Save the record store bbq lunch

Came down for their Save Record Store day that had music outside with KISS FM onsite and a BBQ pit with sausage or chicken with rice and beans. It was a great little block party with plenty of people. Had to check out the store and was pleased with their rock selection and back area with trinkets and such. People here were nice and glad to have found another record store in town.

this place is DOPE!!!! the energy is amazing, the owners are warm & welcoming, and oh MAN do they have some cool stuff in there. I'm literally stopping by one more time before I fly back home, just for the boost of serotonin. WHAT A GEM!

Patches, stickers and vintage vinyl! You know you need Def Leppard's, "Pyromania" in your record collection like Now!

I remember back in the day when 99.5 KISS reigned FM Radio and a carload full of wasteoids would descend upon our city. Their mission: to hunt for the latest local music. Alongside Hogwild Records, Flipside was the only other musical outlet that carried cool shirts, stickers, patches, posters, vinyl, tapes and a dizzying array of pipes. (Not that I would know anything about those.) But as quickly as music mediums have transferred into streaming formats so has Flipside Records relocated to another place. Time moves forward and everything changes. Or does it? Although it's moved further down South West Military Drive it's exactly the same way as I remembered. It still reeks of hippie incense but in a smaller space. Inside there are shelves of classic rock on vinyl. The walls are decorated with posters, fliers of upcoming local shows. Display cases house cassettes, cd's, stickers, patches, t-shirts and of course glass pipes of ever variety. Walking through the small aisles made me harken back to a time without the advent of online shopping. When record stores were a great source for discovering new music, thus a scene was created. Sure the store is starting to look its age but who said that rock and roll was meant to be pretty. I would remiss if I didn't add that the counterperson was extremely helpful and friendly. If you're in the market for some music to remind you of your head-banging days or are in desperate need of that patch that will make your denim jacket pop, Flipside is for you! It is a bit pricey but a small price to pay for a Southside staple that has been here since the dawn of the mullet.

Flip Side Record Parlor is one of those places you can feel the history when you walk in, and I'm terribly grateful to Chris, one of my former photog mentors, for putting me onto it. Chris has been friends with owner Clarisa since childhood. When I told her I knew him, she immediately pulled out old pictures of them from the 90s, and then of Flip Side, which has been in business in San Antonio since 1972! The original owner, Doug, sadly passed away seven years ago, but his spirit is still very much alive in the many quirky relics, incredible woodwork, and his Grey parrot who can be overhead saying "goodbye" through the fantastic selection of music playing on vinyl. It's the kind of ghost you want haunting you, fully equipped with records, tees, vintage clothes, incense, posters, novelties, and everything you need to be nostalgic of good times. Doug passed the business on to Clarisa knowing full well she would put the same level of love into in - and she really does! Clarisa has archives of stories from her 24 years working here, including one she shared about the wooden crates being hand-built in-house as they were too big to fit through the door. And you'll be amazed at what you dig up in them! Definitely check this small business out in southside Alamo City.

Especially this Mariah Carey poster! I really appreciate them giving this to me!

No place like it anymore. Just go and see. It is as much of a museum of music history as a store.

I decided to come in one Sunday afternoon to check out the record collection and see what I could…read morefind, and boy was I a happy lady to take a chance. The name sounded super familiar to me, so I had a hunch it might be the same owners/shop as the one they had in Austin (which is no longer around), and it was!!!!! We walked into a giant space with many records, genres, and great vintage music items you can take pictures of and post on the 'gram. They have so many vintage posters and items hanging all over the walls and ceilings here! Take your time as you look around, as there are so many artists and genres you may want to have and collect for yourself. I found a rare vinyl LP of all San Antonio artists (old and new) that I could not have found anywhere else. It was an excellent price for such a great find! I even found an excellent 1970s stand-up live comedy stint that Cheech and Chong did in LA here that is excellent quality and has beautiful pictures inside the LP. The employees were super helpful, too, and even offered to recommend an artist or bands to listen to if you let them know you were down. There are turntables and headphones for you to plop down the record you are considering and give it a spin before you buy it. Parking is located at the back of the building with no fuss. There seems to be some construction along the front of the building, so I am unsure if you can park there once that is done. I have added this shop as a stop whenever I visit San Antonio, as it is a unique record gem hidden in SA.

I was in New Braunfels for the weekend, down from North Texas. And decided to hit up a local record…read moreshop to kill some time. A couple of locations came up on my Google search and I chose this one. I'm glad I did. Not only did I find a Rush album I had been looking for some time and was about to order it online, but I got it brand new and at a great price. I did go thru a lot of their used inventory and really felt they have a good selection of every music genre you can think of. Pricing was also fair across the board. I didn't see anything overpriced. I would've bought a few more albums but I have thousands of records and running out of space for them so these days I have to be more selective with what I buy. Oh, and they also have a good selection of CDs, Cassettes and even 8 Track tapes. Now the one area I will give constructive feedback is in there organization. Especially when it comes to their CDs and cassettes which are just laying in stacks and you really have to move things around to see everything. But it could be because they have such a large volume of inventory that they're out of space. Something I can get so I won't ding them for it. I will also compliment the gentleman that Rand me up. When he saw the album I was buying he told me a personal story on how he had gone to see Rush during that tour. I always appreciate when the folks behind the counter take interest in their clients enough to engage in a little conversation. That goes a long way in my book. I definitely plan on returning when in town again and recommend to anyone looking for records and other physical media fairly priced

Then, when I went to psy they were going to give me the Dick Tracy one. I told them no, I wanted to pay for it, it gives them the money. Isn't that the point!?
