Think twice before using this dentist for anything other than cleaning. I don't ever write bad reviews but I will for this one. I am a business owner and I do a lot of videos and when I broke a tooth I immediately called my dentist Dr Creech. I went in and was told 2 options, a bridge or an implant. I had done an implant with them few years back everything went great. I am sitting in the chair with Novocaine shots and half out of it so when they said $2200 for an implant I agreed even though its a lot of money. Instead of scheduling me another day, this was valentines day they immediately proceeded to take my tooth out which I found odd that it happened so fast. I had paid $1000 at my last visit and when I walk in today to only get a flapper fake tooth, because I was told the implant could take months they wanted another $1200, I immediately said why would I pay you for the whole thing when it takes several months. The secretary proceeded to tell me they are done, this wasn't including the implant, this was just a tooth extraction and bone graft. WHY ON EARTH would I agreed to only have a front tooth removed with no implant, when I asked for an implant? I even mentioned I had commercials I had to do and wanted the implant done. I was the one that asked for a flapper tooth because I didn't want to wait a few months they told me it would take to do the whole implant. So now I am out $1000 and have my tooth removed and I don't even trust this company. I would have NEVER agreed to $2200 to be left like this, why would you not have quoted me the whole thing? I had called and got quote for tooth removal and implant $2500-$3000. You were going to charge me another $1500 for the implant. $4000 for one tooth, please run from this company!

My first few cleanings here were fine. However, I had another cleaning there this past Thursday…read morethat was anything but. I left with sore gums behind my lower left wisdom tooth, but I figured the hygienist had been a little overzealous in that difficult-to-reach area and the mild pain would be gone by the next day (as has happened to me before). However, with each passing day the pain and swelling have grown worse. By Saturday night I could hardly talk, eat, or sleep due to the pain, and the swelling can be seen in my face even while taking 600 mg of ibuprofen every 4 hours. I had been planning to try to make it through until Monday before calling the office so I didn't have to bother the dentist over the weekend, but as of Sunday things had gotten to the point that they were intolerable even by a tough mama like me - so I broke down and called the office, expecting to reach either an answering service who would put the dentist in contact with me or a voicemail message that provided emergency contact information - but no. Patients are told that if they have a dental emergency, they need to call 911. Seriously??? I've never heard of such a thing in all my 37 years. I'm not about to go pay thousands of dollars at a local ER when they couldn't even actually treat me, ESPECIALLY considering that this problem was caused by a dentist's office - THEY need to be the ones to absorb the cost of fixing this! I know it was caused by my Thursday visit to Smile Design, too, because the hygienist remarked how healthy my teeth and gums were during the cleaning, and noted that my always healthy gums had actually IMPROVED since my last visit! I hesitate to blame the hygienist herself, I've never had a problem with her before. Perhaps their tools were improperly sterilized or something, I don't know. What I do know is that this has been the worst dental experience of my life and this office has no emergency care available. Avoid this place, find another dentist who actually cares enough about his or her patients as people (not just their money) to make themself available to their patients when they need care the most. ***UPDATE*** They called me shortly after they opened today and fit me in right away. An x-ray was taken, my suspicion of an infection was confirmed, and they irrigated my mouth with an antibiotic solution. I left with a prescription for antibiotics and a referral to an oral surgeon, and they did not charge me for any of this. They handled my problem with kindness, respect, and professionalism (even taking my toddler out into the hallway and playing with him during my X-ray), so I feel much better about this office now than I did this weekend. However, the fact remains that they do not make themselves available for emergency care after hours or on weekends. If you are unconcerned about that kind of thing, you can feel comfortable going here - they will take good care of you whenever they are open. However, if you want the extra security that emergency availability provides, you should probably look elsewhere.

I can honestly say that I am glad I made that decision. Since day 1 he and his staff have been nothing short of awesome to work with. (Especially my girl Angie LOL). Dr. C as well as Angie were very upfront with what to expect during and after the procedure, and they were spot on about everything. Even after the procedure Dr. C gave me his personal cell phone number and said if I had any questions concerns etc. to reach out at anytime. Dr. C answered every time I text him within 15 minutes. I am very sorry to say that this has been the worst dental experience I have ever had…read more I initially went to this office for a root canal and was told the cost would be $500. I paid the full amount upfront. The root canal was performed, but a few days later I developed a serious infection. I was advised to wait a couple of weeks; however, the infection worsened, and I ultimately required gum surgery due to the infection. Because of this, I had to wait a couple of months before I could return for further treatment. When I returned, each visit resulted in additional charges, despite the complications being directly related to the original procedure. Eventually, I was able to complete the root canal process. A few months later, the root canal crown fell off, and I had to return again to have it glued back on. I was told by the doctor that the pain and infection should resolve within six months. However, it has now been almost a year, and I still have an ongoing infection under my gum that has not healed. In addition to the medical issues, there have been serious billing problems. My insurance company refused to continue paying due to the very high charges submitted by the office and has stopped coverage. My insurance informed me that there is a coverage limit for root canals, and because the infection and repeated procedures were caused by the dental treatment itself, they are refusing to cover the additional charges. As a result, the unpaid balance has been sent to a debt collector, leaving me responsible for charges that I should not have to pay--while I am still dealing with an unresolved infection. Due to the poor quality of care, ongoing medical issues, and unfair billing practices, I do not recommend this doctor. I am currently seeking legal counsel regarding this matter.

I really don't like to write negative reviews but since your teeth are extremely important, I felt…read moreI needed to share my story. I originally went in for a tooth being in pain. I've had the same night guard for 20 years and it recently got loose so I thought perhaps that was causing the pain. Got fitted for a new night guard. The dental assistant had some attitude, and it seemed she was talking down to her other coworkers. Since I was a new patient, the dentist asked that I transfer over the x-rays I had done at my former dentist. She said her office could help with that. After a few unnecessary calls and mails from her office, they finally were able to obtain my x-rays. Honestly, would have been easier if I had handled this request myself..... The night guard did not help my tooth pain, so I went into the office again. The dentist said I had gum erosion and needed to have my tooth bonded. I've never had a single tooth problem so I had no idea what this meant and should have done my research before agreeing to the procedure. Dentist didn't tell me how to care for myself after the procedure. I'm type A so looked up what I needed to be done for the next 48 hours. After two weeks I still was having pain from the procedure on top of the normal tooth pain I already was having. Was told by the dentist sometimes teeth are just sensitive, and nothing was wrong. I also noticed after my procedure that my new night guard didn't fit anymore. I told the dentist about this, and she said that isn't normal which come to find out it is TOTALLY normal and should have been mentioned to me before I did the procedure. I questioned if doing the bonding for my tooth was really necessary and was blown off and told to come back in a week if I was still in pain. Still was in pain so went back into the office again. Was told I would be meeting with a different dentist this time and they would be taking over my case....... She suggested that I go to an endodontist to see if I would need a root canal. We did a fitting again to correct my new mouth guard. Went to the Endodontist and he said my tooth was fine. Two weeks went by, and I still haven't heard back from the office that my night guard was ready. I called the office and was told they were going to look into in and call me back. The next day I still hadn't gotten a call so I called again. The person I spoke with story wasn't matching and just sounded that they were trying to cover up for the fact that they forgot about my night guard. I finally went in for a second fitting. Guard was still a bit off. By this point I'm over this whole experience and cancelled my next cleaning because I won't be doing business with this place every again.

The new dentist(s) may be worthy of five stars also but I don't think it's fair that they "inherit" Dr. Ortiz's ratings. They should be required to start from scratch. I'll start by saying I don't tend to frequent anything other than privately owned and operated dental offices. Big corporations usually rotate dentists in and out so you can never develop a relationship with them. I knew Dr. Ortiz had sold his practice but was still working at Smile Design. However, They did not forewarn me prior to my last appointment approximately 6 months ago that Dr. Ortiz was no longer there and I'd be seeing someone new. The whole staff with the exception of 1 person is new. Consistency is what I absolutely LOVED about Center for Smiles. The staff never changed, they all knew you by name, and the atmosphere was like a family. The new staff couldn't even add up my total charge correctly. The receipt showed $86 but she charged my FSA card $88 & it took weeks to resolve getting that $2 put back (because you know an FSA don't play...they need to verify down to the last penny!) Ugh, I hate when a provider who was absolutely perfect either relocates or retires. Anyone have a dentist they love that you want to recommend??

I have mixed feelings about leaving this review because there are people at this practice that I…read moregenuinely appreciate. First, my hygienist is wonderful. She is consistently kind, professional, thorough, and one of the main reasons I've continued coming back. I also have a great deal of respect for Dr. Vallo. He was my original dentist, and he ran an efficient, organized practice. I'm sorry to hear about his health issues, and I wish him nothing but the best. Unfortunately, since his departure, the office has steadily declined. Communication has become the biggest problem. It's nearly impossible to reach someone at the office directly because calls almost always go to an answering service, and messages frequently aren't returned. Even when I call for simple status updates, I often don't receive a response. Wait times are routinely long. The office used to make those waits more pleasant by offering coffee or water, but those amenities have quietly disappeared. While that's a small thing, it reflects a larger change in the patient experience. I've also witnessed multiple patients expressing frustration over billing issues while sitting in the waiting room. Whether those situations were ultimately resolved or not, it's concerning to see those conversations happen so often. There also seems to have been significant turnover among the front office staff, and communication has felt inconsistent for several years. My Invisalign experience has been especially disappointing. I wore my aligners exactly as instructed, yet whenever an issue came up, I often felt as though the assumption was that I hadn't been compliant rather than considering there might have been an issue elsewhere in the process. The team provided very little explanation about what to expect, why certain procedures were being done, or helpful tips--such as keeping previous trays in case the next set didn't fit properly. There were even occasions when incorrect dates were written on my Invisalign schedule, and I had to correct the timeline myself. Asking questions often felt like I was inconveniencing the staff instead of being an informed patient. The final straw has been the completion of my Invisalign treatment. I paid for my final retainers, was told they would arrive in four weeks, and now it's been over nine weeks. I still don't have them. I've been told it's due to an Invisalign backlog, but I haven't been given updates, tracking information, or returned phone calls despite multiple attempts. It has left me wondering whether the order was submitted when it should have been. I truly wanted this practice to remain my dental home because it's conveniently located, I love my hygienist, and I had such a positive experience when Dr. Vallo was there. I also didn't want to start over with a new dentist after more than three years as a patient. But after repeatedly leaving appointments telling myself, "I need to find a new dentist," I'm finally accepting that this practice is no longer providing the level of communication, organization, and patient care I expect. I sincerely hope they can address these issues because there are good people there, and I know this office is capable of being much better than what I've experienced.
