Lonnie at Flash Gordon is an excellent contractor. I contacted others but was most impressed by Lonnie's solid knowledge of his trade and the suggestions he made that best accommodated my situation. He upgraded the electrical system in my 1950s SFV home, installing a 220v electrical panel and updating two existing subpanels. He also assisted me in fixing a dead line to the garage and provided room to grow that stand-alone structure at a future date, whether it be for updated garage use or remodeled as a living space. Lonny does a number of things extremely well. Aside from being a quality electrician, he arrives on time, works all day, and cleans up when he's done. Even though he was super busy, Lonny was able to fit me in and replace a timer switch and some of my Insteon dimmer switches that had gone bad (They work so great with my LED lights, but a few went haywire after a few years. Based on good reviews I called Flash Gordon Electric and Lonny did come right over. Turns out the solution was literally the flip of a breaker that I should've figured out myself. That said, to go with the flip of the breaker, Lonny had a very flip attitude. He also brought a helper with him who Lonny seemed to be training. All said, Lonny was here less than 10 minutes, was very condescending, told me he was charging me for a "service call" and since two men came out it would be a ridiculously high $80. First of all, I didn't ask him to bring a second man and that shouldn't figure into the total price. When I asked about his 5% yelp discount Lonny told me he normally charges $125 but the $80 was "a deal". Granted, an electrician should be compensated for their time. BUT, lose the attitude. Lonny was definitely gleeful at charging me so much for having to do virtually nothing AND told me how he always enjoys charging people who make stupid mistakes... for example someone had a light switch turned off and their outlet wouldn't work. He flipped the switch and charged them an exorbitant fee as well. All in all, not a man I would ever call again. And not a man I would call a true professional. Learn to treat your customers with respect and they'll be customers for a long time. Lonny has a lot to learn. read more
