The turn off was the shrine upon entering the disarray of the space; he had no pictures of events to share how the space could be transformed ....just stinky warn dirty carpet and a messed up parking lot. This is one of those restaurants you see off the side of the freeway (I-80 to be exact just pass the Carquinez bridge going East) And you say to yourself... hmmm... i wonder if the food is good there... No time to Yelp... big mistake... So the place is a banquet hall... and buffet lunch is served as a last ditch effort to get rid of leftovers in my opinion... Is the food edible... yes The naan and rice were decent and the chicken tiki marsala was a good dipping sauce... the sprite was flat so they had to bring us cans.... nice people, but nothing "memorable" enough said... read more

If you are looking for an affordable place to have your event at, this hidden gem is definitely worth looking into. You can't beat the price, which includes set up, clean up, food, linen, silverware, and china. The outside may not look fancy, but once you enter the banquet hall it's a beautiful place. I had my wedding here and couldn't have been more happy of my choice to have it here. The owner Paul, is a very nice man who ALWAYS answered his phone, and when he couldn't he was calling me back within an hour. Every time we had to meet for follow ups and details, he always accomadated our schedule. He was very easy to work with and his whole staff was very nice and helpful. Going back to downhill. We used this place May 2013 and food was fine. May 2014 and they ran out of the main course - the cheapest item to make - BAKED CHICKEN! How can you say that you made 15% above order??? I was one of the last to get a serving and there was not a piece left. To top it off the chicken pieces were already cut in half???? OF course, no one can get even seconds! THAT IS EMBARASSING!! Come on, $30 per head and you did not have enough CHICKEN! Really pissed me off and to top it off the only other main dish was HAM from a Can. I thought it was SPAM, which would have tasted better then sliced CANNED HAM with pineapples on it. They sure had pleanty of pasta, potatoes and veggies thinking they can supplement the CHICKEN chinsin! The venue is nice and well kept, but GET a NEW COOK, who really knows how to COOK and estimate a banquet serving. So if you are already booked there, WARNING- Check with the manager or whoever heads up that establishment FIRST. I would go back, but not until they change the CATERER!!! Full service banquet hall in Vallejo! Very beautiful inside! I had my daughters Sweet 16 here recently. American food option was delicious! Keep in mind that the base price doesn't include all the "extras". But it was still worth it all because they do main set up, all the clean up, food etc for you! It was one of the easiest parties I've had! And most Beauitful! I'll definitely use them again! And have friends that plan on booking now that they know they are here. Paul communicates very well. Talk about bad! Attended a function here last nite and they ran out of the main dish after one serving. They served chicken, cut the thigh in half for gawd's sake, and still ran out! They then had the audacity to serve canned ham!!! WHAT THE FU... Listen I understand it's a business, and you're suppose to make a profit, but that was plain greed. A server or worker decided that she needed dinner and proceeded to help herself to a plate (she was however kind enough to go after everyone else had their one share). We have used Flamingo banquets since it was built. We had over 10 events here and never had any issues. Our largest gathering was over 400 people and Paul accommodated us by adding extra tents outside the hall. They even brought extra bartenders and servers to help us with large number of guests we had. His price is fair and food is very good. The restaurant is pretty inside, well decorated. The waiter gave us a weird attitude, edging on rude, the whole time. The wine (Ravenswood Zinfandel) tasted like the bottle had been open for too long (all sour and tangy). The samosas were tasty, hot, and crunchy - and among the smallest I've encountered. The vegetable korma was mediocre, the third dish we ordered was spicy-hot and flavorless. It's on the pricier end of what I've seen, particularly for the small portions. It was the first time I've had Indian food blow out my other end the next day. My partner had remarkable gas afterwards as well, on top of what is often impressive. :P So, irritable attitude from the wait staff, forgettable food, crappy wine, pretty decor. All in all, an experience I'm ok with not repeating. I'm going to spend my time and money at Cafe Raj in Albany with the kickass family vibe and delicious food. It didn't suck. The Nan is pretty good, rice is good. I start judging an Indian restaurant on those two. The goat vindaloo had barely detectable specks of "goat" in it, could have been "beagle" for all I know. But the flavor was good. I ordered takeout, and when the person took my order, he asked me to rate the hotness I wanted on a scale of one to ten. I said, "seven" just to test them. Well, "seven" was pretty accurate. It stung at first, but I did not spend the evening on the toilet, so that's about right. In addition to the goat dish, I tried the spinach and garbanzos, which was good, not crazy good, but reasonable. Of course I'm saving the best for last - their chicken tikka tandoori was excellent. Not rivaling Shalimar of course, but it's what I call "Vallejo good", which means good, for Vallejo. Very large portion, super flavorful. A bit dry, but that's what the other juicy dishes are for. Mix and match baby. Why anyone would line up like sheep and eat food that's been sitting in a steam table for hours is beyond me. Oh, and they have an OG Gangsta doorman with dreadlocks who likes Bob Marley. read more

I will NEVER recommend this place or bring my business back here. I was told we could bring our own alcohol and then was told something different the day of. They claim there was a miscommunication on my part even though I left a Voice mail the week before confirming that it WAS ok and if there were refrigerators or did we need to bring coolers. I got no response to my message but a family member spoke to Paul the night before and got an ok to bring alcohol in as early as 9 am to start chilling. I was informed, as my guests started to arrive, that I needed to pay for a bartender at an extra $200 to serve us our alcohol. I refused and after a few discussions, the fee was waived. However they did try to keep all the wine, apple cider and champagne that we brought. Claiming we had drank it all. It was only after I barged into the kitchen and looked in the refrigerator that I pointed out to the manager how many boxes of mine were in there and showed her all the food that they claimed had been eaten, then later claimed was thrown out when some guests had arrived late and asked to eat. To top it off, the establishment feed their own family from the food I BOUGHT at $25/head BEFORE my guests had begun to serve themselves!! VERY disrespectful, tacky and down right rude. I was also charged for 2 security guards at $200 each and only saw 1 security guard all night. Very disappointing read more

Very rude dude that makes the contract . He says one thing and comes out with another so you can pay more money . I was suppose to pay 6,400 for everything the hall , food etc .. , and he said that was the final price , once we were in terms of signing the contract it said 7,800 grand total almost 8,000 for the hall and buffet etc .. If there was a "No Star" option, I would give that to this restaurant. Expensive, terribly bad food, bad service, attitude - what else can I say. I like Indian food and stopped at the restaurant to try out. The tandoori chicken seemed like pulled from the refrigerator, put in the oven "again" to give it a sizzle. It had no "tandoori taste" - seemed to be just red colored sizzling meat. Likewise, The shahi paneer had no taste, had remnants of a dal (since when do we get a few grains of dal in shahi paneer?. The waiter/owner even forgot the order of raita and forgot to apologize for the same. No appetizers and even the chutneys/pickle have to be paid for. read more

So i'm not sure why this place has received bad reviews, but i just thought i'd give it a try today since i've already tried the other indian place in vallejo- stara i think- and it was definitely NOT on par to my standards. But this place was DELICIOUS and AMAZING! I would encourage everyone to try it out- the chicken tikka masala was excellent...definitely not oily, but absolutely PERFECT, along with everything else that i ordered. This place does catering too- I would highly recommend it even though it's in an out-of-the way location....but, definitely worth the trip! read more
