For me it's always a soy flat white. They make an ok one here. When in my own neighbourhood of Brunswick East, I like to get my flat white from Padre so that's some tough competition. My niece is fond of hot chocolates and she always seems pretty pleased with herself when she's drinking one from Clancy's. She has also manipulated me with all her cuteness and sweet talk to buy her many a smiley faced mini meringue, which make her go a little crazy but I can't help but give in. She picks off the smarties that make up the eyes then eats the rest in the most messy way she can. Let this be a warning to people coming in here with kids - there is a very attractive display cabinet full of sweet things that look irresistible to children, do not let them see it. The Clancy's ladies are very accommodating and lovely and will always have a friendly little chat with my niece, which makes me like them even more.

I also love the egg and dukka with fresh spinach leaves on a seeded grain sourdough, which is lovely and wholesome and will leave you satisfied for hours. But besides the excellent menu, clearly it is the large range of bread, pastries and cakes that have made it famous, with people coming from far and wide for their fill. My all time favourites include the Victoria sponge cake and the lemon tarts. In the bread department - must tries include the pane toscano and the honey and oat whole-wheat tin.

I feel that not only are they a bit overpriced, but they need to use common sense when charging for a bag after someone has spent a certain amount. It's a bit off putting, however I'm sure the lure of their bubka (the best I've ever eaten anywhere) will get me back there eventually down the road ...
