The atmosphere was charming especially with the fall theme and pumpkins - there is quite a collection of private labeled jarred fruits and vegetables, a little too commercialized for me but seems to be a popular stop just off the highway. There was a decent selection of produce but some looked sad like they have been sitting out for sometime with some wrinkling and soft textures. Unfortunately we didn't see anything that we just had to have but it was an interesting visit. I think it would be an interesting place to return to when there were scheduled events or when more things are in season...

The staff here was extremely friendly and outgoing and greeted every customer entering the store many by name showing the loyalty this little market has earned. Not all of the products are local to Florida but you will find brands not found at most large supermarkets. Two of my favorite products of all time are sold here: Jake & Amos Beets and Jake & Amos Vanilla Peaches. I also enjoy periodically picking random dressings and sauces to try. It changed hands and now has a "cute" little produce area and unfriendly staff. I have basically stopped going because you just do not feel the love anymore. They really have to change the lady who is always there because she is so unwelcoming. It's such a turn off. I'd rather just go to Publix and that is saying a lot for me because I adore supporting local farmers. Ick. They really lost the charm since the sale despite their "cute" / updated farm stand. Hours expanded at least. But ick. I leave there unhappy after interacting with her.

We were on our way to family in Ocala early in the morn when i knew it was time to stop for some coffee(the wife doesnt do wel without her java). I did a quick search for a spot, and saw a dunkin nearby. I exited the highway and headed that way. as I got closer I grinned. I had never been to the Villages. My gal didn't know what that was so as we pulled up and parked she said, "what town is this". I just played dumb. We walked into the Brownwood square and I had to tell her. She really didn't know much about the Villages so I filled her in. for my first impression it was great. The farmers market wrapped around the square and trickled out to the side streets some as well. They had the usual thing you would hope for like produce and pieces of art made by locals. But it had other things you dotn see often like some more quirky artisans, multiple flower and plant booths, empanadas, and the one that hooked me, a both that had all kind of mushrooms to eat. We swing by here about once a month for the farmers market, and enjoy it every time.
