I understand that when you purchase flowers the arrangement isn't going to be an exact match for what is shown on the website. But the difference between what was delivered on Saturday and what was delivered on Tuesday is night and day. I just wish that they had gotten it right the first time. read more

I've used Whole Foods for years for my flower arrangements and always thought they did a great job. When they couldn't accommodate my order for flowers for a wedding shower I was hosting (they were totally booked when I called them three weeks in advance) I called The Flower District. Paul was so pleasant, easy to work with and created the most beautiful centerpieces. They were exactly what I wanted and they delivered the centerpieces the morning of the shower which was so convenient. I loved the flowers so much I used The Flower District for centerpieces for a luncheon the following weekend. Again the arrangements were stunning! I have never felt compelled to write a review before now. This by FAR the best floral experience I have ever had. Two days before my son's prom I needed a boutonnière and corsage. I called Flower District as not one place in West Hartford was even taking calls. They said that they would do what they could with whatever they had. Well, apparently all they could scrape up was ethereal orchids. My son and his girlfriend had the most beautiful flowers at the Hall High junior prom. I showed my friends pictures. One of them sent an arrangement to me from Flower District three days later. I just don't have words to adequately describe their beauty. read more

Sick in bed, I couldn't figure out who was at my front door ringing my doorbell. I was expecting a few packages so I figured UPS may have rang the bell to let me know they were dropping off one of my packages. The bell rang a second time. Begrudgingly, I got my sick butt out of bed and went to greet the intruder with some skepticism and looking like all kinds of hell. As I peer quizzically at the front door, I see a friendly face at my door holding a basket of flowers. I was so surprised that my lovely friends Sara and Steve had sent me flowers and they were absolutely gorgeous, smelled divine, and achieved the wonderful trick of making me feel immensely special. I didn't have my wits about me to ask the delivery women's name, but despite my awful appearance, she was super friendly and very gentle in handing me the flowers. I am not from the area so I looked around on yelp to figure out what place would send my husband flowers while on his business trip to cheer him up. I thought I'd give this place a call to see what they could do. To my surprise, not only was the man on the phone a complete pleasure to talk to but he also read my mind in terms of budget and style of arrangement! He rattled off a few flowers he would put together for my sweet husband and immediately named one of my favorite flowers (hydrangeas)! What makes this even better is he also noted the flowers could be delivered within the hour even though there was plenty of time before my husband checks in. Everything went smoothly and he was well-mannered and easy to chat with on the phone - it felt like talking to a friend. My mom made several cakes for my brother's wedding and we ordered the flowers for decorating the cakes from here. Due to the logistics of the wedding (it's never easy!), we had to pick up the flowers several days before the wedding day and drive them from CT to PA. The flowers we received were gorgeous and packaged for the trip. The owner was super nice and gave instructions as to how to transport them, store them and treat them before the big day. We had lilies, so he instructed me how to remove the pollen from the center as they blossomed, so they stayed "lily white". The flowers lasted and were in great condition on the big day - one less thing to stress about for my family and a testament to the quality of the product received! This florist has moved from Glen Lochen to Main Street in the same building as Daybreak. My sister was recently at Glen Lochen and saw it was empty and was so sad but luckily-he just moved. This shop is owned by a very nice gentleman, he is very creative and dedicated to his work. He prefers to work with the more exotic and special flowers...so he'll give you roses if you ask for them but he'd prefer to use something awesome like....well its a flower I can't pronounce-he told me how to say it like 4 times and well...that is why you leave it up to professionals! (after doing google search I conclude the non-boring flower I can't pronounce is Alstroemeria) Anyway the Flower District handled my wedding flowers and we recieved many complements. I have used this florist for my wedding and they have done an excellent job. Everything was done and delivered on time to the church and to my house. The bouquets were clearly marked to who's it was with fancy little tags The church arrangements were absolutely beautiful even better than I imagined, the owner really listened to what I wanted and it met my taste and style. I highly recommend this place for all your flower needs. Parking is limited at times as this place is hidden in the back section of the plaza of the daybreak cafe. Paul is absolutely amazing. He went above and beyond creating gorgeous bouquets, wreaths, garlands, arches, etc. for my September wedding. He worked with me (patiently I might add) to create multiple sample styles until we achieved exactly the look I was hoping for. I ordered flowers from the Flower District for a friend, just a quick, fun winter pick-me-up. My only request was to include a few iris. The bouquet that Paul created was EXACTLY what I wanted - full of color and variety, magenta, deep purples, yellows - and lots of iris. So let me start by saying, in my several years of living and buying flowers, I have never encountered a rude salesman in a flower shop until today. I came here at 12:30 and asked if there were any pre-made arrangements for Mother's Day. The salesman says to me in a rather snarky tone, "at this point you're so late there aren't any left" but that he would be able to make one and would need just a half hour. Firstly, let me point out a few things out a) how am I late for a pre-made arrangement? It's not an order being placed; they are pre-made for people who wish to grab them closer to the day. Why would I purchase a pre-made arrangement so far in advance so they are dead by Mother's Day. b) I'm fully aware I am late on the flowers for mom's day this year. Why would this salesman deem it necessary to rudely point that out? So, I'm there looking what they have in the fridge and thinking what I want to get and I'm literally in the store for a total of two mins tops. He asks if I am going order anything and I replied I was thinking what I want. He rudely responds that he will stop taking orders at 1:00. I said okay but then thought to myself, "is this guy serious with his attitude?" It was 12:30 and I was taking a couple of minutes to gather my thoughts on what to get and this rude guy wants to stress he won't take anything past 1? It's not going to take a half hour for me to think what I want! Thus, I walked out, told him he was rude, and will never ever walk in there again. I'm sorry but if you are in the flower business and can't handle stressful peak times then find a new job. Customers are spending lots of money (dare I say unnecessary money since flowers are dead in a week) and you want to treat them like crap? Yes, I'll pass. I'll stick to Keser's on New London Tpike. The salespeople there are very nice and professional and aren't rude to you when you think about what you want to purchase. read more

Paul at Flower District goes above and beyond the call of duty. His customer service (and arrangements) are excellent. We recently ordered an arrangement to be sent to the home where there had been a death in the family. Unfortunately we gave Paul the wrong address and were on vacation off the communication grid. The person who received the delivery notified Paul to pick up the flowers and tried to reach us to no avail. Paul tried as well with the same result. He was unable to get the correct address as the family was unlisted. As he was telling the story to some people at a local coffee shop another customer said he knew the family and provided the contact information. Paul immediately sent an arrangement with some upgrades for the delay (none of which was his fault). We have since heard from the intended family that the flower and plant arrangement was exquisite. Excellent customer service and beautiful flowers. Don't think about going anywhere else. Flower District is the best. read more
