The place is working on itself, however, the food is really good chef going their thing, highly recommend going any day of the week. Because every day is a great day with specials and all day happy hour. Their curry goat and oxtails are top flavors, and their Mac and cheese is a great option or even their rasta pasta you cannot miss with either!! I love their space is perfect for all party sizes. And their drinks are A1. Check out our amazing video on Instagram and follow @jadaexploresall!

The food is delicious. The service was great. The ambiance is very nice. I definitely would go again. The mussels with the coconut sauce is delicious. The Rum Punch is a must!

I selected the BX, I had a nice little buzz going. It was worth the $12.

The place was not hard to find, nice little cozy spot with just enough dim lighting to give it a "grown and sexy" feel. I met the server, "Butta" who was a sweetheart. She was pleasant and personable. I arrived here on a Friday night at 11pm, expecting it to be LIT (as I have been here a few years ago) and to my surprise I was literally the only person there! (They were playing reggae R&B music tho, which I enjoyed) I decided to grab a bite to eat while my homegirl was running late. I loved their drink selection and prices. I ordered the nachos and cheese, which I didn't really care for because it tasted like the movie theater cheese dip (I only put Salsa Con Queso) I didn't eat them. I had the stew chicken and cabbage, which was good but too spicy for me personally. For those who like spicy, you'll love it! But the only main issue was... There was a black strand of hair in my food! ‍ But I didn't lose my cool. I just politely held up the hair for Butta to see. She immediately brought me another plate. I thought this warranted having that meal removed from my bill but was denied since I was brought a fresh plate. People handle business differently, okay‍ . The Bronx is no longer my place of residence so no need for me to make my way back over here again.

I always play myself when I crave Mac N' Cheese and I order it from a Jamaican Restaurant . It was edible..... Would I buy it again? Hell Naw. Lesson learned, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk! :-*

Great service, great food, nice music and an all around good vibe. The drinks were good too. Definite go to place for Caribbean cuisine.

This is my updated review. This place hands down is ripping people off and sneaking charges on the bill. Please see the picture and you will understand. We went for happy hour on a Tuesday ordered drinks loaded Nachos and hookah. The hookah guy as well as the server is always Nothing less then Amazing but the loaded nachos we was charged for the cheese but the cheese was on the nachos so I'm not Sure why we paid more and the jerk chicken taco was sent back it no meat was provided on the taco and I'm not sure how was that possible when next door is a supermarket it's no way they can ever take pride in sending that out. When asked to Speak to the manager she was rude dismissive and told me she don't take back food. We was charged a service fee for i have no clue. And The server tip was not included. This Is why black own business cannot succeed in any environment because greed become the options of what's served. It's a lot of nice restaurants in that area that stand by the prices they put out and dealing with Customer. If u go pass On the food, order hookah drinks and go.

We shared Betsy's Mom's Clam Dip, Mushroom Toast, Bitter Greens Salad, Minted Lamb Meatballs, and duck pâté. The meal opened with the clam dip; cool, lush, and briny, with a creamy oceanic richness that coated the palate; followed by a tangy, salty depth that clung to each crunchy bite of bread. The Mushroom Toast followed with deeper savoriness: earthy, almost forest-floor mushrooms, warm and tender, turning silky as they soaked into the bread, while the edges stayed crisp and toasted, adding contrast to the woodsy umami and subtle garlic warmth. The Bitter Greens Salad provided a bright, palate-cleansing break that included crisp and peppery greens with a sharp lemony dressing that snapped on the tongue, layered with faint fennel sweetness and the nutty, salty bite of shaved parmesan. The Minted Lamb Meatballs arrived richer and more comforting, tender and juicy with a gentle gamey depth, lifted by fresh mint that cut through the richness, and a cool, tangy tomato-yogurt sauce that added creaminess and brightness in equal measure. We finished with pâté--silky, dense, and deeply savory, with a faint iron-rich intensity and buttery smoothness, especially when spread on bread with sharp, briny pickles that added crunch and acidity. Each dish felt intentional and well-balanced for sharing, with varied textures and temperatures that built naturally across the table. I'd happily return to explore more of the menu.

I see why this place has such low reviews, the common sense and customer service are nonexistent here, so I suggest everyone avoid this place and go somewhere where your money is valued. A friend suggested this place and I should have spent my Friday night elsewhere after a long week, after this gross and terrible experience. I presented my ID 4 different times and closed out my tab after I consumed 1 $18 drink, and my real out of state ID was put under a microscope. Additionally, another customer has the same Florida ID I had and the bartenders were comparing both!! The same ID I used to get on a flight. Are you telling me a US Government agency can't detect a fake, and a small bar in the Bronx can? After the 4th and final time, the (Andre L & team) bartenders told me to wait for the manager to come and resolve this issue. Why would I waste more of my time after my night was ruined to further "resolve" this non-issue? The pride flag out in front is clearly not representative of their all-inclusivity if they're accusing a Black woman of using a fake ID.

There's always something new whenever I return home, and this time it was Chez Messy, just around the corner from the 157th Street train station. Perched up upon a small staircase, this two-floor restaurant is intimate, cozy, and deeply sultry. Nestled in the heart of Uptown New York City, a neighborhood known for its Dominican roots and growing diversity, Chez Messy shines as a Spanish Caribbean infused gem that took my breath away. The space feels both refined and familiar, elegant yet soulful. As I sat waiting for my mother, I opened the menu, and immediately everything called my name. Our server Joshua was an absolute delight, attentive, kind, and confident in every recommendation. Antonio, the owner and floor manager, greeted us with charm and poise. Dressed in a sharp suit, he exuded pride and grace, the embodiment of someone who deeply loves what he has created. What touched me most was realizing that this Spanish Caribbean dream of a restaurant is owned and operated by Dominicans. As someone who has traveled the world and eaten in countless hidden gems tucked along cobblestone streets, I can say this place holds its own among the best. We started with a crisp glass of Albariño and dove into the pulpo and mofonguitos filled with ropa vieja. Let me start by saying I'm not typically a red meat superfan, but that evening I was completely transformed. The ropa vieja was tender, savory, juicy, and full of flavor. The plantain cups that held it were subtly sweet, creating a beautiful harmony between bold and delicate notes. The pulpo was perfection, tender octopus paired with a light touch of vinegar and oil, thinly sliced onions, capers, and cherry tomatoes that burst like little jewels of freshness. It was bright, balanced, and refreshing, a perfect prelude to what would become an unforgettable meal. Then came a surprise from Antonio, the avocado salad and batatas bravas, further inviting us into the full Chez Messy experience. I've had batatas bravas in Spain and beyond, but these were divine. Perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and creamy on the inside, with seasoning that danced on the palate. The avocado salad was heaven itself, silky avocado paired with slivers of almonds and a hint of citrus, perhaps grapefruit, creating a beautifully layered bite that was both rich and refreshing. By the time our entrée arrived, filet mignon and shrimp in cream sauce, medium rare, we were already swept away. The filet was tender and bursting with flavor, the shrimp perfectly cooked, and the cream sauce was so delicious that I found myself tempted to lick the plate. Everything about our experience at Chez Messy was divine, from the impeccable service to the romantic, dark, and dreamy ambiance, the vibrant music that moved through the air, and the drinks that sparkled as much as the conversation. Chez Messy is where you go when you want great food in a wonderful location, when you want to feel inspired, seen, and transported. It is a love letter to Spanish Caribbean flavor and Dominican pride, wrapped in elegance and joy. This place deserves to be full every night, though a part of me secretly wants to keep it all to myself.
