue here in Texas requires us to use Rescue Approved vets and I'm always wary since it isn't my personal vet. But we have now had 2 fosters go through this vet office for complicated leg surgeries and they have been nothing but the best to explaining the procedure, to the vet care and work done, to the post care and help with all the many questions. Foster fail Max and current foster Lyla and very spoilt to have been worked on by the team here and if we ever needed a new vet for our own 4 babies, this would be the place!!

My Boston Terrier needs to be seen for a developing small bump on his back. He doesn't seem in pain…read morewhen I touch it, but the bump has grown in size over the last two months. Animal Medical Center has been our doctor for the last 4 years and they know my dogs history - but as other reviewers have recently shared, it's obvious this practice is now driving at profit over people and pets. I'm extremely disappointed with the service--or lack thereof--at this veterinary clinic. When my dog was clearly in distress and needed attention, I was turned away without the basic evaluation I was asking for due to a missed vaccination. I informed the vet to check my dogs medical history; he is a highly allergic Boston Terrier with multiple documented accounts of severe anaphylaxis in response to some, not all, vaccinations. This particular vaccination he needed is one that had been administered in the past and nearly killed my dog back in 2021. He survived but was hospitalized twice in five days, and barely recovered. There was no compassion, no sense of urgency, and no attempt to refer me elsewhere. As a dog Mom, I rely on my vets not only for medical expertise but for understanding, empathy and responsiveness in critical moments. Unfortunately, that was completely lacking here. I won't return to this office and I wouldn't recommend this clinic to anyone who wants their pet treated with the humane, loving care and respect they deserve.

Male associate was incredibly rude. I asked if I could interact with a cat I was interested in…read morebuying and he insisted that they could only let me play with her if I was serious about buying. I said I am serious about buying, but how do you expect people to buy your cats if they can't meet them first? He said again, "Are you absolutely sure about wanting to buy this cat?" to which I said yes for the second time. He said "Well you have to be at least 18 or older or have a parent or guardian to adopt."..... I am 26 years old. So I told him I am 26 and he circled back AGAIN and said "Okay well do you think you're actually going to adopt the cat." I left and went straight to Petco where I was holding a cat within the first 3 minutes I was there (and I adopted her too). No wonder PetSmart has a hard time selling their animals, who would want to feel uncomfortable and berated by the staff for simply holding a cat before adopting? You guys need to change your pet handling policy. It's a SHAME you can't even touch the animals before you buy them unless you're "serious", and I was serious! I will most definitely never be coming back here. I don't want to feel uncomfortable for asking to pet a cat and for a place that "loves pets", it's terrible that we aren't allowed to love on them. Petco will have all of my business now!

Initially waited in store, as we weren't told how SLOW they are. Then when we asked we were told we should have made an earlier appointment, it's our fault because by noon their appear backlogged hours, apparently. Maybe they need to figure out what they can actually handle, and schedule accordingly. Don't make an appointment and then not be able to do the work as scheduled.

I do not recommend Banfield Pet Hospital at all. My husband signed up with them back in June…read more Later, he had to change one of his cards because his identity was stolen and fraudulent charges were made. Just last week, when we tried to schedule our dog's vaccines, Banfield told us that our subscription had been canceled and that we owed the rest of the annual contract--over $800--which had already been sent to collections. What makes it worse is that even if we paid the balance, they said they would not reinstate the plan. Instead, we would have to start a brand-new contract from zero. We asked to cancel the service, because when we first enrolled we were told that we could cancel at any time. But Banfield said that once it was sent to collections, we were still fully responsible for the amount, regardless. This feels unethical and misleading. They market their wellness plans as something flexible, but in reality they lock you into an annual obligation and use aggressive collections practices even when circumstances are beyond your control. We feel taken advantage of, and I would not recommend Banfield to anyone looking for honest or ethical veterinary care.
