The market features local farmers with fruits and vegetables, local baked goods, artisan foods, prepared foods, meats and fish, cut flowers, plants, crafts and more. It was a nice stroll over a couple blocks purchasing several items along the way including sourdough bread, quiche, honey, fruit and desserts.

There's a great variety of vendors and while things can be a little pricey, that's just the nature of a farmer's market and supporting small businesses. I would come here every week if I could and it's always the highlight of my Saturdays! I will say parking can be tough so I like to come early, but usually if you drive around enough you can eventually get a spot. The vendors are always super friendly and lots of them will give out samples as well. I definitely recommend coming here to start out your weekend with something pleasant.

They had a really good, sweet flavor and made for multiple dessert treats for us throughout our week in Florida. The oranges that my husband bought were huge! They were honeybells, but they ended up being a bit on the sour side, unfortunately. I tried one, and I was done. But he ended up eating the rest of them, so he must have not minded them as much as I did. The people here were very friendly. They have lots to look at. Those frozen ice pops in the cooler have my name on them for the next time we come visit! They sounded amazing!

The fish monger has fresh fish. I love the variety and he has ice to keep it safe for the ride home. I'd bring a cooler. I bring my rolling cart/stroller. You'll be glad you did. Your hoard gets heavy. There's plenty of produce. My favorite day to go is on Sunday morning. Nothing's cheap but it's not as expensive as places like Publix, Earth Fare or Sprouts. It's no frills, not overly crowded, and not cutesy (the Hale Plantation market is crowded cutesy and has way more non agricultural stuff). Opens at 8:30, and it is mostly winding down by 11ish. Regulars here are at Dolce Vita bakery with a bunch of baked goods with real fruit or chocolate in them, grower John with low priced live plants (vegetable sets and some Florida specific fruit plants like passion flower and dragon fruit cactus) and seasonal greens and roots, Flour Pot bakery with several fancy breads, turmeric vendor, honey vendor, and several small growers / farmers selling seasonal produce. You can sometimes get local meats and just about always get yard eggs. This past year, there has been a couple selling native plants for landscaping. Restrooms are available and are bare bones and clean enough. They have some garden cart wagons that you can use for towing small children around or like a shopping cart for carrying plants. There are no crafts or whatever flea market type stuff here. It is pretty much all agricultural. It is next to the firestation and fire truck depot, so if you have kids you can look at the fire trucks with them.

I love walking around, checking out the booths, and finding new local treasures. One of my absolute musts now is a matcha drink from Honey Nitro + Cold Brew. I had never tried matcha before, but a friend recommended their version with vanilla or lavender, and oh my gosh, it was creamy, smooth, and totally addictive. I seriously didn't know I could love matcha this much! Pappa Thai's summer rolls are another go-to. They're fresh, flavorful, and honestly hit the spot every single time. Light but filling and perfect for walking around with. And I can't forget Proud Pickles, they're such a fun little stand, and I'm absolutely obsessed with their items. Sweet, tangy, spicy, you name it, they've got it. I'm giving 4 stars only because I wish there were a few more vendors but I understand Gainesville is a small town. But honestly, it's still such a lovely experience and totally worth checking out if you're in the area.
