This place is probably one of the better kabob joints in Virginia. It doesn't have a very 'restaurant' theme too it. Kind've like a 'fast-food' place... but the food is carefully prepared for premium taste :D You get LOADS of food at a very cheap price and everything comes in big proportions. Not a bad little kabob place. I've had much better, but I've also had worse. I'd compare it to Reston Kabob, but slightly less grand. I'll assess each stage of the meal individually, based on the parts I consider to be crucial in any kabob experience: Prices: excellent. One of the only places I've seen where you can get a combo (2 meats) kabob for under $10 Bread: very good flavor, but crispier and flatter than I like. Huge bonus points for offering extra bread when requested (dine-in only). Chickpeas: terrible. Tasted like chickpea baked beans...which is not good. Rice: not bad. Maybe a little bit too much cumin seed, and a tad oily, but nothing offensive and certainly not bland. Chicken: juicy and flavorful, though somewhat small Lamb: surprisingly good. Very tender and well cooked. The highlight of the meal. Kubideh: bleh. Tasted like a 7-11 burger bite. Very few herbs and spices, dry and uncharred. Salad: actually close to a real salad and not the usual laughable pile of a single lettuce leaf, and nub of cucumber and tomato. Pretty good dressing as well. Yogurt sauce: kind of ranchy and thick, but decent tasting. Better than the one at Reston Kabob, but not as yogurty and light as I prefer. I'd return to Flame Kabob because of it's convenient location in Greenbriar, and excellent prices. Not the quintessential kabob restaurant, but it's decent. read more

Really more like 3.5 I'm sure by now most people know that my most favorite thing in the world are hamburgers. Unfortunately, i was unable to participate in National Cheeseburger Day because i had to spend my evening tutoring a kid with the worse gas I've ever encountered. When i left at 8PM, all i wanted was a burger. Unfortunately my only options were Ruby Tuesday, Five Guys, McDonald's or Wendy's, none up to my standards. So i settled for the next best thing, Kubideh. I don't know if it was because it was nearing closing time, but this place was a little lacking in service. I think there was one person taking orders and cooking! I ordered my food to go, but was able to score extra yogurt sauce and bread as i was starving since i hadn't eaten since 11am! The bread is decent, a little too crispy for me but i do like the flavor. I like my kubideh less charred than most , but that's like it! I agree with the complete lack of spice or herbs. But, since i was craving a hamburger, this actually worked to their advantage today. I also got extra salad since i didn't get any of the sides (ewww chickpeas!) and its nice that its more than just a lettuce leaf. I used the yogurt sauce as a dressing and that was incredibly tasty. Probably because i think there is more ranch dressing than yogurt in the yogurt sauce :P Rice was good, but a little too much. Give me more meat! I'll be back since i live next door and frankly, its the best hamburger craving fix in my nearby area. read more

I ordered one of their combos and asked if I could sub my two sides for a salad. Nope. OK...then in walked someone else and he was allowed to do the same thing I had just requested to do. Interesting. I wanted to try both their lamb and chicken so I could get a good feel for the place. Compared to the local "holy grail" of Kabob spots aka Reston Kabob, their meat was on the tougher, dryer side. They had a unique seasoning blend but I can't say it was my favorite. Not the best or the worst I've ever had. But definitely unique. The chickpeas were terrible; runny, chunky, and bland. So they were trashed lol. The yogurt sauce was very runny as other reviewers have said. It was spicy but not in a good way. If this works for you, go for it. But for now, I will continue to make the trekk and deal with the wait over at Reston Kabobs for my kabob fix. read more

Maybe I just like everything I eat to be super spicy and seasoned. Yeah that's probably it. Cute little spot. I've never eaten Afghan food so I thought I'd try it. The chicken kabobs were very tasty, lean, and full of flavor. I love chick peas and the ones I ate here are great! Wonderful spices and just the right portion. I had to wait a couple extra minutes but it was worth it since they bake the flat bread for you on the spot so it was warm when I got it. I loved the rice as well...Afghan rice is the best. I will go back often for the great food, great prices, and friendly service! I would give this place a -1 if I could. Went there today to get some take out and I was assaulted by the cashier! She threatened me and my 74 year old mom who was left petrified by the experience. I was threatened with being stabbed in the neck, threatened to be hit by a chair the cashier (meena I believe her name is based on the info I was given by the police), and was kicked and physically assaulted when I was outside the restaurant. I did call the police and got a case number and will be going to the magistrate's office for a warrant tomorrow! This was an unbelievable and surreal experience. Stay away from this place. We were in fear of our lives and were afraid she would get a weapon and come after us. I don't know where the owner is that I had known for years but he needs to really do something about her! read more

I really like the kabobs here. They are very well cooked and come with a savory rice, a side (get the potatoes), and naan. The drawback is that no matter when I come here it seems to take 15-20 minutes to get my food. I was the only person in the place on Tuesday, and I sat and sat. Now when the food was ready it was hot, well cooked and delicious, but this place is supposed to be a carryout, and, since there's no ambiance to speak of, there is little to do but develop carpal tunnel syndrome on my iphone. Still though, this is the most authentic, worthwhile place to dine in the Greenbriar Shopping Center. I only gave it three stars because they are so slow. Flavor wise it is a five. read more

Along route 50 few doors down from Starbucks is Flame Kabob. This convenient, fast, and friendly Afghan Kabob spot has been a favorite for years. What you will find is a casual spot for quick pickups and sometimes casual sit-downs. The rice is flavorful, full of aroma, thin and amazing. There are an assortment of beefs (steak and ground) charbroiled, chickens charbroiled to perfection, gyros, and a large assortment of sides including chickpeas, spinach, salad, yogurts. When you order, you will get a large portion of tasty tan rice, a side of your option meat, a side of salad, your choice of vegetarian side, and a small yogurt. My favorite is the green spiced yogurt sauce that I spill on my rice for added tanginess. I recommend Flame Kabob anytime, and it is a regular go to for me when I am hungry and in need of Middle Eastern goodness! BTW prices are amazing. read more

I tried this place cuz I thought it was family owned and that the taste would be consistent. However, it fell short as apparently, this is a chain and has a different from the one in Springfield.. Anyway, so i got the beef and ground beef combo.. Flavor was ok, it was quite tasty, but the beef was hard and chewy - nothing special... I'd drive to crystal city only if it wasn't too far from where I live. Anyway, I guess I'll give it another try and see if it's any different.. This is a small Afghan restaurant in Greenbriar shopping center. These types of restaurants usually remind me Bus/Taxi/Truck driver restaurants in New York. Why? Because there is no effort put in the way things look, prices are cheap and food is a surprise. Why? Well sometimes you get good food, sometimes you get okay food and sometimes it needs a bit of improvement. I have been going to this place on and off for the past 3 years and the food has never been consistent. Overall the food is okay so dont let this review deter you. First, they do not allow you to get hummus as a side with your meal. WTF?! Every other kabob place in the area has hummus as a side. It's one of my favorite things about getting kabob - so right off the bat I was not happy with this place. Instead, I chose some strange potato mixture that looked like baby food and tasted strange. Took one bite and threw the rest out. YUCK! Next, the portions of rice and meat are about 1/2 of the amount you would get at other places. Nothing special about the meat, average at best. Sauces were unique (yogurt sauce was minty and green sauce was more of a spicy cucumber) but they literally fill up the super tiny sauce containers about halfway - it's as if they are trying to save money in any way they can. Basically, there are a ton of better kabob places in the area. Don't waste your money here!! read more

The staff here is amazing! They provided catering for an event I had recently and the food was exquisite. All our guests were so happy with the service and delicious food. I was able to get exactly want I wanted with ample flexibility from the staff in terms of making the order and scheduling. It helped so much that they are halal as this accommodated many of our guests at the event. I truly appreciate how easy the owners of Flame Kabob are to work with. I have driven by Flame Kabob on many occasions, it is in a good plaza. I ordered the Flame Combo II, Steak and Kubideh kabob. The steak was chargrilled beautiful, very tender. The kubideh had good flavor. The naan was as big as a deflated football, lol. The side of chickpeas could have been a bit bigger for my taste. The chickpeas were a little on the bland side but the green spicy yogurt made up for it in spades. The rice, was wonderfully mild in flavor and complimented the meat very well. I was told this location did not serve the Mantu (ground beef and onion filled dumplings), that was a tad disappointing. Looking forward to my next visit. Thank you Flame Kabob. read more

This place has the #1 lunch special in Chantilly! I eat here at least twice per week and while I have not ventured away from the $5.75 chicken special or $5.95 beef special...I have yet to be disappointed. All meat is cooked on a skewer over a grill and the specials are served with a generous portion of deliciously seasoned rice as well as a side of chick peas. The best part by far is the all-you-can-eat naan available for dining in customers. Concocting your own mini gyro sandwiches with a drizzle of the out of this world yogurt sauce is the way to go. This is my favorite Kabob restaurant around... and I've tried quite a few in the area. My family always gets the chicken kabobs. The chicken tastes so fresh and is beautifully spiced. No no bland chicken here! The rice is also very good and seasoned well. My family also loves the spinach. The green sauce is very spicy, but I like it that way. Ewww!!! We ate there the other night and then I read in the paper this morning the results of their Health Department inspection on 1/22. I'M DISGUSTED!!!! Live roaches were observed in the kitchen, grime on the rice pot -- not cleaned from the night before, not keeping food at safe temperatures, not washing hands properly. AND the night we were there the cashier was a total jerk and was acting like he was doing me a big favor. Ummm, thanks but no thanks. I will NEVER eat there again!!!! read more

I payed 12.71 for a 1 piece of kubideh kabob... basically got ripped off and the lady was nice to me too idk how you can mess up someone's order like that. For under $5, I got a juicy four-piece chicken kabob on a generous heap of herbal rice. I also got a big piece of naan-type bread, and spicy green yogurt to dip it in. The chickpeas were filling. I don't usually go back and update my reviews but I had to do it. I will not be going back to this place. I did enjoy their food... But cant anymore. The issue has to do with the cleanliness of their food and them not being able to get the order correct half of the time. Found hair in the rice. Gave them a second chance a month or two later and guess what, hair once again in the food. Maybe its bad luck but twice in a row? So gross. Another reason is that they cant seem to or care to ever get your order done right. Had many occasions where I had to wait while they made a new order because the person who took the order didnt communicate with the person cooking or the person cooking forgot the details of the order.
