Sadly, it wasn't just gunk in the USB port, but it was corroded enough that it needed replacing, and the parts and labor came to about a hundred and sixty dollars. I was very satisfied with the time it took. From dropping the phone off to completely replacing the USB charger took a little under an hour and a half and then I was on my way. Salesman told me it was dirty and they would clean it when replacing battery and never mentioned word failing. Failing and dirty do not mean the same thing to me! Manager unhelpful and condescending. He's also the repair technician. Go figure.
