I have always been a fan of Flaming Wings as I frequented their branch in Katipunan back when I was in college. I have my usual order (I will never forget this because this is what I order whenever I'm in there): The Caribbean Jerk Chicken Tenders with Honey Mustard or Bleu Cheese Dip and Red Iced Tea. The Wicked Oreos is also to-die-for and is the perfect cap-off to the meal.
Anyway... I was in Taft for an errand, so I decided to drop by their Flaming Wings branch for old time's sake. It's still on the same spot (I'm also familiar with this branch since I used to live in Taft for a couple of years) and it hasn't really changed much. Still cramped, still packed.
I ordered my usual and I chose to have the Bleu Cheese dip with it. It took less than 10 minutes for me to get my order, understandable, since I was sitting at a table for one, and most of the other tables were in the middle of their meals. Still, it was busy nonetheless, so when I noticed a little hiccup, I didn't complain anymore. Plus I was starving.
They seem to have toned down the spiciness of the Caribbean Jerk Sauce. I was a little bummed that it was less spicy than it was; but then again, people who have tried it complained of its spiciness ever since before, so I guess they just listened to their customers and delivered. The hiccup that happened with my order is only minor: They gave me an aioli dip instead of the bleu cheese dip that I ordered. I decided to shrug it off since I hardly have it anyway, and I won't be able to try again anytime soon anyway.
Overall, Flaming Wings is still worth the visit for nostalgia. And if you're not on a diet, don't leave that place without having Wicked Oreos! For old time's sake, anyway. read more
