Many day cares just seemed like drop off places with not much structured activities while preschools really emphasized their curriculum. We chose to take the preschool route. We also wanted our son to learn a new language and French was a great choice based on his heritage and we love the French culture. We visited the school back in February and Tiphaine and the rest of the staff was fantastic. We had a lot of questions and they really spent the time to walk us through everything. We got a really nice preview of the schools's warm culture. Our son has now been in preschool for the past month and it's been amazing to see him grow, learn French, make new friends, and we can see he is happy and excited to go everyday. PROS: - small teacher to students ratio - friendly community - engaged PA with bunch of events (some virtuals for busy parents and some F2F in the evenings) - caring staff with a new head (Frederique) - designed curriculum - after school activities (sports, yoga, spanish) - early and late drop off / day care options CONS: - tuition is on the high side (monthly installments as an option). I had a good experience with almost all of my teachers (though I had a couple distinguishably quirky ones). I feel that the technology and science aspects were very helpful (I don't know anyone else who used Blackboard before college!). I had a great experience going through the drama program 6th - 8th grade. I loved going to Catalina, Astro Camp, SeaWorld, and going on snowboard trips. The campus is beautiful now. You should've seen it when the school opened back up :) Overall, I appreciate the time and effort of the staff from 1997-2003. Thanks!

Also being a private school overall matters are very low specially lunch staff Mrs Heather and Chris are very rude to kids they yell at them all the time and over the years I keep hearing from kids they feel treated disrespectfully. Also my kids and their friends learnt to say a lot slang words at the school that was very bad for a private school.

The children did their best with what they had. No cafeteria, no proper playground for upper grades, no multipurpose room, and no space - classes were combined. I was part of the community engagement program to promote community in the school. It included a grant and the money was used for other purposes, because it was unallocated funds. The board members are thieves and liars. The principal took on two years of debt (nearly $3m) and because enrollment was low, it was not able to get the financial support from the state. Explore Prime Academy Board members will gaslight your questions and give you a "let's wait and see" response for what's coming next year. Mind you, Explore has its own board and has NOTHING to do with Orange Unified School District. As a parent, I was really hoping this would be the school my daughter would attend for the rest of her school age years. The expansion was slated for K-12. Unfortunately, the nepotism with board members/ former board members hiring friends and relatives to fulfill staff roles without any training or ever working in education, has left me in a lurch in trying to find a middle school for my daughter. I am angry and heartbroken with how her childhood education has been affected. And wish all the parents better fortune if they find another school. Most teachers are going to Magnolia Public Schools and I strongly recommend parents looking into alternatives to Explore Prime Academy. Instead of helping resolve scheduling issues, students were left in situations where they had to drop classes or arrive late. Parents should be able to expect clear communication and support from school administration, especially when scheduling directly affects a student's education. I hope the school takes this concern seriously and works to improve communication and support for both students and parents.

My son was being abused, teased and treated terribly by the other KINDERGARTENERS just because he's a little different , was having trouble adjusting to a school setting. Instead of the teacher helping him make friends, they made him out to seem like the troubled kid. My 5 year old said he left us classroom because "he just wanted to make a friend but everyone is mean to him." They don't give consequences to the kids that were teasing him or hurting him or talked to the parents. My son got yelled to " get the Fuck out of here" BY A FIVE YEAR OLD as soon as he got to school and hit with a hula hoop and no one did anything about it. When my son left his class room randomly and was so upset ,NO ONE called me. This all happened week one of school starting by the way.... And we had to pull him out already. Academics are prioritized but not to an extent which is stressful or anxiety-provoking for students. Oakridge continually scores in the top 10% nationally on standardized testing, but this isn't surprising given Oakridge's extraordinary and passionate teachers. Perhaps what I love MOST about Oakridge (and what sets them apart from other schools) is the religious flexibility, inclusivity and emphasis on character development. Character development is part of the curriculum for all students, with the option for families to incorporate Judeo-Christian Bible study if so desired. Our family is a mix of backgrounds and religions which makes this flexibility so incredibly special and one of a kind. Oakridge genuinely celebrates all cultures and faiths and provides a welcoming, safe and judgement-free space for its students. The school has prepared them for life with strong academic skills and a strong set of Christian values. The facilities are above par, super clean and constantly being updated. The classrooms are equipped with Smart Boards and the classroom materials are current. The middle school operates on a "one to one" lap top program. The teachers and staff are caring and get to know each child as an individual. My children have completely different learning styles and personalities. They both love their school and each has been accommodated with their learning styles in the classroom. Lots of activities are offered outside of the classroom. A great after school sports program, dance classes, music lessons, tutoring, are just a few of the things that are offered. The principal is amazing and has made great strides in keeping St. John's one of the best schools in the area by improving curriculum and overall student growth. As a parent I feel the investment that I have made in my child's education at St. John's is one of the best decisions I have made.
