I drive up and down this stretch of Broadway all the time and somehow had never noticed Nowhere Bookshop until this past weekend, when I was walking back to my car after visiting another business in the shopping center. I was walking past their windows and stopped in the my tracks. When I walked in, I was so surprised and so annoyed at myself for not realizing it was here for four years!!! So what's so great about Nowhere Bookshop? First off, for modern independent bookstores, Nowhere Bookshop is huge. It's spacious and well-stocked, with plenty of books you didn't even know you wanted to read. They're also full of interesting non-book merchandise, too - stickers and socks and games and cards and book-related gifts. (The customer service is great, too.) I picked up two books and a sticker within a few minutes of walking around the shop. But then on top of all that? On top of being a great bookstore? It has a coffeeshop and bar in the back. Tons of seats, which means you can buy a book and then enjoy the first ten or twenty or one hundred pages with a coffee or a glass of wine or a beer. Good customer service, consistent with the customer service in the bookshop part of the space. They also have pastries and snacks. I had a glass of wine while enjoying my book, and it was a wonderful experience. All of this adds up to make Nowhere Bookshop a great bookstore. San Antonio is lucky to have it! I'll definitely be back!

Coffee shop and bookstore combo is really cute. The coffee is great both the drip and cappuccino. There are a ton of flavors to try as well if you prefer sweeter drinks. The breakfast sandwiches are from Scratch Kitchen locally and were delicious. We split a chocolate croissant that was big and they heated up for us. Prices are fair and they have loyalty points. The baristas were upbeat and friendly. They have a bunch of book recommendations and it's a nice spot to spend your Sunday.

Walking in felt like stepping into a grown-up Scholastic Book Fair -- in the best way. The romance section? A little dangerous for my wallet. The bookmarks were too cute to pass up. And the café was cozy and inviting, the kind of spot that makes you want to stay awhile. The whole place had this warm, aesthetic, slightly magical vibe -- like it was made for people who actually love books. You go in telling yourself you're "just browsing"... and somehow leave with a stack of novels and a latte. No regrets.

Such a lovely bookstore! I've been here several times and I can't wait to go again. The staff is super friendly and make good recommendations. They have every genre you can think of....YA, Romantasy, Fiction, Mystery, books by local authors and more. Don't forget to go all the way to the back. There's a cafe with assorted baked goods and coffee. Be sure to check out all their events.

Absolutely loved it... it's a hidden gem. I frequent bookstores in the local area and didn't realize that I passed by this place so many times and never noticed it. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing, there's a coffee bar in the back, a nice spot against the wall for hanging out and the best part to me are the bay windows on the children side where you can sit and read and watch the world go by. The staff is nice, chatted a bit and was given a recommendation. The book selection is good and we had a wonderful time. Will definitely return.

I love this cute little bookshop! It's owned by author Jenny Lawson. I love all the quirky stickers. There is also a coffeeshop in it and lots of places to hang and sit down. The selection for pastries in the bookshop were ample, i saw a pistachio chocolate croissant, cookies, muffins. I only ordered an arnold palmer and bottled water. The arnold palmer was good! The staff were friendly, and I saw a lot of notes regarding book reviews from staff which I loved. Prices are at par with regular bookshops such as B&N. Would love to come back here and found my new reading nook! Just wish they had a bigger selection of books. Although there is quite a wide variety.

This is a cute bookstore with great vibes! They a good selection for your little readers to include window seating for reading. For the adults, they have a bar along with bar seating to include alcoholic beverages, as well as coffee and some treats. For all the moms out there, If you plan to take your little ones along, just a fair warning that the word fuck is displayed on all their stickers, mugs, socks, books, etc. they are also LGBTQ+ and show it proudly.

    And...more books!

Recommend: Yes! Service: I was greeted immediately by staff, I was asked if I needed help throughout my visit, and the coffee service was fast. Selection: The selection of books is small but it varies GREATLY. Hands down you'll be able to find something you enjoy. Value: it felt like the prices of the books were on par with Barnes and Noble. A little bit more expensive than Amazon. But you do get great ambiance in the book shop. Plenty of seats to drink your coffee and read your book. There is also an area with children's books and so many other goodies to purchase.

Super cute bookshop! We got an iced coffee in the back while we walked around. Love that they have employee recommendations and super cute stickers!!

This spacious book has a charming coffee bar, making it the perfect spot to browse, relax, and lose yourself in a great read. Their selection is outstanding, offering everything from baby books to adult fiction and non-fiction, curated with care and creativity. They also have a fantastic collection of stickers, mini gifts, and other unique finds. With lots of seating and plenty of nearby parking, it's an inviting space to spend an afternoon. Pro Tips: * Take a moment to browse the staff picks--there's something for every reader. * it's full of fun, unique items perfect for bookish friends. * Grab a coffee and settle in--there's plenty of seating for you to enjoy your new finds.

Such a cute shop! I can't believe they've been open for 4 years and I had never visited before. They have a cute layout with an awesome selection. The decor feels like walking into some of the most popular books. The service was great, but what made this place different was that customers were comfortable enough to exchange book recomendations and I love that! A place where booklovers can come together.

This bookshop has a great variety of products. They have books, funny stickers, tote bags, socks, etc. I got a latte that was yummy. Next time I want to try one of their baked pop tarts or their breakfast empanadas.

Super cozy bookshop! It's like the hand picked all of the best books in one store. I loved seeing all the staff picks throughout the store. The cafe was great. They have pastries from local shops like scratch kitchen and miss chickpeas. They even have a variety of drinks such as wine , beer, ciders, kombucha and coffee. We grabbed a cider during happy hour and browsed around.I liked that they put a personal touch on their books with a stamp of the store.

It is not a very big place, but it does have a lot of knickknacks, including an impressive collection of stickers, bookmarks, and vinyl records, to name a few. It actually is a pretty neat place. The books are used and for the most part they're very reasonably priced. They do not have an inventory of the books, so you do have to look through shelves, if looking for a particular title. And their staff is only one person at the cashier. Which is to say that you can browse to your heart's content, and discover some major reads. They also had quite a few boxes of books that were under one dollar or $.50. This is one of those places that I intend to return to, because of pricing and to support small businesses. I truly recommend visiting this place. It makes for a fun visit.

What a gem for only $16.95. I'm going to really enjoy this one. Her work is raw, powerful, and unapologetic. I also bought a bookmark which is something I always do when buying a new book. Some negative reviews have claimed poor customer treatment, but my experience was the opposite. I bought a really nice autographed copy of "Baa Baa Blacksheep" and also a memoir by Eisenhower's speechwriter (see "eclectic and niche" above). This copy had no price written in it and had a goodwill sticker on it. I asked the lady at the counter how much the book was, and she looked it over and expressed her horror that the old sticker had not been removed. So she gave me the book at no charge and we had a great conversation about a unique picture of JFK's motorcade in San Antonio on the wall. Just a really nice experience.

Outside the shop, before walking in, there are several bargain books displayed that help with a visual cue of where you should be heading to. Organization of all records was pretty decent. Everything is spaced out and no overcrowding of records to be found here. You can browse easily without having any issues. I ended up finding a great early Rihanna LP and my partner found a pretty awesome and good quality of an REM LP here too. We were very happy with our finds and the condition the vinyl was when we brought it home to play.
