I was recently sent a gift orchid for Mother's Day. The sender, an out of town relative, got the address wrong and had the orchid delivered to a home across the street from mine. The owner of that home, a friend of mine, was not at home. In fact, she was gone for several days. When she got home and found the orchid, she immediately delivered it to my house. She had found the orchid in it's glass container but not wrapped in any protective paper, on its side ( we had had a rain storm during that weekend and it was rainy). There were no care instructions or other information attached. On the card, though the address was incorrect, the phone number and name were correct, but I had not received any notification of an attempted delivery. Upset ( the gift was costly and obviously not carefully wrapped for delivery), I called Fleur. The gentleman with whom I spoke checked the information and said that because the address was incorrect, nothing could be done. He would not consider that the rest of the contact information was correct but not used by the delivery folks, nor would he address the lack of protective wrapping or the fact that the orchid had been outside on a porch for three days, unbeknownst to me or the home owner on whose porch it lay. I was told that Fleur was "only the local provider" for the order that was made in NYC and that nothing could be done. I will not recommend this florist to anyone and will suggest that if an out of towner makes an order and learns that Fleur is the local provider that another provider be found. read more
