Been here a couple of times and it's always a vibe. I love the ambience and decor. My band and I usually come here after practice or a show. There's a fun photo booth, plus pool and pinball to hang out and unwind. I ordered the veggie burger and it was scrumptiousss perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The only downside is that it doesn't come with a side, so it's $14 for just the burger. Service was fast and friendly, which is always a plus! read more

It really is the best bar in the area. They dont tolerate assholes or bullshit here and I am so thankful for it. It's a refuge for industry, neighborhood, and old punk folks. The drinks are reasonably priced, the food is bar fare but good portions, they have DJs spinning vinyl twice a week, it's queer friendly, has a pool table, pinball, a dog friendly smoking patio and a photo booth. Such a fun and funky vibe here and bartenders that are real and don't kiss the asses of entitled customers. Good music, lighting, and decorative walls. When I walked into the Florida room, it had a dive bar feeling except everything was clean. The bathrooms had a lot of graffiti but were very clean. For some reason, I had the "Regal Beagle" vibes walking into this bar. There were cool décor and it seems like if you were a regular, the bartender would know your name. The drinks were cold and the tater tots I ordered with my drinks were crispy with just the right amount of salt to make me want to drink my beer fast and get another beer quickly. It is a very casual place and mellow which is the perfect place to go to and grab a drink after work. They did have a happy hour menu and it was decent. It's across the street from the Multno Co. Library on Killingsworth so why not go read a book until about 5pm and then hop on over to the Florida room for a beer and tots? It is in a great location right on a good bus line route so no need to drive here especially if you had a few to drink. If you are looking to meet up with some friends or grab a quick drink and bite as you wait out traffic or any downpour rain, this is a good place to stop in in the NoPo area. read more

I've truly never experienced anything like this before. After reading other reviews, it seems there's a recurring issue with this specific employee's behavior -- particularly the bartender with long grey "Jesus" hair. I had closed out an $8 cider tab and didn't leave a tip at the time because my friends and I weren't sure whether we'd be staying or heading elsewhere. My intention was to order more drinks and food as the night went on and THEN tip accordingly. I didn't think it was such a big deal -- especially since the service so far hadn't warranted anything exceptional. For context, I don't go out to bars often, and I'm not fully up to speed on typical "bar etiquette" regarding tipping. I also usually draw a line through the tip section when closing a tab to avoid being overcharged -- I've unfortunately had bad experiences in the past with people writing in their own tips. It shouldn't be a requirement, at least in my eyes. When I later tried to order another drink, the bartender abruptly told me, "I'm not serving you anymore." I was honestly confused thinking he was joking I then responded with , "Sorry? I'm confused?" He then goes: "You drew a line over the tip section -- that's not how it works." I tried to explain that I intended to continue ordering throughout the night and just wasn't finished yet -- closing that tab didn't mean I was done for the night. He cut me off and said, "This conversation is over." At that point, I left and tried to make the most of the night regardless. I ended up meeting some really great people, which was a nice silver lining. That said, I definitely won't be returning to this place -- not unless there's a serious change in staff or management. It's disappointing that on an already rough day, this interaction made things worse, but hey whatever helps you sleep at night. read more

The poorest excuse of so called "customer service". I approached the older long haired bartender with a cheerful demeanor and was met with a volatile attitude. When I simply asked him the same question he presented me, he replied with a stunned "Are you kidding me??" And proceeded to snatch the drink from my partners hand and kick us out. This man not only lacks customer service skills, he's clearly inept socially. It's disappointing because the vibe of this place is amazing and the food is on point, neither of which is good enough to make up for the abysmal service. read more

Literally the worst customer service I have experienced in this area. I heard really good things about the wings, so I ordered some to go. Three orders, to be specific. The bartender was clearly annoyed about me "putting in so much food to go" and gave me a bunch of shit about it. It took 40 minutes, which isn't terrible, they were a little busy (it was 5pm when I put in the order). Then the guy who brought it out completely ignored me and gave me the side eye when I thanked him and told him to have a nice night. Wings were hot and crispy definitely recommend. The street tacos were okay I got chicken and in my opinion the chicken was a little dry and not seasoned. So the salsa verde helps. The tacos aren't bad but I've had better. No shade I would recommend this place read more

what a horrible experience. all staff is incredibly rude and unmannered, with exception to female bartenders. my friend was cut off after his very first drink for not tipping. secondly, no smoking signs are in the patio, so we went by the fence to smoke. some rude kid snatched my drink (didn't even appear he worked there) and crinkled it without explanation. "can't have your drink outside" ok.... try to go back in and grab my wallet, to which the exact replica of David Cross, tell me im "not allowed back inside because I brought a drink outside." i've never heard of that, also he could've warned me since I walked right past him to join my friends while they smoked (we thought we were being respectful by smoking outside) not a warning, not a helpful conversation, not a single manner in sight. screw this bar don't come here it's unbelievable how it's operated. they were extremely rude to my Hispanic friend that got cut off for "not tipping" and says a lot. read more

This place is wild. It's one of those dive joints that has a dark setting with loud rock music going on and people smoking and talking loud. It's definitely not my scene but it's a great place to grab some late night food for that buzz. It's all basically drunk food! I had their famous tatchos which is well worth the buy. I came in here for drinks on a date and we opted for some tacos. The drinks were strong and the tacos were some of the best I've had. It was $9 for three tacos. On the way back to the restroom, I noticed that they had ping-pong and pool in the back room. I wouldn't of even noticed it was there if I hadn't gone to the restroom. I definitely go back. Fun place. The only thing that was a little annoying was the area where we were sitting at there was a red and green laser light that kept landing in strange patterns on my date's face. This is one of my favorite neighborhood bars. I'm not really sure what more one could ask for in a bar. This place has a covered front patio (as I am no longer a smoker I tend to not sit out there unless it is summer time). There are plenty of tables between the front room and the back. Most tables contain fun/interesting art work painted on them. The drinks here are reasonably priced, especially if you swing by for happy hour. They have several hard ciders to choose from which always makes me happy because I'm not a beer drinker. When I am in need of something stronger than cider the Florida Room has many specialty drinks and a solid bloody mary. I believe they also infuse their own alcohol as well. If you are in need of some activity to go along with your drinks this bar has a few pinball machines and even a photo booth for some super silly memories. I've never been disappointed with any of the food I have ordered here, but I know what to expect....bar food. The happy hour menu is great and the nachos are gigantic. They have options for both the meat eaters and the vegetarians. Definitely does the trick to satisfy any case of the munchies one may get while knocking back a few tasty adult beverages. read more

I'd been here a few times since it was next door to the Cascade PCC campus when I was going to school there. It seemed like a fairly normal neighborhood beer bar, mayhap a bit overdecorated and too loud. Then they started pushing this SIN and Church of the Bloody Mary thing. Oh, blasphemy, how Marilyn Manson. *yawn* Thanks for playing, whatevs. But in the neighborhood and incredibly hungry, had to give it a shot. And the brunch they offer is pretty dang good. And cheap. And they use tater tots instead of hash browns, which at least is interesting. They name their menu items (grrr), so "The Basic" was only $4.50, no meat but a side is only $2 so no complaints there. I got "The Breakfast Trough" which was a bowl of tater tots, scrambled eggs and sausage gravy. There's some other interesting things on the menu, but you can still get bacon & eggs, biscuits & gravy. For some reason I thought you'd have to go to the bar, but there was table service to be had. The waitress was also the bartender so it wasn't zippy but I think I was here after their rush so I'm okay with that. She was friendly and competent, I'm happy. I can only give three stars because of the irritating decor. Just trying WAY too hard, like a hipster Applebee's on the walls. And I hope they don't turn the music up that loud before noon. What I like best about the Florida Room is the sign and the window display - funny funny funny. The bathrooms are dark and dirty with chalk board walls for folks to leave there messages. Pinball - can't go wrong there. Drinks are cheap and well made, good number of options on tap. Plenty of bike parking and nice outside seating. There is a younger hipsterie crowd, not too diverse. The Florida Room is best for recovering Catholics like myself who want to worship on Sunday mornings. Thankfully the FR provides The Church of the Bloody Mary on Sundays and throughout the week. The food is hit or miss but mostly hit. They have a deep-fried avocado which is de-lish but sometimes the tots are a little under-done. Overall, good fried bar food and good service. And what other bar in Portland has corn dogs with mustard listed on a menu featuring a picture of the Virgin Mary? I've lived down the street from this bar for a few years now so it's been my go-to neighborhood bar for sometime. They've always been good to me, ample seating, cheap drinks, tots any way you want them. Except the blue cheese has always sucked, but there is only so much you can ask for in a dive bar. I'd love to give them 4 stars after the numerous pleasant times there, but something happened this weekend that really disappointed me. We had just finished taking part in North Portland Santacon and we wanted to have a relaxing drink and some tots to finish out the night. It wasn't late, maybe 7:00 so we decided to stop by FR since it was on our way home. Once we got to the door a bunch of workers rushed to the door and said that we are not allowed to come in as the bar is off limits to santas. Now if it had been a dozen of us I would understand, but there were 4 of us, the same 4 of us that go there very frequently. oh man oh man oh man. *taking a big breath because i'm huge* i have loved and frequented florida room for 8 and half years to be exact, but tonight marks the last night here. I ordered a hummus plate - one hour later, I checked in because I hadn't gotten it yet (not in a pressing way - in a gentle way because they were busy ) to see the status of it - because i was running late to see my favorite butt rock band - and the bartender responded with "we got a bunch of orders at once, that's just how it is" and stormed off. i'm having a hard time describing how rude this big tall boy was, but he truly made me feel like a horrendous human for asking where the hummus was after waiting for it for an hour. I get being busy, but for context - my friend who ordered at the same time as me got his soup 30 minutes prior to me checking in. i would definitely recommend this place to my enemies. 5 stars and a 25% tip so these idiots can pay their bills. read more

My Mom, sister, brother and I were visiting from out of town for my brothers birthday and we decided to stop in to check out this fun little bar and we really enjoyed ourselves. Even though we were older than everyone in there, all the people were friendly and the staff was amazing! We had a really nice hipster guy Max that served us and he was a hoot! As a Florida man I was excited to be brought to this bar. The teal in the front really caught my attention and got my dolphin blood pumping. Bartenders were cool and the drinks were good. The infused spirits really made you feel like you could modify your drinks. Two hours in I was tickled pink. There were two songs in que and then my song was on. I was going to hit the sweet spot when the booze is right and the song is tight.... Enter the buzz kill. My song gets stopped short by the bartender 2 lines in :/ Fine, I admit it was Limp Bizkit but Rollin' is actually not that bad of a song when anaylized from a rhythmic view point . I wouldn't call this a dive bar exactly - I didn't see any unsavory types at all, and certainly it was mostly clean inside, if a bit run-down. It's more just kitschy table art and decor, combined with low-rent vibe. I have to say the happy hour is a hard-working deal. We got 2 beers, a cider, a champagne, and some tots for $22...nothing wrong with that. So, we had fun washing down fried potato product with some good beer and enjoying the afternoon. I've been to this spot occasionally since it opened 10 (?) years ago. It's an A-OK place, but after tonight, no more. Why? A pitcher of beer costs $24 effing dollars. Huh? Yes, pints cost $6 which is pretty standard, but they now seem to charge by the pint and there are 4 of them in a pitcher, hence $24! Wow.
