I was completely satisfied with all aspects of the job.

Chris did not give me a quote over the phone, but told me the cost would be "reasonable," and I trusted this because a friend referred him to me. Chris spent just over 30 minutes to install and charged me $225 for drive time/labor! Burnside is located 8 minutes from my home. I should have installed it myself. Checking with friends and online for avg. labor rate, tops was $125. Never using Burnside Plumbing again. Had to to put one star up to post.

They were low pressure and presented me with exactly what was best for my place, not their commission. On the day of the install 6 people arrived working on the outside heat pump and the indoor condenser at the same time. They arrived at 8am and were done by 3pm. I live in a condo on the second floor and the AC is located in the ceiling. In spite of all the dirt and debris, the hallway was immaculate. They even wrapped the condenser with two layers of insulation so it would not sweat and damage the ceiling tiles.

I waited a couple days and called their office again and was told they were writing a proposal and I would hear back shortly. I waited another 4 days and called again and got the same reply. So now it has been a week and the manager Chris finally called me back to say they were declining the job and they would refund my $89 estimate fee. No problem there but I really should have been informed at the start that their evaluation would take over a week. Communication is every bit as important as expertise

I selected Drainman because of the strong ratings on Yelp, and I was very happy with the outcome of the repair. Mike Ammouri, the very friendly and knowledgeable owner, came to our home to diagnose the problem on a Sunday... which was amazing in itself. Mike went through a series of troubleshooting tests to determine that the pressure in the old part of our house was fine. He also looked at the plumbing lines going into the new part of the house where the upstairs shower and sink are located, and he reported that everything looked fine. That left the water tank itself. He went upstairs with me and we conducted a few tests and he then concluded that our water holding tank was too small, thereby causing the pump to cycle on and off. It was during those cyclings that we were experiencing the severe drop down in water flow. He came out on a Sunday, provided what seemed to be an accurate diagnosis, he charged me nothing, and he's going to provide a quote for the work. On top of that, I got a new showerhead thrown in for free.

I have had two experiences with Masciantonio Plumbing. The first was a five star, the second (and…read morefinal) a one star. Thus, my three star rating. On the first visit, they installed a new water shutoff under my sink, for a very reasonable $75. This was a 15 minute job and the owner himself did the work and offered me the service call rate. The second visit was an even simpler job of replacing the trap under my sink. It was literally a screw off, replace, screw on job. I would have done it myself, but my home inspection required professional receipts. The work was fine, but the bill was high. $34 for the part (a roughly 1500% markup over Home Depot), and $130 for labor. This job took 15 minutes. The owner lowered the bill by $25 after I complained but really, I shouldn't have had to take this step, as I was billed for the two plumber rate. I would strongly recommend an up front quote from this company before authorizing work.
