Best part? They're all free! Woah, wait?! Did you say free?! Yes - here's how it works: You can sign up to either teach a class on a subject you're passionate about or sign up for a class you want to attend. The teacher of your class will post a list of items that they want in exchange for people taking their class. The exchanges are always super simple, asking for you to bring something easy like a can of soup or even an avocado seed. For example, my watercolor teacher wanted used baby food jars so she could turn them into water bowls for her painting classes. I also took a 'talking to the media' class a few years ago while I was in college and learned a lot, that i then took into my internship with Yelp (woop woop!). The classes are only about an hour long, and during COVID19, they've been doing some fun virtual classes too. Join their email list or follow them on socials to stay up-to-date on their classes!

This ranges from arts, crafts, oils, cocktails, homebuying and other topics. You are made aware of what the teacher would like you to bring on the eventbrite page before the class happens. I think this is a great concept and I'm excited to get involved and pick up on some of the new topics that I can learn about, the first class I'm taking is the cocktail course. Classes run on a semester basis and the teachers are all volunteers, you can also pay for courses via volunteering or a pay it forward token Sign up for the classes on eventbrite and all classes are hosted at rabble coffee unless otherwise stated So excited for this!

Today I am receiving the royal tour with Phil Edwards who is in charge of Champions Of Missions. There is a great need for volunteers here. If you have a heart for children and have thought about volunteering some time, you might want to look into Shepherd Community. You can spend as little as an hour a week or as much as you desire. Working with the children will require passing a background check. They have school for kindergarten through high school although not all classes meet here. Some of the high school graduates are the first in the family to graduate. There are classes for adults too. They can learn English, get a GED, learn to sew, and a list of many things. Since poverty is rampant food donations are always needed and appreciated. Shepherd makes sure the children have three meals a day which is a rarity. Churches make up baskets at Christmas time full of makeup and other things women would like and the children are taken to shop and pick out a basket for their mom for a Christmas gift. They are always so excited. Volunteers are needed in many capacities.Volunteer somewhere. You won't regret it. Helping others is one of the greatest feelings and rewards you will ever experience. The pantry is very low on peanut butter, Mac and cheese, Milk, and personal hygiene products. Anything a group or individual can donate is helpful. Go during their open hours or if you have a lot to donate, call them and ask when and where at the building would be best for the delivery. Thanks for reading and thank you if you pass this on to gain volunteers and donations for the children at Shepherd Community! God Bless You

The kids area looked to be updated with a toddler slide, and the big slide was fast and fun!!! I will definitely be back. Eh -- Indy Island is OK. I'll start with the positives:…read more 1. There were always at least half a dozen lifeguards circling the perimeter of the pool and water area. They were constantly walking back and forth, checking things out, so I always felt like my kids were safe. 2. This indoor aquatic center is open year-round, so kids have a place to splash, wade and swim even when it's freezing outside. The day I visited, the water temperature was nice and warm, and the ambient air temp was just as inviting. 3. It's really inexpensive. Prices range from $4 to $6 dollars depending on age and the day you visit. Kids 2 and younger are free. 4. This is a small indoor water park, but it's big enough to have fun for hours. Now for the negatives: 1. This indoor water park is really old and in need of an update, and it shows. The playground structures in the water area are visibly rusted and look dirty. 2. The lock to the bathroom / changing room I was in DID NOT LOCK. It goes without saying that their changing rooms should have working locks. I had to stand by the door to block it, hoping that no one would try to come in! It also didn't have a trash can, for some reason. 3. The hallway to the changing room was super dark and didn't have any lights. Pretty much the last place you want to be changing in is a dark and creepy room. Fix the lightbulbs! This is another simple thing that could be fixed if they kept up the place. 4. They don't allow outside food or drinks inside the aquatic center. You can buy food and drinks at their snack bar, but when I was there (on a weekend), it was closed. Not sure what they expect visitors to do with a closed snack bar during operating hours. I like that Indy offers places like Indy Island so kids can enjoy swimming and playing in the water indoors. But this place is in need of some TLC in order to compete with some of the other indoor aquatic centers.
