BEST BAR IN MARIN!! Francisco is the best server. remembers us every time by name and what we like.. Jessica is the BEST bartender in town!! food is spectacular and the vibes are always good! COME TO THE FLAT IRON!! you won't be disappointed! read more

I Love Flatiron. It's a great place to come and eat some good food, drink some good drinks, hang out and have a good time. Every time I come here the place is filled with people, and full of energy. It's no wonder because the drink selection is huge, the food is delicious, and the waiters and waitresses are very friendly and very attentive for it being more of a large bar and less of a restaurant. Because this place is more of a bar with a lot of seating, it is usually pretty loud inside but if you want a more quiet atmosphere, you can always eat in the back room. Oh and if you're ever craving tacos and modelos on a Wednesday, come here for Taco Wednesday!!! read more

Flatiron - Hot dog sliders! - Sports Bars Near Me - San Rafael, California

Friends and I headed over to Flatiron for Happy Hour and had a great time! We arrived around 4pm and our party was easily able to grab a table. We all started off with drinks. I ordered the Golden State Hard Cider. We then shared a few appetizers like the Spicy Waffle Fries, Mini Cha Su Bao Pork Buns, and 2 Live Guac. My personal favorite were the waffle fries! It was so good and I loved the kick it had to it. The bar itself is laid back, yet lively as it is a sports bar. They have a good HH menu. Food and drinks were great, and staff was pleasant. Only downside is parking. Overall, we had a great time and I can definitely see myself returning in the future! read more

I know this looks like a hot mess, but it was DELICIOUS!! The bun was just too big, so I had to take the top off and fork it. The build your own burger is delicious with great options for toppings. The coconut shrimp are also badass and they make a great Caesar salad. I come here a lot for lunch & drinks. The food is always delicious and the service is really good. My only reason for 4 not 5 stars is that this place can be a total "boys club" and I've been aggressively hit on / harassed several times by customers and a couple old staff guys. ... and I've seen it happen to other single women eating alone in here. ... I have started going when there is a busier lunch rush to avoid this. ... Il Davide & Panama Hotel are also close by, great food, and tend to attract a classier crowd which some solo women may prefer read more

Flatiron - Sports Bars Near Me - San Rafael, California

In all of my years of living in Marin, I had never been to The Flatiron. Practically a San Rafael monument, this bar is super popular with the locals and hosts some great game viewing parties. I was meeting up with some folks in the Marin tech community and was excited to see what everybody was working on. I needed a beer to get started and opted for the Prohibition pale ale. It was pretty hoppy and had a nice kick to it. To soak up the alcohol, I ordered a mushroom and Swiss burger with fries. The burger was pretty tasty but the ciabatta bread was a little too thick for me. Because we reached our $100 special spending threshold, we got 2 free pitchers of PBR, which of course tasted like ass, but it was free! Can't beat that no matter how you slice it. I had a lot of fun meeting with this group of Marin entrepreneurs and Flatiron was a gracious host. The vibe is totally divey but feels like home. It's a great place to watch a game too! I dined at the bar on a super busy weeknight. There was a football match on and the whole place was roaring watching it. If I had known it was such a sports bar vibe I would have chosen a different spot! The bartender was both distracted by the game and out of his depth with such a busy bar -- I had to really struggle to get his attention at first to order a drink -- he dropped lists and never stopped back until I literally pushed my menu across the bar into his workspace. I ordered my drink and when he brought it I said ya I'll wanna order food in a minute or something and he said Oky and again never came back until I again pushed my my menu across the bar. This happened twice more...the place was 90% men so I guess it could have been that or that I was a stranger or something...anyway not a friendly vibe to be sure. The food was meh -- I had the grilled cheese but it was not melted enough (or it had gotten cold) and there was no way I was sending it back. I wanted to order dessert but I asked the bartender for the list and...he never came back. Finally, I put my credit card...where? Across the bar, of course, so that he stopped and grabbed it and cashed me out with barely a word or glance. Not a "gastropub" experience at all -- more like a noisy local bar w/ MEH service and food. read more

This is a bar. So it's bar food with a twist. Service was good but WAY overpriced and food meh at best. I got the bacon hotdogs- description said 3 bacon wrapped hotdogs $13. They are literally the size of Wetzel's pretzels hotdog bites (I know because afterwards I was still hungry and got some pretzel bites - better tasting, fraction of cost, and 3x the amount of food). Not certain if it's the hotdog or bacon or the loaded red ketchup but the hotdogs had a little kick. I WOULD NOT have ordered spicy hotdogs. Plus they sprinkled green onions on top - had green onions been on description I would have asked no onions. Not to my liking at all. My son ordered Cheesesteak sandwich with sweet potato fries $18! Way too greasy and no where worth $18, maybe $10. My husband got BLT with onion rings $17 - he was real hungry but didn't finish sandwich. My daughter had pull pork sliders - 3 for $16 - it was slathered in sauce. We asked for slaw on the side in the description but they must not have gotten the note because it was soaked in cole slaw which made Hawaiian bread soggy. Best part of pull pork was the store brought Hawaiian bread. Not coming back. read more

Great wings! Also, strong pours on the cocktails! Well done guys! Friendly crew and plenty of sports on the tv.

Thanks to the check please team that recommended this and all the must tries - we had the naked wings with blonde sauce, Korean waffle fries, burger and Reuben. All were nicely done. The pastrami was a bit chewy and may have been an off night. Onion rings were nicely battered and fried and the salad was tasty too. read more

Be careful about the up charges. Two of us ate here. Dinner and drinks. Ordered a cheeseburger to go for my teenage son at home. Not only was a burger and fries $25, they added a delivery charge of $1 and then added another $5 unauthorized to my credit card. Total was $33 for a burger and fries. Outrageous!!! Called the establishment after charges went through on my credit card. They told me they would credit back the $5 and I was out of luck on the $1delivery charge (it was for the to-go box) STILL, no credit back for the unauthorized charges. What a rip!! read more

Best place to watch a game in San Rafael. Great burger. Solid fish tacos. Solid Manhattan. Trivia night was a good time.

My Special Angel and I had a delicious dinner of grilled Ruben sandwiches. My Special Angel had a half pint of Guinness and I had the ginger beer. Both were delicious. We would recommend the grilled sandwiches. Our Server Anita G was wonderful. read more

My niece an I were in San Rafael recently and we stopped by Flatiron for lunch. Boy are we glad we did! Nice sports bar in down town. Great atmosphere and great bar food. Big shout out to our server Ryan who took great care of us! I had the nachos with the taco meat. The taco meat was so good! And the plate was huge! My niece had the chicken tenders and a wedge salad. Very tasty tenders and the wedge salad was great. Can't wait to go back! read more

I think I have to give this place five stars, we had great service, it really has a funky cool vibe inside, We sat at four seat hight top by the window, had a view of the street my girls had already been here before and knew that I had to try the bucket of bubbles (you had me at bucket of bubbles)Lol and it comes with five splits of champagne in this little cool bucket which of course my bestie and I polished it off quick and in a hurry! Lol super fun! It gets a little loud in there but I like it that way because I am a little loud, we ordered deep fried raviolis, nachos, onion rings and the hot wings I loved them nice and spicy just the way I like it! and they were all crazy good all the best kinda bar food alllll my favorite favorite bar food all in one funky cool place. We watched football talked and ate for two hours and it just whizzed by like a blink of an eye! there is no way I won't be back, for the food alone, if you want to watch the game have a few drinks have some great bar food this is the place to be! call your friends tell him it's time to roll out and meet you at the flatiron cheers SYOY read more

Had my sons rehearsal dinner there. Got a room in the back all to ourselves. Waitstaff was great and food was your typical pub food.

A great beer list, including about a dozen rotating drafts (and they pick some cool stuff), well light, clean bar and cool ambiance (the floor is painted like a basketball court). The bartenders are super friendly, there are lots of screens with the game on. I have been twice, once. I had the burger which was a solid, pub burger. Great but not outstanding. The second time, I had the wings which were fantastic. What's not to like? If I lived in San Rafael, this place would be a regular hangout. read more

I've been to Flatiron a bunch for post work happy hours. They've got a full bar, and really good snacks/food. I'll drop by for lunch every few weeks, and usually grab their daily burger special (always good) or a black and blue chicken (blackened chicken, blue cheese dressing). When there is a game going on, Flatiron can get really noisy. So be wary if you're actually trying to have a conversation. I've been told by a little bird that Flatiron has a fried ravioli during happy hour. I might need to stop by again for that. read more

AS FIRST TIMERRS very disappointing, bar tender was rude and not patient and not understanding when asked a question. We ask her about her beers and she seems to not have clue about what she's selling, not just that but when I ask for a recommendation she reply to me with an bad attitude!. I like to go out once in a while with my cousin and she ruined our experience with her attitude, plus nobody wiped our table all night. Do not visit this place, it's a waste of time and money! Thank ya!. read more

My partner brought me here one time and I had a great experience. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the food was good. The number one thing I fell in love with, was the garlic tator tots! They are the absolute best! :) read more

I will always hold a soft spot in my heart for this San Rafael classic. Full disclosure: I once worked there as a bartender and it was so fun. Stopped in there recently after drinks at California Gold and had the best nachos ever. I have tried many a bar nacho and theirs is special. They use heavy duty chips so they don't get soggy so fast. And they use a cheese sauce so it stays creamy! Add carnitas and *chefs kiss*. It wasn't a big game night so not too loud. Just right! read more

There was no place to park!!! Went round different blocks to find a spot with no luck, so moved on.

I've been going to Flatiron on and off for years. I don't live in Marin County anymore but will still go there on occasion. The servers and staff have always been great. I last went this past Sunday and I was disappointed they stopped making the spicy siracha fries but thought I could still get something else. I ordered the chicken strips with fries and noticed that the portions were noticeably smaller. I got three or four chicken strips with only a small portion of fries. In the past the fries would be overflowing. After eating, I was still hungry so I ordered another side of garlic fries. I'm hoping this was an aberration and not the new normal. Like I said, the bartender and servers were always friendly but I'm hoping the portions I received on Sunday were just a mistake. Thanks. read more

I've been coming here for year and as I seat here waiting for my waitress, yet again, I feel like it finally time to write a review. Us Marinites have had very few places to go and hang out with a good beer over the years so we come here by default. The vibe is good but the price of food is getting out of control. The naked wings are disappointing because they are always dry and over cooked. For $11 for 6 wings you would think you would know how to cook them. I like the bacon wrapped street dog with garlic fries. That's usually my go to. I had a bomb patty melt on rye with grilled unions and 1000 island dressing. I added bacon to it and it and substituted the bread for a bun and it was perfection. But yeah, after much experience here it's a solid three stars from me. read more

Sadly the Wings were not up to par this evening. They were busy so I didn't send them back, spoke w chef and he agreed, but I should have sent back. I can No longer recommend this place for Buffalo wings as my server told me - crispy is a "special order and we don't want to do that"Sadly disappointed as the chef had been great previously. Server did give half price but told me not to order Buffalo wings again as wings are whatever comes out - extremely disappointed after so many great visits. read more

Foods pretty good, Service seems to be quite variable. Actually seems better when they're busier.

Came here Friday 9/7/18 to grab some dinner and an adult beverage. We sat in the back room at a table against the wall with a window. Like right when you walk in the back ORDERED: - beers, other drink. Hard to order more when server barely came around - coconut shrimp - buffalo chicken wrap w/ waffle fries - extra ranch instead of Blue cheese When the waitress was taking our order we just wanted to share food since we weren't starving. I asked if the side of fries with the wrap is small or big enough for two. The waitress snapped with an attitude "it's a side of fries." Super annoyed, it wasn't even busy. We ordered, ate, got the hell out, didn't tip her well for her continued rudeness and lack of ever coming to the table. We had to keep flagging other people down. Food was decent greasy bar type food. I've had better but I really, really, really wanted to like this place but our server ruined it for us Never returned and probably never will if this is the service you get. read more

The food was good, but the noise was almost intolerable! We came during a 49ers game, but the acoustics were awful!

This restaurant is superb. I've come back since my first visit and the food is great every time! I feel like the fare is close to comfort food in some instances - tater tots, grilled cheese sandwiches, wings - and it's all incredibly well made and so tasty! I got their grilled cheese which is a step above standard with avocado and tomato, a friend got their Caesar salad crunch wrap, another friend got wings, another the pork sliders... everyone loved their meal and it's certain we'll all be back. Ooooh, and I especially love that they have Brother Thelonius... read more

As a bar I'd give this 5 stars, as a restaurant 3 stars. I love the location and atmosphere for a bar, and the triangle shape of the building is very unique. Huge beer selection, dark wood walls, the floor is actually made from the floor of a HS gym, and there's a scoreboard behind the bar. I probably didn't make great food selections, as it turned out almost everything was fried - and it was overdone and dry. But the menu items were very interesting and I've heard the burgers are fantastic. Lots of TV screens with great pictures. read more

Big TV's, clean bar, super nice staff, window seating, chrome glass and piney wood; Flatiron sure had a face-lift. I was slightly shocked but very impressed with all the changes. The menu has an excellent selection of starters, sandwiches, salads to meet any type of eaters desires. The drinks a mixed expertly. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The plates look amazing and taste like a labor of love. I had the flatiron burger $11 - 1/2lb burger with grilled onions, tomato, lettuce, special sauce and served with a salad. Delicious! I will be coming back to try some more of the menu. read more
