I came to the Magic City Compound in Little Haiti to hear a specific DJ. Walking in it was like walking into a festival or the set of Avatar (the blue alien one not airbender). There are lights in the trees, tarp creating shade, and lit fixtures. It's a really dope vibe.
Now the Flamingo Bar. Once you walk into the compound it's to your left. It's actually a repurposed metal container so that's cool! Technically all the bars are extensions, however, each one has its own theme. One is Arabian nights, & one is beach themed. Each bartender is incredibly friendly and willing to talk about the drink menu. I picked their brain about what to get and decided on the Haitian margarita. Not the best I ever had but tasty, also not the most potent. The flamingo bar sells pre-mixed cocktails which leaves me with mixed feelings. With so many places in Miami popping up with amazing mixologists it is a bit disappointing, however, last weekend there were 5,000 people here and I can't imagine individually mixing thousands of drinks even with three bars.
Overall, they're the only option here and the drinks aren't bad. Don't think you can flirt your way to free drinks they're strict and all you'll here is "I wish I could" also, don't expect to get a buzz from one drink, they're not strong enough to be buzz inducing. For $12 a cocktail you can get better elsewhere but now that the Wynwood yard is closed this is the first place I've found with a similar vibe. read more
