When I checked in, I asked the woman at the front desk how long it would take, and she told me "about half an hour." I left to grab something to eat and came back an hour later only to find that they hadn't even touched my car. When I asked about it, she looked at me like I was crazy for coming back and irritatedly explained that they were backed up something that was never communicated to me in the first place. She knew I was waiting on the car because I specifically told her I was going to get food. The issue isn't that they were behind schedule, things happen. The problem is the terrible communication and complete lack of respect for customers' time. If they had simply told me they were running behind, I could have chosen to leave or arrange an Uber. They also don't seem to understand what a scheduled appointment means. Her explanation was that they operate "more like a doctor's office where you wait for your doctor." Even doctors usually communicate delays better than this and that's saying something. Overall, very disappointing customer service and poor communication.

I purchased a Groupon for a smog check at Nevada Auto Center and went there specifically for that…read moreservice. Unfortunately, this is a full mechanic shop, so smog customers appear to have to wait behind vehicles being serviced for oil changes and other mechanical work. When I arrived, I was told the smog check would take about 10 minutes. After waiting longer than expected, I had to ask for an update and was then told they still had not gotten to my vehicle because they needed to finish other oil changes first. At that point, I decided to leave rather than continue waiting. A smog check itself only takes a few minutes, so I would not recommend this location if you are using a Groupon and expecting a quick, convenient smog test. They may be fine for other mechanical services, but my biggest issue was being given an unrealistic expectation about the wait time from the beginning. It ended up wasting my time and the trip there.
