Of course, being in the city makes everything harder. Finding a tire shop out here is nothing like Brooklyn, where there are ten shops within five miles. I looked up a place, drove all the way there, only to find out they were closed. At that point, I crossed my fingers and hoped Carlos Tires would still be open and thank God they were. I left the car with them and within 2 hours he called telling me the problem and cost for repair. He tried to find ways to cut the fee and called me each day with an update on when the car would be repaired. They stayed late to finish the job so that the next morning I could drive home 325 miles. He showed me the damaged parts and explained how and why it was crucial the repairs were made. The car is now driving well with no issues and my drive home went fine. It is so nice to be able to trust a mechanic when you are an out of towner. The last time I was there, they were able to use coupons that I didn't even know was available to bring down the price of the work that was being performed to a level that I can afford. Throughout the process, someone called me to provide status of how long something would take. If there was a delay, I was told that there is a possibility even though in the end, they were able to return my old Nissan Altima 2005 back to life at the original time they estimated. The important thing for me is that they were transparent and set my expectations. Matthew at the LIC location is great to work with. As far as the space is concerned, plenty of parking (albeit its located in a busy street). The waiting area is a good size and always clean. I believe coffee is free. The bathrooms are clean. I wouldn't necessarily recommend staying there to wait for your car if its going to take a significant amount of time. Like I mentioned, they communicate well, so you are better off going home if you can and wait for word on your repair.
