My 4 year old loved sewing so when I noticed this shop across from where we ate dinner, I knew I…read morehad to make a stop so I could introduce her to a craft I loved as a child. They were closed so we went back this morning. I asked for any kits appropriate for a four year old, and one of the ladies told me to give her a second. She came back with scraps and said they were free so my daughter could find out if she liked it. And then if she did, she had more for my daughter to try. You just don't find this kind of kindness at many shops anymore, and I so appreciate their willingness to pass on their craft like this. I ended up buying some items for myself, and I'm excited to get back on my cross stitch journey while my daughter starts her own.

Enjoyed a quick visit to the shop last week. Some of these older reviews really talk down about the…read moreservice. That wasn't my experience at all. My sister, who is an avid cross stitcher, enjoyed perusing the shelves and looking at threads and patterns. One of the things my sister was very excited to find was hand-dyed backing and a beautiful pattern for a stained glass window. When she couldn't find something she was looking for, she asked for help and received it. The ladies working there were a little quirky, but I think that's to be expected in a cross stitch shop. We also enjoyed meeting Romeo, the beagle. He was very calm and just enjoyed some sniffs and pets before letting us shop.

Very helpful and answered my questions with authority. Now I know they can fix old sewing machines…read moreas well

While they have a nice selection of fabric, the customer service is terrible when it comes to…read moremachine service. The staff never knows when the technician will be in, when the machine will be done, or if he has even looked at it yet. The technician says that he does one thing when it is evident that he has not. Multiple times I have brought my longarm machine home after being "cleaned" and "fixed" only to have the same issues. And I have clearly seen that the machine was not cleaned. I live an hour away and when I call to let them know that the issue was not fixed, the answer is "bring it back in" (2 hour round trip). Most recently, and the last straw, was after bringing my longarm in for a cleaning and being told that I was "first in line", there was no communication about the machine and when I would call, the shop tells me they don't know when he will be in and when he was last in. Then, a week later I called to check on the status of the machine and they say it is ready for pickup. When I got there, it was not ready, but he said I can "finish it" at home. After following his instructions, the machine still did not work properly. He then stated that it would need a $700 part (mind you, the machine was not even in the shop at that time). After spending hours on the phone with the HandiQuilter tech line, I decided I would need to find another dealer. The new dealer opened the machine up and it looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in years (he sent me pictures). The tech said he has never seen a machine that bad. So, it appeared that the $300 that Red Rooster required that I pay upfront for the machine "cleaning" never got done. I will not be going back and will never recommend this shop to anyone else.

Three things stand out to me about this Dick's store location…read more 1. It is busy all the time. Any day of the week. Any time of day. 2. It is very clean and merchandise is always nicely arranged. 3. Online order pickup is great. They always have your order ready on time and you never have to wait long at the pick up desk. Considering how busy they are (see #1), I am always pleasantly surprised by this.

Hadn't been to this store in eons. I was desperate to find a pelvic and/or thigh/groin support…read morebelt/strap. I already scoped out another store, but found nothing. It popped in my head to try Dick's. I thought for sure they'd have one, considering it's an athletic store, and huge at that. I am a 53-yr-old woman with RA and fibro, and I severely strained the thigh, back, pelvis and groin areas. I had to use my cane to enter the store; I grabbed a small cart to lean on, as well. The guy standing near the entrance said hi, but didn't ask if I was looking for something specific. I looked around, lost, so looped back to him and asked where support belts and such would be. He told me they were located upstairs. He then mentioned an elevator, and pointed in the general direction. I knew I couldn't take the escalator, because I needed to lean on the cart at that point. I searched all over for the elevator, and nothing. I finally looped back around to the restroom sign, and eventually realized a small makeshift sign was taped to the wall, noting the elevator was down the corridor. It was very generic and not noticeable from afar. The elevator is way in the back, hidden, old, worn and it reeked inside. The #2 button was taped over, and only #3 or #1 could be pressed. I don't know why there is even a #3, but I chanced it anyway. It took me to level two. lol I finally found the wall where all of the braces were attached to, albeit quite far away from the elevator. The area is quite congested, and not really made for a cart to traverse. I was relieved to find the wall of braces...only to be let down. Out of all the rows and rows of braces, straps, support this and that, not one single item for the pelvis and/or groin. I didn't even see a spot where it's supposed to be, so I suspect they don't even carry them in-store. Additionally, I noticed there were no price labels anywhere, so it was a complete guessing game as to cost. In severe pain, I had to wobble away and get back to the 2nd floor. I took the escalator, and left the cart there. I didn't want to get back into the smelly, clunky, old-sounding elevator again. A young female employee saw me when I got to the bottom, and asked if I found everything I was looking for. I said, "No..." She just chuckled and said, "Oh..." I then replied, "I couldn't find what I was looking for..." She didn't say anything back. No offer to help, find another employee, etc. After going to a 3rd store, I gave up. I just ordered online and I get my brace tomorrow. I was just hoping to have one today, and maybe even try it on, to ensure it fits well, etc. Such a shame that Dick's didn't deliver. A huge store like that should have them as a no-brainer...and on the 2nd floor to boot. You'll have people coming in probably in pain, so why put them on the 2nd floor? lol Makes no sense. The employees need to be more connected and interactive. Lastly, that elevator is horrible. And please make signs which direct you from the point of entry all the way to the elevator! This is basic 101 stuff.
