I have been going to Firehorse Salon for over a decade now and I can't tell you how much I love Leda's haircuts, but even more so how obsessed I am with her technique of applying overall color and highlights to her clients' hair in a way that still looks extremely natural, but waayyyy more beautiful than the "natural" way they came into her salon. Very consistently over the years I've received many incredible compliments the days and early weeks out of Leda's salon for color and cut. I have very fine and very long hair that's getting more and more grey each year and as I don't want to look older than I am, keeping my color looking youthful is so very important to me. Leda makes me look and feel like a million bucks, every. single. time. A note about the salon itself would be that it has always felt like such an inviting space. I wasn't done showing photos nor was I reassured or that she understood what I wanted. She interrupted my appointment to do a bang trim for someone else in the middle of it. At one point said she was 'not prepared' for my hair. Why not? That's literally her job. She cut it dry, it felt very chaotic. I found this place bc I searched for a razor cut, liked the examples of the work. I expected a wet, razor cut. Scissors are fine too. If I wanted a 'curly cut' or DRY cut I would've searched for that. Couldn't get a decent blowout which should last days this didn't even look good immediately after much less after the walk through SF fog to my car. I tipped 30 on top of the 190 starting price. So 220 total. Plus I come from the north bay and had to drive over the bridge into SF. I have waited for weeks to finally post a review because I really tried to give it a chance but I'm very unhappy I wasted over 200 and couldn't even get a good cut or blowout. My hair is curly but it doesn't need any special treatment it can be cut normally, wet, and can be worn either way, curly or smooth, with a good cut. Once again, a stylist was late, then rushed me, didn't listen, didn't deliver, wasted my time and money, and ruined years of grow out. And I'll have to go back to trimming it myself as these shattered layers grow out to recover the thickness I had. I could have done a better job myself at home. I did not hate what I came in with, i actually liked it. It just needed to be cleaned up and evened out basically. Long layers. Classic. Could not have been a more simple request. She completely overcomplicated things. No idea why she cut it dry, and I did not want that! but she didn't ask or consult me if I was OK with it or tell me ahead of time she planned to do that. But she was perfectly polite n all. Just not at all the skill level I expect of a senior stylist charging nearly 200 for a cut. For that I expect a great blowout to be no problem at all. I expect to walk out feeling confident. I have examples of great past cuts. I wish I had just walked out in the 30 minutes she made me wait. The last cut I had from someone else they were also very late and it sucks that happened yet again. Wasn't sure bc they take cc info upfront and say they charge for late cancels if it was even an option without getting charged. Ought to have been able to get a nice cut and blowout for over 200. Should not have been this complicated or difficult. Also think the so called clean/green products, maybe just don't perform as well as the ones that aren't greenwashed and just focus on performance. They did nothing to give me the moisture or the protection from fog and frizz my hair needs. And the whole time my people pleasing, introvert self was just saying oh yeah thats fine no problem oh yeah cool sounds good i trust you yeah i love it its great thanks! smh Not at all the experience I was paying for, to actually feel pampered and not have to do this job myself. I could've done it myself and been happy with it. I wouldn't have done what she did to my hair myself. the location also leaves much to be desired but thats SF in general the local bums and crazies are to be expected. the search for a stylist that will deliver professional service and results? sadly continues.

In fact, it's always the opposite. Every time I leave, I feel confident and beautiful. Having someone who truly knows how to do your hair is life changing, and that's exactly what it's been for me. Senica listens to what you want, is honest about the health of your hair, and always sets realistic expectations. She takes her time and makes sure everything is done right. She's also taught me so much about what products actually work for my hair and given me great aftercare tips. Her work is flawless and I actually look forward to every appointment with her. I didn't want to write this review but I just have to. Not sure how this happened but my hair is…read morebasically orange. I use a trusted high end purple shampoo, and even that doesn't help. I have extensions and needed a move up and more highlights. I was late to the appointment so she had to rush, but the color just was not a match. During the appointment it felt like a passive aggressive experience, during which she pulled my hair the entire time. It was exceptionally rough, and having my hair done all my life that has never been the case. Not only that, but the color just does not hit. My tape-in extension was even on the floor at one point, and she just picked it up and carelessly placed it. I've never had slipping, and these extensions have legit fallen out (while out), and I take really good care of them. Here is a picture of my color now, after less than 2 months. I'm not sure how this is considered blonde, and I've been blonde for over a decade. My hair is also not hard to lighten, (my family are natural platinum on my father's side). Like I said, it felt like one passive aggressive experience where I was uncomfortable and felt unwelcome. People make mistakes with showing up late but that doesn't mean you should give someone a bad experience. I understand as an independent contractor you need to protect your time, to which I'm sorry, but the results just didn't deliver even though there actually was enough time as was stated during the process.
