A friend was in town and she always craves Flanigan's wings as there isn't one in Orlando. I arrived first and tried to find a spot for four at the bar. I ended up waiting for her to arrive so we could get a high top. There's alway so many amazing drinks to choose from but I decided on the Flanitini which is like a dessert espresso martini. We ordered six garlic rolls to share, fries, and best of all 20 medium wings with garlic. These rolls are always absolutely deliciously lathered in butter and garlic. The wings still remain the star of the show. What would be even more amazing is if they used the butter and garlic from the rolls on the wings. Flanigan's, formerly Big Daddy's, is a historic small business success of South Florida. Finally took the wife after several visits with friends. Laura remembers her visits in the late 70's with a smile. Your hardest choice will be what to select. All of the appetizers, handhelds, and entrees are spectacular. I've had the ribs. So I arrived late to West Palm Beach. Needed some fuel. Flanigans was it. It was very festive for St Pattys Day. I got a Mai -Tai. It was Ok. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder and garlic rolls. Never been to Flanigan's but while traveling, we were told to go to one. The restaurant is decorated with sport fishing pictures and Knick knacks. A great sports bar type of place. The menu is huge, something for everyone. Our appetizer was garlic rolls, just doused in garlic butter, ridiculous amount of garlic butter. So yummy. My husband ordered the strip steak and it was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I saw a combination of pasta salad and Caesar salad and topped it off with a fried tilapia. Delicious. I've resisted dining at Flanigan's for the last four years since I've become a local, primarily for two reasons: 1. I was told that the cheapos from "The Island" sneak into Falnigan's under the cover of night for a bargain. 2. each time I passed by, the mobs of folk that congregate at the door waiting to get in, let me politely say, didn't seem to me to be aficionados of fine dining. The ole' idiom of not judging a book by its cover most certainly held true. I admit, shamefully, that I was wrong. In a matte of a week, I stopped by twice. Both times for dinner. I was greeted by friendly hostess that immediately on the first occasion relegated us to the bar (the place was packed) and to a table on the second occasion (late in the evening). IN both instances we were provided with several menus which caused us some confusion. How nice would it be if they offered one voluminous with all their offerings and a du jour card? Between the two visits we ordered: Ribs dinner combo, cheeseburger, salad with salmon, Caesar salad and a bunch of assorted libations. Libations aside, the food was excellent. Flanigan's 330 Southern Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL 33405 4.5 Stars (chain restaurant review) With 25 in-state locations, one could certainly call Flanigan's a burgeoning star on the eatery scene. I am sure there are cruddy restaurants everywhere, but like engineers, there is a large accumulation of them in Brevard County. When I entered Flanigan's, I steeled myself for another fleecing. Apparently, the owners in Palm Beach want even low-end joints to serve good food. Bianca was our server today, and she was the only downside I experienced. She wasn't disgruntled, rude, or anything like that. She was just your average myrmidon doing what she's told, no more, no less, and that runs true to form with most places. I put in an order for one Texas Burger and a Tuna Steak Sandwich. Bianca returned with my order, after taking the obligatory food review pics, I dug in to the comestibles at hand. First up on the Big Boy's ever-vigilant palate was the Texas Burger. Made with a 10 oz. Hand-formed patty of USDA Choice ground cow served up on a Kaiser roll with tomato, bacon, Bleu cheese, a stack of Tumbleweed Onions, and then drizzled with a homemade wing sauce. This burger was very good for a chain. Cooked to the perfect doneness and bursting with flavor I had to take more than one bite. Did I mention the bacon? The Tumbleweed Onions added an extra crunch and the wing sauce was flavorful yet had enough kick to it to remind you it was on a Texas-influenced burger. The Tuna Steak sandwich had the same fantastic Kaiser roll as the base, but not the same quality as the ground bovine. This was obviously from a frozen tuna steak, but someone back there sure as heck knew how to prepare it! I ordered mine Blackened, and it was cooked to a perfect medium and exceedingly easy on the taste buds. If the quality of the protein was upped just a tad, this would have been a 5 Star review; regardless, the Big Boy says, "If you are in South Florida and don't know where to go for some tasty victuals, remember The Big Boy said Flanigan's." read more

This is a very enthusiastic three stars I'm giving, and I'd like to rate it 3.5. That may sound weird, but considering I've thought for decades that it sucked, three stars now is a rave review from me. It's the bar I like. It turns out that it's way better than sitting at a table. The atmosphere at the bar and the bartenders have all been great on my recent three visits. I stopped one late afternoon after I had a quick job to do in Lake Worth, and this Flanigan's on Southern Blvd was right on the way home. For the same reason, I went back two more times shortly after that first visit. Happy-hour beers (and other alcohol) are at great prices. Bartenders Jason and Mike are so friendly and upbeat. Mike told me how to add that jukebox app to my phone, and I was even happier playing whatever songs I wanted. Beer, my music, and burgers -- what's not to like? There are a number of regulars, several of whom I spoke with on my visits. They all told me they love the low prices and the menu specials. There are different specials each day of the week. The burger is surprisingly good. The beers before eating may make them taste better than they are, but I'm quite sure they are good anyway. I ordered medium rare with Swiss, twice. On my third visit I had the Chicken Philly at the suggestion of a bartender, but I didn't love it like he does. It's ok. Average. Curly fries usually aren't my thing, but they are perfectly fine with ketchup. Last weekend my friend had the prime rib cooked rare, and she loved it. So I say 3.5 and I'll definitely go back.
