First time at Fleet Feet store and was thoroughly impressed with every single detail of their operation in Roanoke. I popped in to purchase a pair of Hoka's that were on hold for me while the n town this weekend. I came into the store not expecting much and was wowed! A huge floor space that does not served overcrowded. However a tremendous inventory of shoes, socks and other merchandise. I also picked up a few pair of Feetures socks, but they have several different brands too. I was disappointed they had few selections in Large. I found it cool that they have a 3D in sole maker. I've never seen one before. Several staff asked me for help as I browsed. I tried my shoes on with personal attention loosening the string and tying them up. I've yet to get this level of service from even my own local store at home. Checkout was smooth and I was enrolled in their rewards program. You can use the points for online purchases too! I thought the overall value of my purchase was very good. My items were quality, not cheap and I'm fine with this. Now as I travel I will look for Fleet Feet. Our first time visiting the store it was packed on a rainy day. We were immediately greeted and offered help. We were just curious so we looked around on our own for a while. After stacking up a pile of fabulously soft and comfortable cloths, we decided it was time for shoes. It took us a while to get a shoe consultant, we should have put our names down when they asked. But, it has been a long time (maybe 1980) since I received any kind of support in a shoe store. They did a computer analysis of the shape of your foot and your stride. Amazing! While they have a decent selection of shoes, but of course everything is overpriced. I do like that you are able to have your foot scanned and you can have a custom fitting. However... After making an appointment on line (you really don't need to do this it won't shorten your wait time). My fiance and I show up with his service dog and we were asked to put her in the car. This is not a "yippy" dog, or hyperactive dog trying to pass as a service dog. She goes with him everywhere. She was wearing her vest. They said it was due to "allergies". I pointed out that it is IN FACT against the law to deny service to someone with a service animal and they let me know it was the owners policy. My fiance left and I decided to wait to talk with the owner. She claimed to have never heard that it was against the law and the ADA says she has to accept service animals. Only if they are causing a problem and there is potential for harm can you ask them to leave. This is NOT where the owner can say I have the right to refuse service to anyone I want... NOT SO. So, if a blind person has a service animal comes in... you would refuse service? YES, it would seem she would. So much for their whole be KIND Roanoke signage.... read more

Came here with a simple goal. Buy warm socks. I didn't know it was primarily a running store, but that's fine I like shopping and vibrant colors. This place has it in spades. Went in, was greeted and then shown the wall of socks. Based on a mild review off needs I expected what I would normally consider ridiculous prices, I wasn't disappointed. Prices were expected, selection was a single brand though which is never good. I was told someone would be right with me and was actually hoping that would happen. I was pretty sure that I didn't want anything but definitely sure I didn't want to leave empty handed. So I stood in the corner looking at socks waiting for "assistance". After 15 minutes of feeling like a dope, I decided this wasn't a store for me. If someone would have given me 2 minutes I would have walked out smiling with my 50 dollar purchase. Probably would return too. I could overhear 3 staffers joking about lunch plans while waiting to greet more customers. The store had the resources. Simply put, gear selection is limited, staff is fake peppy, and if the goal is to buy a specific item they carry online stores are much better. I will not be returning. read more

Like all specialty running stores, you can expect to run a pretty high tab when shopping here. It'd been a while since I was fitted for shoes though, and while I was in town I wanted to give this place a try. Customer service was perfect. Andrew helped me out by measuring my feet, studying my gait, and bringing out several pairs of shoes and inserts for me to try. I also glanced around at their holiday clearance and got some pants for half off--which definitely makes them more affordable! I saw that they have a rack of clothes for "extended sizes," which I liked because not everyone who is setting goals in the New Year is a size Small! This struck me as a very no-judgment sort of place: I mentioned my history and goals and there wasn't any "elitist runner" attitude, just a smile and nod and examples of shoes that would help me. They have a board with classes and offers as well, so if you're a runner or a walker or thinking you could be with the right pair of shoes, this place is worth checking out. read more

I bought a pair of Asics and inserts here a few months ago. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I spent a little more than I would have normally but it was well worth it considering I was always in pain when I would go jogging. Now, I wonder what took me so long to go and get fitted! I was so happy that I went back in today to purchase another pair of inserts for my snowboard boots. And here is why I am giving Fleet Feet 5 stars. Their customer service is incredible! I explained that I loved my Asics and I wanted inserts for my boots but that I wanted something different than the ones I was currently wearing. I explained that my berry Superfeet inserts were a bit thick and hurt the top of my feet so I wanted to try thinner ones for my boots. The gentleman helping me asked if I wanted to exchange the ones I currently had. Really? I can do that? Sure enough, he had me try on a few different pairs until I found a perfect replacement pair for my Asics and a pair for my boots. I will definitely be coming back again!! read more

Bought these 11 months ago for $140, up from the $90 I paid 3 years prior. Wore out in 10 months. Fleet Feet said they only have a 60 day warranty, ECCO warranty is 12 months but they rejected these as not defective, only excessive wear. Really? $140 and 10 months is " normal". LLBeans makes a comparable shoe for 1/2 the price and lifetime warranties. read more

Amazing! Their service is remarkable from the second you walk through the door. They are not paid on commission so their goal is to sell you the best shoe for YOU not the most expensive shoe. I can't say enough good things about this place! I have been to a lot of runner geared stores, especially since I have done some moving around the country. This place is the best I have been to! The gentleman my friend and I worked with was not only knowledgeable about gait and foot structure, he was also well versed in the manufacture of shoes (something I can vouch for as I have done a lot with forensic footwear examination). Usually, I am lucky to leave a store with one pair that I sort of like. He brough out not one, not two, but three pairs I loved that felt good to run in. Due to a few knee injuries from college sports, I have a very difficult time finding shoes that don't cause pain when running. I wanted to leave this store with all three pairs! Prices are indeed higher for some of the specialty gear they had, but that didn't stop me from wanting everything they had in the store. I am more than willing to invest in a few high quality pieces from here for an activity I spend so much time doing. read more

Went there on a whim, after spending two days driving all over Roanoke and Salem (being very disappointed with the other shoe retailers for not carrying high quality products, or even being able to answer the most simple questions about specific shoes, designs or models - more frustrated by seeing one style that I wanted to try on, but never in stock or told 'we can order it for you' - really?! I can order them for myself!) and everyone at this place not only had all of the answers, but their recommendations were spot on for what I was looking for. Went in to potentially buy one pair and left with three different pair for three very different reasons. True professionals with the best quality products in the area.
