Fleischmann planetarium has the potential to be more. It has a lot of great information and items to show case however the building is outdated. The show was an additional cost aside from the entry fee. Gift shop and staff were nice

Great destination for kids or the curious adult. A $10 admission fee for seniors and students ($15adult) is well worth it. With your admission you can pick from one of three short video features shown in the 360 degree theater. You will walk away not only entertained but also slightly more knowledgeable of our inter-terrestrial world.

Got to visit the Planetarium while in Reno and watched their Black Hole special. We went at their latest show time and there were only three other parties for a total of 8 people. I guess masks are currently optional as the tour guide didn't wear a mask either. The show is approximately 1.5 hours long, which included a "documentary" of the Black Hole, talks about the current night sky from Reno's POV, the Planetarium and its involvement ins space. Here are some of my thoughts on the experience: - I don't think it suites well for kids because the language they use is actually quite scientific and needs quite a bit of brain energy to follow. - They don't need proof for student discount I believe, so if you forgot your student ID, no worries you can still pay the cheaper price. - The documentary is pretty amazing, it feels like you are sitting on a ride. Also, I think having it in a 360 POV really does make a big difference. - Free NASA Calendars which is big plus. - The biggest reason why I'm giving the Planetarium a 3 stars is because the seats were extremely uncomfortable and my neck had a big knot afterwards. - The staff are actually so nice and kind and willing to share all that they know. Overall, I think its a pretty solid experience and would recommend if coming to Reno, but be mentally prepared that the seats might hurt.

Every time I stopped by Reno, Fleischmann Planetarium is always on of my stops. I'm mean doesn't enjoys learning more about the planets, Comets, Sun, Moons , Stars and so on??! Iol! I guess I'm just a geek like that! ;) I truly enjoy the exhibits and all the models of the planets orbiting and they have videos explaining each planet how they was discovered the list goes on and on. You will definitely, have fun while at the planetarium. The have shows inside that are pretty cool. I normally, like the shows explaining the bodies off water like The Nile I've watch the last time I was here and it was fantastic! This time around the only showing they have is Pink Floyd...sigh! Then weather permitting they have late night shows where you can watch the sky from the Planetarium's telescopes, I have tons of fun doing this. If I'm not mistaken they only do this when schools out? I could be wrong, but when I when school was definitely out for summer. The gift shop is everything I never leave with out buying something and lots of time I go overboard lol. I love the freeze dried Ice Cream, Rock Candy, Lyons mints, Freeze Dried space food, necklaces etc... They also sell board games, Puzzles, Telescopes and so much more. It's something for everyone in this shop! The customer service is okay. The young man that helped seemed to be possible new to the job and instead of using the register to ring me up he used a calculator instead? He didn't really give much eye contact and after making my purchase never said, Thank you, but did say have a good day! Maybe he's new to customer service lol! Overall, I thoroughly enjoy Fleischmann Planetarium and this will always be my to go spot. It's located on The University of Reno campus. You drive in the parking garage to the 3 floor parking , go inside the planetarium and get a free parking permit or you will be towed!

What a great activity we have right here in town. If you are into stars and the universe then this is the spot for you. They have a small variety of show and a changing exhibit. Parking is free. All you need to do is go inside and ask for a parking permit. You take it back to your car and stick it in the window. The parking garage is just after the entrance to KNPB Channel 5. The gift shop has some unique items. My favorite are magnetic rocks. The customer service here is spot on. I think Olivia was the name of the employee who sold us are tickets. She was very nice.

My kids and I recently participated in the JUSTin Hope Foundation Sensory night at the Planetarium. The man that was in charge for the evening and the young lady working the register checking people in were very friendly and understanding. It was so cool to get a chance to experience the planetarium and watch the show in the dome theatre with a "sensory friendly" atmosphere. Thank you so much for reaching out to the special needs community. We'll definitely be back again for the next event. Thank you!!

Entertaining comic strip on bottom floor

Planetarium show costs $15 per person. You can reserve ahead of time online and pay. Unsure if you have to pay to just see the exhibit. It felt more like a lecture than a show tbh. We all fell asleep somewhere during the 20 minute showing. The order of the show was odd too; not in the typical chronological order ie Big Bang to present day. Chairs were not very comfortable and we had to arch our heads at an off angle to see the full display of the pictures. The most interesting part was right before the showing where they logged into a website that allows them to view telescopes and what the telescopes see in real time. You can ask to look for certain things too during this segment ie black holes, distant solar systems, dying stars, etc. Then they go through what you can see in the night sky ie stars that make different constellations with outlines drawn in ie Ryan's belt, Gemini constellation, etc. Exhibit was small. A whole section about the moon, planets, and astronauts and that was pretty much it. They had displays of gadgets from comics/ movies that referred to space in one way or another. They seemed proud of the architectural design of the planetarium that follows the path of the sun and also the shape of their dome that is painted as a sun.

Taking kids to here for the shows since my oldest like it so much.. It is a small place.just wish reno has a bigger one ...

M J.

Tiny tiny planetarium. I was expecting much more and had hyped my kids up so much, they weren't too disappointed because of the activities but I was. The young man in the front was extremely polite and informative.

Ask the Community - Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center

So now the shows COST?

Not individually, but there is an admission charge to go past the gift shop.

Is there a place to grab lunch?

Hi Sabrina, the Planetarium doesn't have food service, but there are several places in the Joe Crowley Student Union nearby. Also, on campus, there are food and drink businesses along Virginia Street and just off Virginia.

Heads up: the gift shop closed before we could grab anything, and the closing announcements were pretty firm--if you weren't already in line, it was a no-go. Totally fair, just something to keep in mind when planning your visit! There are so many exhibits that we definitely had to move quickly, but it was still 100% worth it. Pro tip: save the downstairs water feature for last--it's an absolute blast for the whole family! As a special needs family, we felt really comfortable here. Our 5-year-old loved the freedom to walk and explore, and our 1-year-old had a great time in the littles area and with the water play. The huge cloud play structure looked amazing, but we skipped it since there's only one way in and out--just didn't feel like the right call for us this time. Bonus: let your kids take the stairs to burn off energy! But if you've got a stroller, wheelchair, or just want an easier route, elevators are available too. Overall, such a fun spot--we'll definitely be back (with more time next time)!

The museum is not very large and most of our kiddos love the Truckee river exhibit as they play there more. It could be the age. Just bring some spare clothes or a towel as they may be drenched. As they get older they may like to do the other exhibits more. They have lego, space, anatomy, physics, and engineering zones. They also have a lab with daily activities. The amazing part is there are plenty of things to do. The downside is the parking lot gets packed fast, but thats a good thing. So give yourself time if looking for a spot. Its super cool for the kiddos and there is even a cute little toddler playground. So please enjoy the space and time.

As a walk in on a week day there were a couple groups of students touring and a few other walk ins, but for the most part it seemed like we had the place to ourselves. We spent a couple hours taking in as much as possible, from fully immersing ourselves in Ernesto Neto's Children of the Earth to exploring other works like one of my favorites, Ducks in a Row by Clare Rojas. We then enjoyed the bakery in the lower level, quickly admired the Bristlecone clock in the library before departing. There was a section under development that we were unable to explore and we did almost miss the Ernesto Neto exhibit as the entryway was right next to the blocked off area under development. As we were preparing to exit, my wife saw the small entryway next to a table where someone was stationed to block off the section under development. The person stationed there said nothing. Luckily her curiosity led us the exhibit, but we could've easily missed it.

Most recently we visited Toytopia. This exhibit offers the chance to explore a hands-on history of toys from the past and into the future. It was a blast trying to get the individually articulating fingers to close around the ball in order to lift it into the basket for the big reward. We also enjoyed the oversized battleship game. So fun to play and we spent 20-30 min there. Mr Potato Head was old school fun too. We made a competition out of it to see who could make the wackiest example. I think I won... or maybe my kids let me win. But the favorite had to be the mini arcade they had setup with some of the best old school cabinets. Donkey Kong, DK Jr., Dig Dug and so many more are all here as part of the exhibit and you could spend a long time here without realizing it! Oh and there's even a Zoltar fortune teller too! I am shocked there aren't reviews for Jerry Mitchell Landscaping since he's been an active…read moredesign/landscaping service locally for 30 years. Many people I've talked to know of him or have had their yards done by him. In fact, friends who have used his services on two separate occasions recommended him to me when I wanted to design/re-landscape my backyard. When I first met Jerry, he was energetic and once he saw the backyard, he knew exactly what he incisions for it. He did a paper and colored pencil draw up of his plans and we were sold! His vision seemed amazing and we couldn't wait to enjoy our yard. In August 2018 we paid him 50% down and he said it should take about 4 weeks to complete. Then nothing. We waited for him to tell us when he was going to start and he kept responding that he was finishing up another job so it should be a week or so. That went on for a full month until one day, I was sitting on the couch watching TV and there was Jerry and a team of landscapers in my backyard. I was annoyed he didn't give us a heads up that he was coming over and starting the yard that day, but at the same time, I was happy he was there so I didn't care. His team came and went for 10 months. 10 MONTHS!! They never had a schedule they just showed up and since we have dogs, I asked him to tell us when they would be there so I could lock my dogs in. If they weren't coming, I'd let my dogs have access to the yard. He would say they would be there, I'd lock my dogs in and watch for movement in the backyard on my Ring camera but they only would show up about 50% of the time. His crew left garbage all over. They would leave their lunch and snacks everywhere. Chicken bones, straws, wrappers. After work, I would have to come out and fill half a plastic trash bag of their food waste so my dogs wouldn't eat it. He would invoice us for plants and trees that were never planted and this continued even after he finished the job. It took months after the work was completed for the last invoice to get resolved. He also had a job concurrently at our friend's house and he would tell our friends they got the A team landscaping their yard, which I guess meant we got the B team? I waited years to post this review for a few reasons. I was so mad at Jerry for years that I would have given him a 1 star heated review for his lack of communication, his employees disrespectful trash habits, the length of time it took him to finish my yard, and he is almost invisible on review sites. His designs are amazing! I love my yard! It is beautiful and I use it daily even in the winter. I don't think another landscaper would have had his vision for our little backyard space so I'm so happy he designed our yard but it was a frustrating year working with him.

Jerry's work transformed a yard that was unusable into a retreat for all of our friends and family. All the features in the yard (music, lighting and water feature) can be controlled with Wi-Fi apps from our phones. Jerry worked with plumbers electricians and carpenters to seamlessly put together the best backyard I have ever seen. We doubled our living and entertaining space for a fraction of what it would cost to do a home addition. It was worth twice the price we paid. We love the fact that we did it right the first time. We are in our third summer now and the yard keeps getting better as it matures. Do not give this another thought. Do WHATEVER it takes to hire this man and you will not be dissatisfied with the result. I wish I had pictures to show the yard before, but the final result will do. Thanks Jerry. You are a mensch
