Alem did show up a tad late but at this point I didn't care. He installed the window A/C and briefed me on basic operation noting that extra water drain plugs were provided and how to replace same. In addition, Alem also adapted the new upper cabinet to reuse the original doors and rewired the existing lighting into the new cabinet. Both the drawer and cabinet had been unusable for months. The cabinet companies I contacted wanted to replace all the cabinets/drawers, costing thousands! The handymen either thought the job was beneath them or they simply didn't call me back. I phoned Alem, left a message and he called back within the hour. After giving him measurements and necessary information, Alem was at my house later that afternoon with a new cabinet, ready to work. One other handyman had looked at this for me, but their solution didn't hold up, so i was in search of a permanent fix. I have grown fond of using Yelp's "request a quote tool" to easily put out a project request to several businesses that serve my area, and find it very easy to communicate and get quotes in this manner. Unfortunately for the tool, but fortunately for me, I may not need to request a quote again for awhile, because I am just going to hiring Chris and Chase at Carolina Custom Home Improvements to do any work I have moving forward! Chris got back to me within an hour of my quote request, with which I also submitted a pair of photos of the damage. He took a guess at the issue, provided two likely solutions, a price quote based on what we could see in the photos, and was able to come do the work within just a few days. I appreciated the direct manner he answered, and his sense of urgency. On arrival, him and Chase were easy to talk with, and got right to work diagnosing the issue. Due to some cracking on the siding, they would need to replace some of it to permanently fix things. They also noticed some other damaged siding, offering to fix that while they were at it. I agreed, and they set to work calling suppliers. They were able to not only find the same manufacturer, but the correct color! Obviously, the new siding is not faded, so you can tell it's new, but that is totally expected. Once they obtained the materials (with no markup, giving me the receipt directly) they set to work. This siding is 25 feet in the air, and a hard job on a long ladder. They got it done in around 90 minutes. It fits flush and looks great, see my photos. The job site was left clean, and they even tamped down the holes in the soil made by the ladder and their feet on the soft ground. I'm happy to use them again in the future based on this work, and they are knowledgeable on several subjects. They'll at least be my first call.
