I was supposed to write this review on 30 August 2024 but I did not and here we are at the end of September 2024...haha. Anyway, I had a great time visiting Fleet Feet running store, formerly this location was a Front Runner running store but Front Runner merged with Fleet Feet in 2015. All the store associates were super friendly and knowledgable. I was in Cincinnati to watch a tennis tournament for 2 days from August 12-13, 2024 so I knew I would be walking alot on those 2 days. Thus, I wanted new running shoes before my trip that I could use to walk around so I visited FleetFeet with my mom who was also looking for walking shoes. I visited on Saturday, 10 August, right before they closed at 6pm. I got the Hoka Arahi 7 running shoes in the colour white which was given to me as an early birthday gift. The HOKA ARAHI 7 is described as -- "A surprisingly sleek stability shoe. Not your average stability shoe, the new Arahi 7 delivers the same streamlined support as its predecessor with our patented J-Frame™ technology. Updated with a zonally engineered, flat knit upper for improved midfoot lockdown, we've fine-tuned the fit with a plusher tongue, and a stretchy dual gusset beneath the lace line to help mitigate tongue migration." I've owned my new shoe for almost 2 months now and I absolutely love it. It is super comfortable and light although it is a big and chunky shoe but it is not heavy at all when you wear it. Let me preface this review by saying that I am not a runner. I stopped by to look for new sneakers to wear for walking. It was extremely busy on a weekend and you take a number near the entrance to be helped by a staff member (like at the deli counter). Although they had several staff members working, they seemed to be struggling to keep up with all of the customers waiting to be helped. They carry a few models each of several different running shoe brands (Hoka, Brooks, etc) and also have a small selection of Birkenstock and Oofos shoes. The selection is not huge, but the shoes are good quality. They also carry running accessories and Vuori sportswear for both men and women. I would say if you are looking for the latest Nikes, this is not that kind of store. If you are a runner, this is a specialized small business that would be worth a visit. read more

My husband and I have been buying our shoes at Fleet Feet Upper Arlington for more than a decade. I brought my 84-year-old cousin in to buy shoes and socks. My cousin's feet are complicated, and this was the first time his feet had been properly assessed. The manager, Will, did a fabulous job testing my cousin's feet, watching him walk, then explaining (with visual references, on the iPad) why my cousin needed a particular type of shoe. Will spent over an hour with us, and he made the shopping trip fun. We were joking that Will was "half a foot doctor." I was in the market for new running shoes and have always picked out pairs that I "thought" were best and felt comfortable. As I started longer runs training for my first half, shoes I used were not gonna cut it. I went to Fleet Feet years ago where they watched me walk/run. The guy helping me was great, until it was time to check out. We headed for the cash register and some man with a big pile of stuff was standing there and the kid incapable of using the cash register asked if the guy helping me could do the sale. They completely ignored me, stepped right over me and began checking out the other guy. Acted like I wasnt there or that they hadn't just totally dismissed me. Not a word, not a glance, not a recognition that they would get to my sale . Just ignored me. They only had one color of the shoe I wanted, and last year's model. Listen Burt (left foot) & Ernie (right foot) have been on fire! I am flat footed and I have plantar fasciitis. When I walk for 10 mins it feels like my foot has been stretched Somethen serious. My calf AND my hip starts to hurt. I wear crocs because it is easier for me and narrow nikes because thats what I had in my closet. After taking a walk today to get my health on track, I realized that I needed shoes that would make me feel comfy. Pros: The store and associates were amazing. I walked in and was helped in under a min. The scanning technology that they used to record my feet was pretty dope. I also loved that they watched me walk on a treadmill. They provided Burt & Ernie with 3 options and I ended up picking out the Saucony size 11.5 shoe! These jokers are so comfy and I feel like I can walk a mile with Jesus lol!!! Cons: not the best looking shoes for a 33 yr old. BUT, i'd rather have comfort over beauty at this point lol. I RECOMMEND them!! Oh oh oh, to put the cherry on the cake, they value diversity and aren't ashamed to let you know. I don't know where to even start! I LOVE Front Runner. I wish I could give this review more than 5 stars. Everything about this experience from start to finish was excellent. Absolutely perfect. Seriously, other businesses need to take notes because this is the type of quality service customers desire. I went to Front Runner looking for the perfect running shoe. I arrived around 3pm on a Wednesday and was helped within 5 minutes of arriving without having to ask. Chance was so kind, patient and extremely thorough with my evaluation. He was knowledgeable, asked the right questions and then directed me to the Fleet Feet technology to gather my specific measurements. This technology scans your feet and then provides information on size, width, arch and much more regarding both feet. After your scan, you run on the treadmill and watch the recording back to identify potential areas of concern. You also get an emailed copy of your results. Super cool! After reviewing all of the data, Chance gathered 6 pairs of shoes to try out. I was able to run on the treadmill with each shoe to see how they felt. After each run I told Chance how the shoe felt and he knew exactly which shoe to try next to fix the issue I had. Again, his patience was incredible! Not once did I feel like I was being rushed or that I was annoying him with my pickiness. 12 pairs of shoes later we finally got the perfect match. I am so pleased with my experience at Front Runner. I had a great experience with this store back in 2007 and am even more pleased today. I was experiencing significant back pain at work and my husband suggested getting new, high quality shoes. I was skeptical as I walked into Front Runner. Could new shoes really make a difference? When I arrived, the staff were immediately helpful and friendly. They did a scan of my feet and discovered that I had wide feet with high arches. The staff member made suggestions for the shoes I should select and helped me order them online. The shoes were delivered to my house in two days and they fit perfectly! Three weeks have passed since I've received my new shoes. They make such a difference! I would say that 70% of my back issues were related to my feet! If I could, I would go back and time and reassure me skeptical self that the trip to Front Runner would be a great and life-changing experience. Just had the worst experience.. I went in looking for a replacement shoe for the New Balance model that I've worn for years. I have a difficult foot to fit.. a womens extremely wide. I appreciate that my options may be limited. The salesperson brought out 2 for me to try... and basically said, there might be others that come in your width - but I don't know and we don't carry them. Not only was she not helpful with anything in the store, she had no recommendations as to what I could do. I ended up coming home and ordering something on line to try. He watched me walk, examined the bottom of the shoes I was wearing to see the way they've worn, and let me try on three different sizes each in four different brands of shoes before settling on some classic Nike Pegasus 27s. Apparently I've been wearing the wrong size shoes all these years. Who knew? (My ponytailed friend did!). Front Runner is the only place I go to get running / tennis shoes. I do not pick my running shoes on color. I go and get the advice of the shoe specialists as to which running shoe will give me the stability that my feet need. They have never picked wrong for me. What they do is evaluate your gait / run and then they advise you on a couple of pairs that would work well for what you need. You then try on one shoe on one foot and another shoe on the other foot. You can either walk around the inside of the store, or you can run outside with the shoes on and see which shoe feels best to you. They have always sent me home with the winning pair. I can not imagine buying a pair of running shoes just off the rack with no advice or knowledge of the set up of the shoe. The employees at Front Runner truly are the best. I've been to all the running stores in town. This one is slightly off the beaten path so you have to hunt for it off Worthingon/Galena Road, though you can plainly see it from I270 on the north end. They have a large selection of stuff backed by their online warehouse so availability is good. Prices are competitive with most everyone else. PRO: Their once worn program is great. Every spring I get a brand new pair of American Made New Balance running shoes, but when they wear out in fall, I don't usually like to get a new pair for use in the winter so I will go to their store and check out whats available in the once worn. If you buy a pair of shoes and return them in the first 30 days you get your money back and they go into the once worn program. I've gotten some great shoes for $50 and worn them in the winter months, or they become my lawn mowing shoes in the summer. I think its a great value and you get to try some different shoes. CON: They have an MVP club. Why frequent buyers should have to pay to get a discount is beyond me, but I suppose it could be worthwhile. I became a member once. Had I bought an expensive Garmin or something it might have been worthwhile for that alone, but while I could get a discount in the store, I was suppose to get one online too, but they couldn't verify it, so I gave up. There are enough running stores in town that I can get a discount from, I'm not going to pay to get one. read more

And I wound up very pleased. Kati was very helpful in determining metrics and sizes and recommended three solid options. After trying them on the one that felt the best wound up being on sale, and the price was about $40 or $50 less than the going rate on Amazon! I'm not a runner. Not by a longshot. I just have high arches, flat feet, and my ankles cave inward so bad I cannot walk, jog, run, or even turn around without twisting or spraining them. So why the heck did I visit this place today? For the reasons above. My dad was referred here by his podiatrist while his custom orthotics are being made, and he said he was so impressed that he literally told the staff he'd swing round to pick me and my brother up and bring us in to get fitted for insoles and shoes. I haven't had my feet measured in years. YEARS. I have never had someone analyze the way I walk and stand. The gentleman who assisted me was Mark, who was very down-to-business yet personable. I learned that while I can comfortably wear a size 8 in women's, my right foot fits a size 7.5 and my left foot fits a size 7, and that my left foot is narrow while my right foot is regular width. Huh. Never knew that. Mark had me walk with my trainers on, then off, to see how much I was correcting and compensating (trust me, it was a LOT). He went to the back to grab a pair of shoes to test as our baseline/control. They were comfy and as I walked around in them, I could literally feel my feet and ankles behaving (if they can behave) more normally. I wasn't correcting. The shoes we tested first were a bit small, so Mark took them back and brought out a bunch of boxes, all size 8s, and had me try all of them, first with a size 8 of the shoe I'd just tried on my right foot, and a shoe from a different brand on the left. I fell in love with the New Balance shoe and wound up getting it and its mate. Gel cushioning in the heel and toe, near-perfect arch support, and loads of support on the inside of the heel to prevent my ankles from caving. I was very, very impressed by the staff and the way Mark took care of my needs as a customer. I definitely plan on coming back at some point! read more

If you have any issues with sneakers and need a good pair of athletic shoes, I highly suggest Front Runner even if you're not a runner. Bryant M. took me for my inaugural visit because I needed some walking sneakers. My last pair did not fit me super well and I have issues with stuff like shin splints and heel pain, so I wanted a pair to take to Chicago that would be comfortable enough to do all the walking. We went on a Saturday, so there was a wait--this is not a place where you pick out shoes and flag down a harried worker to rummage for your size. How it works: You take a number. When your number comes up, you work with a Front Runner employee to help you pick out the best pair of shoes for you. They watch you walk to see if you pronate or do anything else unusual while walking. They measure your foot. Then they help you pick out shoes based on how you walk and what you need them for. It's been a LONG time since I had my foot measured, and it turns out I have been wearing the WRONG SIZE SHOE for years. I still mostly have to wear the wrong size because I have a wide foot, but having the correct size shoe for my walking shoes is magical. I barely even feel like I'm wearing shoes when I put on the ones that I bought. Service was great, too. The person helping us was friendly and had no problem tag-teaming us efficiently (that sounds kinda dirty but it was just shoes, I swear). The shoes aren't cheap. My pair was something like $125 (though there was a sale so I got them a bit less expensively). While I could have gone on Amazon and gambled on a pair for less money, it was worth the extra to me to get a pair that really suited my needs. Great job, Front Runner. read more

I just got back from Front Runner after buying new shoes. Here I am, a patron of Front Runner going on 3 years now and I can't believe I haven't written a review yet. For shame. These guys are the bees knees. Honestly. Don't pull an "Amazon" here and try on the shoes and then order them off the internet. Thanks to the other reviews, I knew what to expect when I went in to Front Runner to get fitted for some good running shoes. I've been running about a year, so I am still an absolute newbie, and I was a bit anxious that I wouldn't know what to say, or would be lost when the salespeople were talking to me. I was met by a freindly staff member, John, when I arrived. I told him I needed some good running shoes, and he asked me a bit about my running habits. I told him briefly, and then he watched me walk to "analyze my gait" I presume, as has been discussed in reviews and on their site. He said he's be back in a few minutes, and returned with five pairs of shoes for me to try on. I loved the first pair, so he left one of those on, and then did a side-by-side comparison of each of the other pairs. (Can I just say that it is a relaxing time to have someone unlacing and puting your shoes on for you, then tying them back up, and doing it all over again? I loved it!) I ended up going with the first pair I tried on, and I am very happy with them. Worth the price to feel good when I run. The whole experience only took about 15-20 minutes. I've been coming here off and on for years for all of my (minimal) running needs. I'm a severe over-pronator, so I always need a shoe with the most shored-up arch. Trust the people here-- the one-on-one attention is amazing. For example, Barry helped educate me a little bit on how running shoes are designed to fit, and why certain parts of the foot need to be placed in certain parts of the shoe. Seems like a no-brainer, but I've been wearing my shoes too small. An extra bonus (and extra star) for being able to pick up my race packet (not just for me, but for my running-mates, too) for Saturday's Jingle Bell Run. I wasn't expecting to be able to kill two birds with the proverbial stone, but it saved me loads of time. Apparently, you can usually pick up your race packet for most of the charity runs here. My only (very minor) gripe is the whole "go run around outside" thing. I think it's definitely good to run in your shoe a little bit, but when I lived in Boulder they had a running shop there with treadmills that would video-record different strides and analyze the changes with the various shoes. I don't like having to go out in that awkward parking lot on Lane Avenue and run around on my own. Some treadmills where the clerks could see the stride and adjust shoes/sizes would be a nice addition to the already-amazing service. On a similar note, if you run "a mile or so" in your new kicks and they just don't feel right, Front Runner will take them in for an exchange. read more

The customer interaction, the care, the attention, this place puts your comfort and lifestyle first, NOT just marking down another sale. I went in on a Saturday afternoon and there were a lot of people there, but they have a ton of staff there ready to help. I had to take a number (which was actually a racing bib number =)), but I literally waited less than 5 seconds before being helped. I was helped by Sue Grote, who was really friendly and answered my questions around buying new shoes. She advised I had at least another 50 or so miles before I needed to think about replacing them, but told me I could bring them in in a few weeks and we'd compare them to the new version of it. She also helped me pick a water bottle belt. She let me run around the building with it on to get a feel for it. While outside I also so a couple people running around the building to test out shoes they were looking at. Mostly I was impressed with her patience and helpfulness - I asked A LOT of questions. I'm a total running newbie, but I learned in my first few weeks of doing a Couch to 5k program that new shoes were going to be necessary. So, I decided to do it the right way and get properly fitted. Wow. What a difference. The experience is interesting. I walked in, was approached by a very nice employee who listened to what I was looking for. He watched me walk back and forth a few times, then ran to the back and returned with 4 pairs of shoes. I tried each on, and they just seemed...off. He determined that my foot was wider near the arch, so he got 5 more pairs in wide sizes. I spent a lot of time trying them on and testing them out against one another. I figured out the pair that worked the best for me, and he took me to cash out. Now, this was totally weird to me because: 1-I never looked at the shoes on the wall. I had no input on color/design/etc, but it was absolutely ok. Having happy feet is the number one goal, and your feet don't care about color. 2-I had no idea how much they were until I was rang up. Again, I had budgeted an amount that I figured would cover any pair (did a little research before I went in), and surprisingly, I came in $30 under budget! So throw out your perceptions of running shoe shopping, and trust these guys. My feet have been happy, uninjured, and have carried me 9 weeks into training. They're going to take me to my first half marathon, and I think Front Runner absolutely deserves some of the credit. I've also picked up some other running accessories here: heart rate monitor, hydration belt, etc. I think they have fair prices, exceptional service, and knowledge to get you on your way to being a successful runner! read more

After running in my cheap shoes from Target for the last 6 months, I figured it was time to graduate to some better shoes. So I took a field trip to Front Runner! They were hopping busy when I was there, but the service was still fantastic. A sales associate came right over and helped me almost immediately and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. He spent alot of time with me and I didn't expect buying running shoes to be so involved, but I guess you gotta do alot of work to find the perfect shoe! First he checked out my current Target shoes. Then he had me walk barefoot across the store to check out my arches (mine are perfect by the way!). Then we talked about what kind of running I do and the sizes I should wear. He then brought out different pairs of shoes and put a different one on each of my feet. He also showed me how to properly lace a running shoe, I had no idea I was doing it wrong! Then he had me run around the building outside so I could really feel the shoes. We did this a couple times to narrow down the perfect shoe. After everything I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the perfect shoe I had selected also came in bright pink! So it was a match made in heaven!! So the moral of this story is to go to Front Runner if you need shoes. The staff is awesome and they have a great selection. Cons: After returning a pair of shoes that gave me shin splits, I found a pair that fit perfectly! They didn't have them in my size so I ordered (and paid) for them. I went back to the store a week later to find out that THEY SOLD THE SHOES I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR TO SOMEONE ELSE. They didn't call me, mark anything down, or even offer to order another pair. They didn't even apologize! I asked them to order the same pair and have them shipped to my apartment. I also happen to be moving and told the sales associate that it had to be there by the following Friday otherwise I didn't want to shoe. He assured me that they would be there on time. That Friday came and went and, you guessed it, no shoes arrived. I went by the store and told them to cancel the order. The sales associate didn't even know how to find the order, gave me attitude about it, AND THE SHOES HADN'T EVEN SHIPPED YET (AGAIN, THIS WAS AFTER SHOES SHOULD HAVE ARRIVED). I cancelled the order and will definitely never shop at the store again. Save yourself from unnecessary headaches and never shop here! read more

The customer service at Front Runner is top-notch! The sales rep watched my gate and measured my arch to find the best fit. They helped me find shoes that feel like clouds on my feet. My old shoes were so old that I was killing my calves. My performance has actually improved! They also donated my old shoes to people in need. That warms my little heart :) I took of a star because aesthetically-speaking, I didn't see as many good looking shoes. I would suggest a larger selection of cool-looking shoes without sacrificing quality. It would also be nice to have some for those that frequent Crossfit. I am one of those people that wants function as well as fashion. I want some tight kicks! Also, I think it would be nice to have a larger selection of workout clothing and some that isn't as pricey. Yesterday my fiancé and I both bought new shoes and had THE best experience with Aaron. Aaron took his time and really listened to our concerns/needs. Whenever I'm in the area of this store, I always make a point to stop in, but I've never bought anything there. I've never had the level of customer service that I keep hearing others talk about. In fact, the last time that I went in, I couldn't even find anybody! The store was completely empty! I went in another time and was asking about running shoes that would accommodate my ankle brace as well as my pronation issues, and the sales person just shrugged their shoulders and suggested that I go to another store. The quality of their selection is good and I always see things that I want here, I just don't feel welcome stopping in. read more

What can I say that hasn't already! I think my favorite part is the sales section I always find something sweet. The customer service is off the charts. I met my lady there one day after work, she got there about 10 minutes or so before me. She was been helped, I walked in and sat next to her. The lady helping her chatted with me asked me if I was looking for some kicks. I was. She then goes on to tell me that she isn't going to help me until my girl was done and found a pair of shoes that worked best for her. I laughed at this and 6 minutes later my turn.
