I am currently kicking myself for not knowing this Half Price Books existed!…read more So long story short, I came to this HPB store because I wanted to sell a book that I had to copies of. Selling the book was super easy! They have a buy section at the end of the store where they can buy either in bulk or singles. The price you get for the book is determined by their popularity. For mine I got $6 which I thought was a good deal. I love books, so of course I had to go and explore around the store. The first thing that caught my eye was their Half Pint Book (kids) section which had so many amazing options of new and used items. They even had a bunch of kids toys and arts and crafts kits that were brand new. Frankly I can't wait to bring my little one and show him all the amazing books in that section. Another great find was their "New Bestseller" section which is right at the front of the store. They had a brand new book which I had just paid $32 and Barnes & Noble (which is across the street by the way), and they had it for $17.49! Like whaaaaaat?! Obviously since I have no self control I went ahead and used the money from my sell into buying another book, which makes it almost free, right? #GirlMath Anyhow! Nowhere is about the size of your average Half Price Books and as someone else said, it's like stepping into a grown-up Scholastic Book Fair. Socks, bookmarks, cards, they sell so many things. Towards the back they also have a coffee shop! I need to go back and order a cortado for my review series. You can tell this shop is well-loved. It was extremely crowded. Staff remained in excellent spirits providing top notch customer service. I fell in love with this shop immediately. I was already a fan based on word of mouth. The guys here are the absolute coolest and have been so helpful, and the amount of awesome merch crammed into this place is INSANE. From board games and their accessories to giant superhero statues, they have it all. We've purchased almost all of our comic books here, several Pokémon and One Piece cards/packs, plushies, and a few figures from them. Their layaway plan is super reasonable and made it possible for us to bring home one of our largest figures, J. Scott Campbell's Alice, to date. It is located in a strip mall off Fredericksburg, and it won't be found unless ones looking for it, which I was. It is not a very big place, but it does have a lot of knickknacks, including an impressive collection of stickers, bookmarks, and vinyl records, to name a few. It actually is a pretty neat place. The books are used and for the most part they're very reasonably priced. They do not have an inventory of the books, so you do have to look through shelves, if looking for a particular title. And their staff is only one person at the cashier. Which is to say that you can browse to your heart's content, and discover some major reads. They also had quite a few boxes of books that were under one dollar or $.50. This is one of those places that I intend to return to, because of pricing and to support small businesses. I truly recommend visiting this place. It makes for a fun visit.

Sprayed edge favorites and current picks, manga and danmei, Legos and puzzles, a Harry Potter section, you name it, they probably have it. If they don't, it's super easy to have it ordered for you. It's never difficult to find a staff member if you need assistance as they are constantly restocking shelves or checking in with customers, and the layout of the store itself is easy to maneuver. No floor to ceiling shelving units that block your view. I can't recommend this Barnes and Noble location enough. It's one of the best ones in San Antonio!
