Access via the San Antonio public library. You do not need a library card to access the store. LOTS of books available and very affordable prices. Found books that have been on my list for months at reasonable prices. Pretty sure we spent an hour here and spent less than $20 for tons of books. We were visiting from out of town and they graciously provided us with HEB bags to carry our haul back to the hotel.

This is such a cute bookstore! I was here for a yelp event and I'm glad I came! I've never been to the central library before let alone the cellar. When you get off the elevator, you walk right into the store where there is a massive selection of gently used books, tapes, comics, magazines, audiobooks, and more. The employees were super friendly and very helpful. The books are not expensive at all, ranging from $1 to maybe $10 depending on the book and its condition. I left with three international books and I feel so giddy about it!

Of course I'm going to find the local public library while visiting a city for the first time. I want to know the history of a community and there is no better place to find it. Also, I love to observe the architecture and of course I have one more agenda; I always visit their book store. You might find books well worn or just survivors of decades, but I promise you will find something (and at a great price) to take home. This was no different. I took the elevator down to the cellar (hence the name) and saw the entire space filled with books, vinyl records, and periodicals. Like many library bookstores, it is staffed by volunteers. I spent over a hour combing each row and shelf. I left with books, a playbill, and a record. If you are near the area (or lucky enough to live there), be sure to frequent there!

Awesome store in the basement of the San Antonio public library! You have to take the elevator down. They have a huge selection of books, records, and a big children's area! Everything was priced as marked, the children's books we purchased were in great condition and ranged from $1.25 to $6 and we got two records for $8 total. I'm not sure how often they move their inventory, but would love to come back and spend a bit more time there! Check the Book Cellar hours before going, they had signs that they're only open Th, Fri and Sat, from 11 am to 4 pm!

Todays event at The book Cellar was eye opening to say the least! The San Antonio Public Library is very big, in my opinion. I'd never been, so it was well worth the experience. With five floors of books and collections, I can imagine you can find that which you are looking for. I visited the first, second floors and the "Book Cellar". The number of cubicles and computers on the first floor was impressive. The collections on the second floor was also impressive. The cellar is run by a non profit. They are very attentive. Their service is great and the price for the slightly used books is a great value. Thank you Fernanda and Yelp for this additional opportunity to know all that our city of San Antonio has to offer!

Book haven! A place where a lot of people who likes book and music can go to. They have varieties of classic, YA, and more generes of books from very old to new printed. You can also see some other classic vinyl and magazines. This place I shared is on their basement while their 1st level is also a lovely place to read and also use their free usage of computers.

Who would have thought the hottest club in SA would be located in the basement of a library! A well kept secret (to me...anyway...shout out to my girlfriend for enlightening me of the secret tunnels) The BookCellar is a fantastic place to pick up dirt cheap books on topics about anything under the sun. Kept in just as perfect order as the library running above, things are easy to find and staff are happy to assist. I picked up a biography about James Beard I didn't even know existed, and I can be sure I'll return once I'm done for more gems! This is a fantastic place for teachers to comb through to pick up books for their classroom, the prices and selection can't be beat!

What a wonderful place and event to be involved and invited too. I really enjoyed it. The book cellar is a very nice place to go for books and gifts of books for that special friend. You'll find a genre for them and also kids as well at a low low low fraction/bargain of the price. Please visit the book cellar located in the basement of the library. Dive into the many rows of used and non used books they have for sale and emerge yourself into reading again. Thank you for allowing yelp to be part of this event.

My original review was 2 stars because of my experience below. The owners comment on why he had to price his product this way is reasonable and I appreciate him explaining. I have no other reason to be upset and appreciate him informing of the situation I have been excited to play Star Wars Unlimited but packs have been impossible to find. When I called this place I was excited to hear they had booster boxes. When I showed up they were charging scalper prices. A booster box has MSRP of 120-140 ish. They are charging 240 like on eBay. I get people are willing to pay it in places, but a local gaming shop is supposed to support players and vice versa. I told my kids we were getting a box so I got it but have hated myself for doing it. The store was clean and nice. Actually really impressed with everything else just disappointed they would do this to their community

The service is lacking, I was browsing for an hour and not one employee said a single thing to me. During our first visit, my husband asked about some blind bags and was told they were sold out. Shortly afterward, there was a discussion about another customer who had made a complaint and another customer who had made two previous purchases and whether that customer would be eligible to purchase a blind bag since they had only made two purchases. Hearing that interaction felt a little odd and contributed to an atmosphere that didn't feel particularly welcoming. As frequent visitors to many comic book and collector stores, this was one of the only times we didn't feel especially comfortable. Overall, the store has a selection of comics and plenty of boxes to search through. One thing that stood out was a sign stating that books cannot be read or looked through because "this is not a library" and must be purchased first. While that may be store policy, combined with our interactions during the visit, it made the experience less enjoyable than we had hoped being our first visit. Collectors looking for newer books may still find some interesting additions to their collection.

I discovered Sanctuary when I was picking up some wings at WingIt, which is in the same shopping center. My wings weren't ready yet, so I had some time to kill and that's when I noticed this small comic book store. The owner was in the process of closing, but asked me if I wanted to take a look. I immediately fell in love with the place. It has that old paper smell that gives me that feeling of nostalgia. The walls display a bunch of key issues and toys from Star Trek to marvel back when toybiz was making 'em. The owner (and seemingly sole employee), Rolando (I think that's his name) is a very affable and laid back dude. Even though he was staying past closing time, he never rushed me and was even nicest dude you could ever talk to. Still, I didn't want to keep him too long so I told him I'd come back the next day. When I returned I really took a deep dive to see what they had to offer and I was not disappointed. The prices of the comics were very affordable and Rolando is the kind of guy who's open to cutting a fair deal. I couldn't have left any happier. Now, full disclosure: they don't have many new issues that I could see, seems like they deal in mostly back issues. I didn't see too many graphic novels, also I didn't notice any manga but I wasn't really looking for them though. But, if you're like me and like just collecting old comics and toys this is the place for you. Oh! They also carry self-published comics made by local creators which I thought was cool. Definitely would recommend this place!
