I love Flavor's food. Simple and delicious. Soup and sandwiches are some of my favorite things in the world, and Flavor's are the best in town. The menu is pricey, so fair warning if all you want is cheap eats. They do have a lunch special every day - half-sandwich, with soup and mixed greens - for $10, which is easier on the wallet. They have a great all-day breakfast menu too! We are lucky to have Flavor and all of its yumminess in Sydney. read more

I enjoyed the chicken and feta wrap with Tzatzkiki and the chowder. The chowder was in the top two of chowders I've had in Cape Breton. The wrap was great too. Service fell a little short, the waitress seemed very preoccupied with other things and it took a while for her to finally come to take our order, and to take our finished plates at the end of our meal. I was a little annoyed that when we arrived all the tables were full and there was no area to wait inside for a seat so we had to wait outside in the cold until we saw a table get up and leave. Overall the food was great, service was okay. I would recommend it for take out for those reasons. read more

We order their food on a daily basis! The only time they (may) not hear from us is Sunday! The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and the service is quick but does not hinder the exquisite taste of their delicious and fresh dishes!! Highly recommended!! read more

I ate here in July 2011 and was so impressed that I came back three more times before the end of August, driving two hours each way from my cottage to dine here. Great restaurant with a very diverse menu. Lots of vegan, vegetarian and healthy options that are still delicious. The roasted cherry tomato & fresh basil toasted crostini is out-of-this-world amazing. I took my kids and niece and they also loved it (so great for kids). I live in Halifax and would love for the owners of Flavor to open a restaurant in Halifax -- please!!! One of the best restaurants I have eaten in in Canada. read more

We found Flavor by doing a quick google search from our hotel room. We were looking for lighter fare after a long day in the sun. The dining is cosy but bright and Lauren, the server, was friendly and warm. The menu had focus and variety. Something for everyone. We started with the crab cakes which were a great appetizer. Only three, which was just the right amount. I am in love with the mango salsa. My mother ordered off the Summer Sandwich Wars menu, an incredible idea, and I ordered the winner from 2013: Poppin Patty. Incredible. There were so many flavours but they came together so well. As soon as I walked in I felt like the wait staff where not the interested in their job. It wasn't a busy day but they kept on going outside which to me is a sign of disrespect to the people eating. It only took 5 minutes for one of them to come over with menus and water which I liked. Another 5 minutes passed and she asked for our orders. I ordered the vegetarian eggs Benedict. It took about 15 minutes for her to come back with my food. I was never given a menu with drinks or asked if I wanted anything else to drink, I was good with water but still it would of been nice to be asked what I wanted to drink. The food was okay, nothing special. It wasn't hot but wasn't warm, it was around room temperature I would of liked it be a bit warmer. It didn't have much flavour and over all was kind of bland. The only thing that is saving this restaurant for me is the brownie I bought at the front desk/check out area. I wasn't asked if I wanted desert or not which once again I wish I was. The brownie was perfect. Not too sweet. It was rich and dense just how I like to make them at home. I also didn't like the fact that the phone went of every two minutes or so, yes it shows they are popular but it got annoying. I understand they need a phone but it would be nice if it was kept in a office and you couldn't hear it was much. I was told be a couple of family members to try this place out before I went back home and I am going to honest when I say I wish I went to Simons and got mozzarella sticks instead. My wife and I have not been in Sydney for quite a long time so we asked some friends for a good place to have dinner and they said Flavor was a great place so we decided to try it out. It is very small but comfortable. We both ordered Panko Crusted Haddock and my wife hasn't stopped raving about the rissoto yet. The fish seemed a bit tired late on a Saturday evening but was still enjoyable. I didn't care for my carrots as they were sprinkled with nutmeg which over powered the taste of the fresh vegetable. The dessert of homemade coconut cookie and vanilla bean cookies + chocolate drizzle was fantastic. It was huge so we shared. Perhaps the most interesting features were listening to the other guests all giving such positive feedback and hearing the staff happily chatting at the end of an obviously long and tiring day. A friendly place to go for sure. A suggestion to the chefs though .... don't mess with the fresh taste of your food simply to add 'flavor' ie. adding nutmeg to carrots read more

We went to the location on the water (Flavor on the Water) and ordered the seafood platter (lobster, scallops, oysters, mussels, haddock, and another white fish) for $50 to share. The food was very good and cooked well, seasoned nicely, and fresh. Service was adequate (not the quickest). The view was great (right on the water). Beer selection was average at best but that did seem typical of our other restaurant experiences in Nova Scotia. Although you can probably find better deals elsewhere, the food was good, we left stuffed, and we will go again if ever in Sydney. read more
