My family can't say enough good things about Maui Float on Swim Lessons! Nia is the BEST!!! She is so patient, has such a kind heart, prompt, professional, knowledgeable, I could go on. After three private lessons, our four year old son can now swim independently with no flotation devices :) He was extremely hesitant in the beginning, but with Nia's gentle energy, he kept asking when the next "swim lesson day" was. This is a kid who previously didn't like water over his head in the bath and now he's swimming and grabbing sink toys. Also, Emily has such great customer service, she is prompt with her replies, super friendly/personable and works her hardest to accommodate your schedule! Kids 4 and 6 made so much progress with three 30 min lessons each! The little one finally is comfortable putting her head under water and blowing bubbles. On a whim I thought it might be a nice idea to book swim lessons for our kids during our stay at Nanea Ocean Resorts on Maui. I didn't know if it was even possible to book independent private swim lessons to happen at our resort, and I didn't know what kinds of teachers we might find on Maui. Well it seems there aren't many, but Emily was phenomenal. She came to our hotel for four days of lessons, spending 30 min with each of our kids each day. After day 1, our normally shy and self-conscious 6-year-old son couldn't stop asking when Emily would be returning. Our normally courageous and outgoing four-year-old daughter on the other hand became suddenly fearful about swimming with Emily. Emily effortlessly adjusted to each kid's style and tailored the lessons perfectly to each one. Our son earnestly applied himself to learning each skill, and Emily was great about understanding where the edge of his comfort zone was - pushing him and cheering him on. Since our daughter was more resistant, Emily turned her lessons into playtime, including some fun with a mermaid tail that made our daughter forget that she was actually learning new skills. Emily is great; she comes to wherever you're staying to give lessons - convenience is a must for me. We were on Maui for a few days and I booked two lessons with her for my 2 kids (ages 2 and 5). She is gifted with kids and has a way of teaching that really resonated with mine. My 5 year can swim already - Emily worked on correcting her form and making her a more efficient swimmer. The second lesson Emily got my daughter in the ocean to try and teach her how to snorkel and get her less scared of the ocean. Emily was incredibly patient pushing a little bit but not too much. She knew when my daughter had had enough and moved the lesson back to the pool where she taught my daughter how to dive with a snorkel and clear the tube after diving. My 2 year old is quite stubborn and challenging. Emily got him blowing bubbles, kicking, and even doggy paddling a bit. She taught us how to get him to put his head back in the water and how to get him started on the safety back float. I'm hoping she makes it out to San Francisco sometime so we can take more lessons with her. My kids learned more from her in two 1 hour lessons than they have in months of taking private 20 min lessons in SF. Nia was our Grandson's instructor for two weeks. Nia is super nice and our grandson (4 years old) loved working with her. She made the lessons fun. She came to the Montage Resort and was always on time. When she was a few minutes late one day, she called. It was a real pleasure to meet her. Over the course of a few weeks of private instruction with Natalie, our six year old son went from anxiously swimming with floaties to enthusiastically swimming underwater and across the pool without assistance. He's now a very confident and excited swimmer, wanting to spend the whole day in the pool. We first booked a week of lessons, but quickly realized it worth continuing throughout our time in Maui. We scheduled 9am lessons for three weeks straight (weekdays only) and saw great improvements everyday. We even closed out our lessons with an ocean swim on the final day! Natalie was a kind, patient, and fun instructor and an all around pleasant person to be around. The entire process was simple and laid back. Our kids (5year okd)made significant progress in learning to swim after few sessions with Stephania while we were on vacation in Maui. Emily was very responsive and was able to schedule multiple sessiobs for us. The actual trainer Stephania was very punctual, very communicative and overall was able to teach our girls many new techniques. Emily held 1:1 private lessons with each of my two boys (ages 10 and 6) and with me; in total, we each did five lessons over a week. My 10 year old could swim, but we wanted to improve his various strokes. My 6 year old could not swim very well and is prone to feeling anxious. I only had a self-taught freestyle which I wanted to improve. Emily was a great teacher for all of us, meeting us each where we were. For the kids, they looked forward to swim classes each day with no resistance compared to other swim classes they've taken at home. After our last lessons, my younger son immediately asked me to make sure to book Emily in the future when we return to Maui. Why? Both kids said: "Emily is fun!" For me, I'd highlight a few things. She was easy to coordinate with via email, and each day she would text and check in on the schedule. She recognizes we're on vacation and keeps things flexible which is perfect, especially when our schedule was unpredictable. As a teacher, she is great at giving me just the right cue and drill to work on to improve aspects of my stroke. She was also good at explaining where I was going wrong so I could understand the physics / body positioning I should have instead. My freestyle stroke is stronger, more even (strong vs weak side, now finally starting to be able to breathe on both sides), and I have a number of drills I can continue working on myself. We first found Emily two years ago, when our only goal was to help our 3 year old fall in love with the water. My son was generally clumsy and uncoordinated and did not want to dwell on what he thought he wasn't good at....and then comes Emily! First of all, he fell in love with her and begged us to rearrange all of our plans on Maui so that we could book more lessons. Secondly, he actually forgot all about being scared and went for it! Thirdly, in four lessons, my son went from a drowning hazard to an aware floater. Emily made things so easy - came to our hotel, ready to go, with all the toys and equipment and the most positive attitude! She knew exactly what and how to work on skills, and even zoned in on my son's learning style. We were so excited to go back to Maui and find her again! She was super easy and flexible to schedule with (she was mindful of temperamental weather, and made sure we fit in a lesson at the optimal time of day). She was very responsive and beamed with excitement every time we saw her. She also taught my son how to snorkel in the pool - which was amazing practice and preparation for us snorkeling in the open waters of the Pacific! I cannot wait to go back and have her work with my kids again! The swimming progress my son made was undeniable. We just got back from our family vacation in Maui and our four days of swim lessons with Emily were definitely a highlight! My kids are 2 and 4 and in weekly swim lessons at home, but made SO MUCH progress with Emily it was amazing! My 4 year old was so happy and proud of himself by the end of 4 days - swimming much longer distances than before and with much more confidence. And Emily did a great job teaching some safety basics to my 2 year old who loves the water but previously would kind of just jump in with no plan! Emily got her to learn to grab for a person or turn around and swim to the wall. Emily even got snorkels on both my kids, and fins on my 2 year old who loved it! Emily is an amazing teacher and wonderful with kids. She taught our three old at the pool of the hotel we were staying at in Kapalua. She came for four days and not was it a nice break for us parents, but our toddlers swimming went to the next level. We have been through 5+ swimming teachers at our local health club and she was the best so far. Each day she had something new and fun to do for him. She also takes great photos. Since we had a few minutes of extra time on a couple lessons because our toddler got tired, I also went in the pool with our 9 month old and she gave him a little lesson on getting comfortable with the water while I held him. If you are on vacation, I highly highly recommend that you hire her and give you and your spouse a nice break while your child learns a ton and has fun. read more

We hired Emily to work with my 3 year old and 6 year old while we vacationed in Maui for 3 weeks. The boys loved her right away. She came prepared with goggles, dive toys, kick boards, noodles and everything they needed for practice. My 6 year old is on a swim team, so we asked her to work on his free and backstroke. His technique improved so much after just 3 sessions. We just got home and after a month off from his team he just took 14 seconds off his backstroke and 7.5 off his freestyle! She also got him comfortable in snorkel gear so we could take him out in the ocean. My 3 year old also made great progress with here and is thisclose to swimming on his own. Just needed a few more sessions but we ran out of time. They both looked forward to their lessons and asked when Emily would be coming. Just a terrific experience with Emily - she taught 3 lessons to my 5-year old daughter on a recent trip to Maui. My daughter had been taking lessons for over a year but still lacked comfort and confidence in the water. Emily drilled into her problem areas and had her swimming across the pool in no time!
