We went to Flapper's specifically for the shuttle to American Family field. The first night, the sketchy shuttle dropped us off 10 minutes after the game started. The second night, the driver wasn't planning on picking up until 10 minutes before the game started. We took an Uber instead. The bartender was so nice and apologetic, and the food was good. But this establishment needs a different driver with a safer shuttle bus if they continue to advertise the "Free shuttle with gift card purchase". read more

Such a great surprise find! Out in an area I wasn't familiar with, I looked up on Yelp to see what was about for drinks. I loved the name and sign, also very close by. Ran into a bartender I knew from a Milwaukee east side bar. Great drinks, an excellent bartender (Lissa), and a friendly and engaging group of other patrons at the bar. A much larger space than I expected. Pool tables, a kitchen (although in the process of hiring a new cook), and room for good sized gatherings. I heard from a couple people about the fish fry here, so me and my friend stopped here a week ago to try it out. My friend got there before I did and was able to hold a seat for me and ordered a a double vodka lemonade right away. Our bartender Raphael was super laid back and overall a good egg. They hold your cards to if you're running a tab which is nothing out of the norm when it comes to a bar, but because I didn't have cash on me at the time I had to ask for my card back because I was informed that I would need it to place an order at the kitchen for food. This was a first for me to go a kitchen window to do an order but it was not a big deal for us. Now if you do pay with your card, there's like a $2 or $3 fee so just a heads up. I went with the 2 piece fried cod with french fries and my friend did the same but with the potato pancakes. We didn't wait long before we received our order and I was ready to dig in. The fries were nicely reasoned and received a nice amount with the order. The fish was flaky, crispy and with a squeeze of lemon and dash of salt it was pretty good. I did see there other specials they had for other food items and would love to try in the future. But overall not a bad place and wished I would've stopped here sooner. read more

Braydon was an amazing bartender, very knowledgable in his craft recommending good mixers and shots, he was very friendly and talkative definitely a good vibe. I pulled over to look at some text messages and when I was done I looked up and seen this place with an open sign, hum I have never been here before while driving down this street for the last 11 years. I thought let's get a Sunday afternoon cocktail and check them out. The place is very old looking with old school wooden coolers, long bar and a spacious side room with more tables. The guy bartending was very welcoming to everyone. It started out as a quiet place with just a couple people but before my drink was done the whole bar was full and it was so loud that my Shazam app couldn't hear the song on the music box. I heard the bartender tell someone that the kitchen is closed so they must have some food at least frozen pizza like most bars. I've been here numerous times over the course of 10 years and thought I would leave a review about their food. I've never eaten there before but thought I would give it a try. I had some of their mini tacos which were amazing and some of their loaded tatchos which were very good and if you get the large order it's huge, four people could probably eat off of it and all feel pretty satisfied. Really amazing menu. I was surprised at how diverse it was considering it is a local bar in West Allis. Rumaki is on the menu, suffed portobello mushrooms (the large ones, not tiny ones) and more! The burgers are great, and can be made to order. Lot's of chicken options too. I have tried a variety of their appetizers and they are all pretty good. Poutine on a menu? Yes! It is pretty tasty too. I got delivery and everything is labeled well and even has smiley faces, the food is happy and delicious. Definitely give this place a try. Prices are reasonable. read more

I stopped in on Wednesday night. The smells were so good it was Amazing!! I went to the back to check out the menu and was fascinated with this Blue Plate Special. I decided to try it. I ordered the 2 pork Chops, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, or came with 2 Hawaiian rolls and I ordered 1 slice of key lime pie. This was TO GO. SO, I get home, find 2 pieces of pork chop ( boneless) that appears to have come from one chop. They had the nice looking black searing on the meat, but these were so dry it took extra chewing, hard to swallow. That was disappointing!! Then there was the broccoli in place of my green beans that I didn't want. I thought the mashed potatoes and gravy would comfort me a bit, but this spoonful of lumpy potatoes was not only a very small serving, but the gravy on them tasted like it came from a jar. I definitely was extremely disappointed with the Blue Plate Special, the portion sizes, the flavor and the way it was over cooked! But wait!!!!!! Remember I ordered key lime pie.... I got a nice size slice of pie that was covered in a white topping that was not whipped cream or cool whip. It was very thick and broke off in chunks when I put the fork in. This is not a Topping I've ever had on key lime pie and I've had plenty of key lime pie!!! But worse than the topping, which I scraped off, was the filling! It was discolored in spots on one side like it was dried out, a last piece that was sitting??? I don't know, but it was not a smooth creamy pie but closer to a piece of hospital pie. The entire meal was an epic fail! Flavor, texture, appearance, portion size...... Not even the dessert could redeem this meal.... I'm not sure what happened here on this night!!! I know they do make good food, I've heard anyway. This was just wrong in every way. I definitely would say to Stay away from the Blue Plate Special. I wasted my money and the food was wasted as well. I'm giving 2 stars because I know they can do better!!! At least I hope!!!! read more

I can't speak to the ambiance because we ordered take out for dinner, but the food was AMAZING. They have clearly labeled keto options on their menu which is awesome for us low carbers. Everything was cooked perfectly and really seasoned well. Portion sizes are good and the price is really reasonable. Did not expect this from a bar! Plus their menu was HUGE...we just planned on burgers but the choices were endless. Also, we ordered thru Grubhub and it came super fast and was still hot. Great little bar with a charm that refuses to let it be just another "Stallis" spot. Drinks are fairly priced and the staff is great. And the FOOD!!! The kitchen at Flappers is far and away some of the best pub food I've ever had. I even feel guilty calling it pub food - everything is fresh or as close as can be. They have a substantial menu full of options like made-to-order pizzas, burgers, fried goodies (spicy green beans OMG), greener options for those that are a bit more health conscious (unheard of and much needed!) and an awesome rotation of daily specials. Your typical local bar but the big difference is the bar food is a step above. Technically the restaurant is separate from the bar but nevertheless its really good food. I ordered a 1/2 pound "Flapper Burger" and poutine, and the man had the "Boo Bear Wrap" and cajun fries. My review would be lower, but the bf enjoyed his wrap, and the poutine was pretty tasty. My burger hower, not so much. The spread on it was good, but the burger kinda sucked, and I ordered grilled onions (the burger supposedly comes with raw too) and got no onion at all. Didn't seem like 1/2 pound either, though to be honest I wouldn't really want more. I also hadn't eaten all day, so I already had added the best spice. Went here today for the first time. Sat down for 5 mins and neither of the bartenders approached us. One looked at us and then walked outside to have s cigarette, and didn't bother to tell the other bartender to wait on us. The other bartender came out from behind the bar to look at a slot machine, looked at us and went back behind the bar. We thought she may be going to get stuff to wait on us but instead she started talking to one of the three people sitting at the bar. I will never be going back there. The ONLY thing that keeps me from rating this place 5 stars is the jukebox selection. Hip hop and rap is (almost) completely blocked. Obviously those of us that know the genres know our way around the labels... but I think it is quite bogus that every other genre including metal (which I also love) is available... except for these. I try to understand the language aspect... but then I realize this is a bar... why should anything be blocked? If people think it could attract the "wrong" crowd... that's a completely prejudiced outlook on things. My wife and myself were looking for a place close to home to drink at so we decided to check out Flappers. As we walked in, I could see that this was an old establishment (prohibition old?) and it was quite spacious. We sat at a table in the middle of room and that's when we heard the beginning of Billy Jean by MJ. My wife looked at me, I at her, wondering WTF. Then this white, early 30 something guy wearing a pink "preppy" shirt started looking around suspiciously. My wife said "watch him", just then, he "pops" his collar as the beat picks up and breaks out grabbing himself and lip syncing. It was so terrible is was awesome. After a minute watching him he noticed we were doing so, he sits down at our table and asks "so how are you lovebirds doing"? We couldn't stop laughing. Very nice interior, clean and inviting. We ordered the bars brandy old fashion sweet. The drinks were good with the tradition cherry and orange. We ordered the perch and cod fish fry. The fish was very good. Light breading, fried and not greasy. The coleslaw was crisp and fresh. The fries and potato pancakes were delicious. Marble rye bread finished it off.
