This is a gigantic all-purpose store that has nearly everything--gardening, home-related products, food, clothing, fishing, hunting, water sports, birding, and keys. Clean, well-laid out, and kind staff. Our quest to have keys made found our way to staffer Bruce, who was both helpful and knowledgeable. Competitive pricing and lots of sales. The large parking lot makes it easy to visit, and they were community-oriented, with a manned local youth group donation shed located outside the exit. This is a great store.There's such a wide variety of what they sell from food to hunting/shooting supplies to auto parts and everything in between! I have always gotten great customer service there and usually find some interesting things. I've had some great customer service in the shooting and gun supply area. I had someone spend almost 40 minutes with me just talkin about what type of pistol I should use. you can contrast that with a massive garden area and garden supplies in the summer all at reasonable prices. They also have lots of clothing at reasonable prices from leisure where to outdoor gear. A person could spend hours just walking around in here looking at everything they have to offer. They also have their own gas station and car wash out from that seems to have gas that's usually 10 to 12 cents cheaper than anywhere else. read more

I called to inform them and they told me there was nothing they can do because it's on how the distribution stores it..... seems like a them problem considering they are the buyers selling to customers. This is an atypical fleet farm experience, but it put me in a really foul mood, because it is SUCH an example of laziness and really poor customer service and customer relations, two things I've come to expect from fleet farm on a much higher scale. Here is my story: I wanted an additional heavy canvas dropcloth to use as a backup bedcover for our bed. We have greyhounds, and since a couple sleep in bed with us, and as they age, they have accidents, it's nice to have a water resistance and claw resistant bedcover to protect sheets, blankets, and mattresses. Fleet Farm sells two styles, an unlined one, and a plastic lined one (both an enormous 9'x12'). Of course, they had several unlined ones, while the lined ones - on sale, to my surprise and sorrow - were out of stock. Right then and there, I went to their website and ordered a plastic lined dropcloth. Groovy. By the time I arrived home, I had an email telling me it had arrived, and I had until November 30th to pick it up. Really? Already there. Ok, whatever. Today, I drove up bright and early, got it, also shopped for air compressors and air tools, and came home as the snow began to fall. Got inside, opened my canvas, and I'll be danger: it's the wrong one. Here's where it goes south... I immediately called customer service, and the young woman in customer service listened as I told her my dilemma, and how I REALLY didn't want to drive back up to the store and drop off THEIR mistake especially they could CORRECT their mistake and correctly fulfill my order (which WAS correctly placed by me), only to require me to either make yet ANOTHER trip to their store OR pay extra money to have my original order shipped directly to my home address. Here's the deal: this big box stores want it both ways: they want you to visit their brick and mortars AND they want you to utilize their web presences instead of the evil empire AMAZON, but check this out: Amazon not only has free delivery, they also have free pickups for returns AND (relevant here) they process mistakes even before they receive the mistaken item. Still coming here on a regular basis since they opened. They have become my hunters jerky mix place to buy. I like the Fleet brands they carry. They have a car/oil change area on the far south end of the building. They have tires and tools and things you can rent for your latest and greatest projects. This place is huge so have some time to do your shopping. As you work your way through the store there is clothes, food, furniture, and appliances. Fishing poles, hunting gear and much more. I get a kick out of the bulk nuts that are always on sale today was a steal on dried nuts. You can get your hunting license, fishing license and I also saw they have conceal and carry courses as well. With every purchase you get a $.04 off the gallon at their gas station in their parking lot. Never mind that you have to go inside the gas station to pay to get the discount. You almost don't need it as their gas is always cheaper than surrounding prices. Some days its a fight to get to the pump and other times you can slip right in. What a hugely awesome store. This is literally the largest farm store that I have ever been into. It's brand-new and sparkling clean. Just pulling up to it on the outside you get a feel for how large the inside will be. It would literally take all day to go through and see all the things that they had. I was after petfood and easily found it from the signs hanging from the ceiling. Just you're my little visit last night I only covered a small fraction of what the place had. They had clothing home supplies pet supplies hunting gear lumbar tools farm equipment lawnmowers and more and more and more. I wish I would have more time to scope everything out. It was not very busy at all. They only had one of their many registers going. The cashier was none too excited to be at work that evening. She didn't smile and make eye contact or greet me. I was surprised at the registers didn't have pin pads and the cashiers had to run your credit card for you. When I checked out I was given a coupon for four cents off each gallon of gas. They have their own gas station out front of the store. The gas station was amazingly clean and spacious. They offered a lot of the similar things that a quixtar would have minus all the hot food. They even have a car wash. Pretty much everything that you would need and a one stop shop except for maybe some groceries. read more

Mills Fleet Farms is primarily located in the Wisconsin and Minnesota area, but they opened one up a few weeks ago in Ankeny which is super close to the Des Moines metro area. The store was huge and reminded me a little of Home Depot with the orange signs and lights at the cashier station. The rest of the store reminded me a lot of Bass Pro shops. They had a lot of stuff here from outdoor gear, outdoor clothes, guns, ammo, fishing, lawn and garden stuff, auto items, farm and pet supplies and even food!! I was really impressed. Ok this is a updated rating. Came to look for a pistol that was in their ad..not to be seen anywhere in the case. Easy enough. I will just ask a associate in the sporting goods / gun department. But crazy enough nobody is working??? But there is a sign printed up stating "due to an issue no guns can be show or sold". What the duck..so I decide to check out Dewalt heated coats. Can't find them in clothing or over by the Dewalt tools..nobody to ask again. Strike 2. I was also in the market for a snow blower and guess what. Great selection, clean, but security needs improvement. Mills Fleet Farm has a very interesting variety of items for purchase. What particularly impressed me was the scale of quality. They have some inexpensive items but also give the option of purchasing higher priced, higher quality brands. I purchased work pants and Dickies were side by side with Carhardt. What really impressed me was that the pants were separated into cubbies by size, instead of stacking all sizes on top of each other. The second highlight is that Mills also carried less common types of work clothing normally only available online. The store was neat, clean, and well lit. Employees were friendly and visible because of their orange work shirts. The one downside of my visit to Mills Fleet Farm was being followed around the store by undercover security. Mills should make better use of cameras and mirrors instead of having employees follow customers throughout the store; this discourages customers from browsing, and discourages continued patronage. Walmart and Target have the best product retention in all of retail. This being said, I have never felt uncomfortable while shopping at Target or Walmart, nor have I felt like I was being watched or followed. Mills Fleet Farm should take a page out of Walmart's book; ask for a receipt as customers walk out the door; and if you observe someone stealing something, record it and arrest them in the parking lot. read more

Today at Brainerd Fleet Farm, I was in line behind three men checking out. The older female Customer Service Associate (Carol) that checked out the men asked them all if they were veterans. I assumed she was asking because of the proximity to Veterans Day and some offer she had for veterans. None of the men answered that they were veterans. When I approached her, she didn't ask me if I was a veteran. I am a woman. I have to assume she didn't ask me because I'm a woman. 10-12% of the American Armed Forces is women. Please educate all your staff that it is a sexist micro-aggression to specifically exclude offers to one gender of the other. read more

Holy buckets does this store have just about everything except for cold and frozen foods. It is easy to get lost in the racks upon racks of clothing, work, outerwear, and hunting apparel! They have toys, farm equipment, livestock care items, pet supplies, tools, camping, hunting, sporting equipment, and a huge candy section to boot, just to name a few of the many selections. Can't find something? Ask the staff, they are super helpful. The store is clean and well maintained. There is ample parking in the lot adjacent to the store. Need lumber? They absolutely have that, too! This place is so big, you almost need a map (especially when they move things around!!!). read more

I like stopping in for those old school candies they have and at really reasonable prices. Sporting goods are a huge attraction here. I am staining my deck and fence. I purchased TWP Cedartone at the store in Ankeny. I need more. When I went to purchase more they were out. No worries (or so I thought) I would just come back when they were expected to have more in stock. When I inquired, I was informed that they aren't suppose to tell me when they might have more in - I've been told that by several employees - and when I asked if I could order some I was told they don't do special orders. This doesn't seem like a special order though as this is something they carry, and I'd be happy to pay in advance if they are concerned they wouldn't sell it - although I've been told it's their number one 'stain seller'. Now I have a fence that is 1/3 stained and have no clue when I might be able to finish. To add insult to injury, I apparently have to just call every day to inquire since no one can or will tell me when they are expecting more to come in. SIGH... Not to mention it takes FOREVER for someone to answer the phone. I'm not a happy customer. read more

Had tires put on two vehicles. Spent almost $2000 at the tire & auto department at Mills Fleet Farm. Noticed when we got the vehicles back that the tire pressure monitoring caps were gone. They were replaced with cheap plastic caps. Called and spoke with them twice and went in to ask about it once. No resolution. Finally replaced the TPMS caps at the dealership for a cost of $320. Not happy with the lack of care or out right theft displayed by Mills Fleet Farm. read more

This is the only Mills Fleet Farm I have ever been to or heard of in my life. They have some descent products that vary from hunting, fishing, camping, pet, and other supplies. They have a large variety of trail mix for your snacking needs. The store is huge! It is basically the size of a Costco and has a similar layout. The staff is friendly here and helpful. They also have a gas station out front and if you spend a certain amount in the store, you get 5 cents off per gallon at the pump. A good, fun place to shop! read more

Fleet Farm ran an ad having a sale on all of their kayaks. The sale starts this coming weekend, but as far as I knew they had been out of kayaks for a while now. I called up and asked if they were going to have kayaks in time for the sale or if I could pay the price they have listed and pick it up whenever it comes in. They told me to call customer service who didn't answer for about half an hour yesterday. I called again today and talked to someone who told me they were out of kayaks because of the sale (which starts in two days) and told me to call the store and see if they would do a rain check. I called back at the store and after a very rude conversation, was essentially informed they aren't going to do anything about it. read more

I used to really love this place. However, today I went to pick up my husband's online order, and I was just supposed to be able to drive up and pick it up. I was driving my van, even though we own a truck, because everything should have fit in there just fine. However, when I got there, after waiting for 15 minutes, they came out with an already assembled griddle that was in no way going to fit in the back of my van. They sold me an in the box model, but they told me they had preassembled all of them. I'm pretty sure they were lying and gave me the floor model, but not knowing what to do, I went ahead and took it. I have health issues and do not want to be exposed to Covid-19. That is why we did the online order. That all went out the window when I had to get out and completely rearrange my van and fold down seats, etc. They were mildly apologetic, at best. If they had told me that they only had a preassembled model, I could have taken the truck that we own, not my van. I will not be doing online ordering from them again, and it will be awhile before I give them any of my business. read more

I noticed this as I followed my husband around while he looked at tools and auto stuff and man clothing. The store is enormous. Think farm store mixed with a big box home improvement retailer and more than a sprinkling of sporting goods and shelf stable food items. They even had beer, which cracked me up. I dunno. Warning: They lost our car! I went to get it after new tires were added, after we got a call that it was ready, and was told by two auto department workers that they'd never had the car or worked on it... that I was mistaken ... and to go check at Sam's Club next door! (Even though I said I was with my partner when the car was dropped off!) Then Customer Service staff tried to send me back to the Auto Shop! ... What recourse would we have had if my daughter hadn't spotted the car out front in their huge parking lot?! By then we'd missed eating with my 93 year old mom while my daughter was in Iowa again and her baby was crying in his carseat, which I'd tried to avoid by calling to say when we'd arrive, and I couldn't get through the phone "holds" ...) ... And it gets worse: The manager on duty wouldn't talk to me as per CS staff when I asked them about at least being given a gift certificate for our troubles... and no apologies were given despite three staff members being at the Customer Service area. ... No satisfaction when I called Farm n Fleet the next day to share my concerns with a different manager, "Ron." He initially said his colleagues were trained to give good service... (really?!!) When I persisted with concerns about the lost car, the denials, the needs for much better training (I'm a retired teacher) ... and I again asked for a gift certificate to be mailed to me, at the least, he finally said I'd have "to come back early the next day" as he couldn't mail it. ... I said that didn't work as we were up each night a lot lately with a newborn baby visiting for family reunions. He said he'd leave it at the desk in my name ... but he either didn't or he removed it after two days (though I'd asked for a week due to family events, etc.) ... Note, I'd had to ask for a "Customer Survey" form the prior day .. when the CS people said something like, "Well, he's new" about the 60-is auto service man at the desk who first talked with me, and, as noted, was not helpful, when I arrived. ... If you have options, I'd avoid going to this huge corporation where customer support seems to be the last thing on any staff member's mind. read more

Terrible customer service on two accounts. First, we ordered and prepaid for metal tubular livestock gates in December. They still haven't arrived and last night we were given the excuse that they were placed as "special order", but should have been "general order". Apparently, these are 2 separate ordering systems that don't talk to each other. So, after being told that we had no order in the system, when we insisted, the customer service clerk finally looked in the other system and found our order. Then she complained that whoever placed the order did it wrong. (Not my problem.) We're still waiting for the gates that we paid for 3 months ago. On a separate purchase last night, when I checked out using a $3.89 2-for-1 coupon, the clerk applied the coupon after calculating sales tax. The receipt reflects the coupon deduct after the sales taxed total, then charged my debit card for the pre-coupon, non-reduced sales total. How can this happen?? When I called the store today, they told me I can only receive credit in person, debit card in hand, and that that no one at the store can even see my transaction before I come back. So, apparently, their bookkeepers are offsite or they just blindly do their bookkeeping without being able to see the source of their transactions. ? I find this very difficult to comprehend. Since, I live 20 miles away, I will spend as much in gas, plus my wasted time, to recover their $3.89 error, and only have 14 days to do it. Not happy! read more

Great prices on tires!!! Terrible service afterwards. Make sure you schedule a appointment before you get a flat tire or have a road hazard claim They will not take care of anything if you do not have an appointment. Walk ins are treated like tresspassers. Wish I knew when to schedule the nail to puncture my tire so I could schedule the appointment ahead of time. I even purchased the road hazard warranty. This is just a monster of a farm store, I originally went because they stocked a variety of chainsaws that I like, and while I was there, looked around at the wild assortment of other stuff. Theisen's is usually good enough if you have one locally, better than the basic farm store, but Mills Fleet Farm takes that to a whole other level. Now the downside, as with any megastore, if you have any mobility impairment, this place will probably do you in, so plan accordingly. read more

Do not get your tires done here! The did not put my spare tire back on and left the cord dangling in the back of my car that is supposed to hold my spare. My appointment was at 1pm and I didn't leave until after 3 so I was late picking up my preschooler and could not stay there to make them fix it. They did not compensate me for the job they didn't do. The guy said this happens all the time when he's doing the work and it's not his fault...it's just because the car is old and rusty. They took so long I came back twice to check on the car and the second time the guy was shopping the aisle and when he saw me said he was just about to page me. He said he just needed to let them know I was here and then they could check me out. Instead of going to do what he said he went back to the area he was shopping in so i asked if they could hurry because now I was running late to pick up my preschooler. At check out the young guy in back said he had asked the aisle shopper guy to page me 20 min earlier to talk to me about it but said he must have gotten distracted. If he would have done that I would have been on time! Then they suggested I buy a whole new system to hold the spare tire up. I just got the spare out a couple weeks ago and put it on my car because I got a huge pin stuck in my tire which was one of the reasons I decided to get new tires in the first place. Auto Center: I bought tires here about a year ago. I have called 3 different times to set up an appointment for a tire rotation. Been told twice they are too busy to talk to me. They took my name and number and said they would call me back. Well, I've now called a 3rd time and have been on hold for nearly 17 mins. All I'm trying to do schedule the appointment.... Don't like the fact I bought my new tires from this corporation and when I got an unexpected leak in my valve stem which is 100% under warranty they told me to make an appointment because they had know one available to fix it. Therefore all my Christmas purchases and another tire purchase went to companies that have trained employees on site and no appointment necessary.
