Because of their failure, my cat had to come back for another stressful trip, restraint, and blood draw that should never have been necessary. There was no apology, explanation, acknowledgment of what they put my cat through, or effort to make it right. Dr. Emily later called about the replacement bloodwork and again offered no acknowledgment or apology. I took the issue to the owner. It took nearly two weeks and repeated follow ups on my part to get a final response from Dr. Ayers. He ultimately acknowledged both the botched blood sample and the lack of apology and empathy. I asked for one thing: refund what I paid Root. I did not ask them to pay for the second vet, reimburse my additional expenses, or compensate me for all the time their failure cost me. They acknowledged the failure. They acknowledged how poorly they handled it. They refused to make any amends. I initially thought this was an unfortunate failure handled poorly by individual employees. After taking it all the way to Ayers, the owner, I came away believing the accountability problem at Root is modeled from the top down. I trusted Root with my cat's health. They failed. For anyone who wants the medical details: The replacement bloodwork led Root to suspect a blood parasite and prescribe medication. I had lost confidence in their care, so my cat never received Root's proposed treatment and I sought a second opinion. The second veterinarian told me stress from the repeat blood draw could have contributed to the abnormal results. Repeat testing showed the concerning abnormalities had resolved without Root's treatment, and the blood smear showed no RBC parasites seen. The second veterinarian instead focused treatment on my cat's gastrointestinal problems. Those findings gave me serious reason to question the medical conclusions that followed a blood draw my cat only had to undergo because Root failed to properly handle the first sample.

I called on Friday afternoon and begged them to not keep me waiting until over the weekend that I used the supply of meds they had her on and they said stoneman was in an appt. I called back before they closed at 5pm they said I'm number one on his call list. Never got a call. Husband calls them Monday afternoon and they said he was in appt. I call shortly after asking them to please promise me that I will hear from him before end of the day and explained the situation of how many times I've called and how long it's been again that they claimed I was number one on his call list over 5 days ago now and asked for my fungal test results but he was in appt and they would give him a note. Never got a call. So I called AGAIN right before closing at 5pm and they said they would be staying after close today and he'd give me a call. Never got a call. I'm just praying I hear from him first thing this morning, I really don't know what else to do other then just drive the hour into town and show up in person at this rate. I'm in disbelief of the whole situation honestly. It's extremely heart breaking the difficulty we have had with communication when in the begining the Dr was so great with us. I'm unsure why it's been impossible to get in contact with him for our results or why we have had to redo blood tests and be asked to bring her down to relisten to her lungs again when they already did that and X-rays showing inflammation. It feels like we spent a lot of money and time for no answers and with a little bit of a wrap around at this point. We were reccomended by a trusted source to come here and our first visit was so amazing that I'm hoping my experience changes because we did love the hospital and our Dr at first. He showed so much care and checked her (what we thought was so thoroughly) while getting down at her level and giving her love. After the two pricey meds prescribed and the unusual redo of blood tests and urine tests the costs are really starting my to add up AND QUICKLY. I fear they will only continue to do so carelessly and with no answers or results.

Dr. Stoneman got a hold of an ER record and took the time to help us get an emergency med kit to take care of her without going to the ER. A week later, I got another call and the vet had taken the time to review her records and make a recommended plan for long-term treatment of the issue. It is hard to find medical services that will take the time to care - Bluegrass Vet Hospital has taken the time and effort to care. Yes, it's a little pricey - but take a look at how sparse veterinary services are (not many people becoming vets) and to find a great one is a wonderful thing. I am grateful and will continue taking her there for her medical needs.

The sitter brought him to this veterinary clinic and they held on to him for over a week till we were able to return. They took great care of him and even made us a paw print mold that we cherish so very much. We have trusted Indian Lake Animal Clinic with our cats for years, and my mother has used this…read moreclinic for years as well. After what happened with our cat Cleo, we will not be returning. Cleo suddenly developed drooling and difficulty eating on Monday. By Wednesday night, her tongue was visibly split and hanging abnormally from her mouth. After she was seen at Indian Lake, we were specifically told to bring her back at 8:00 the following morning for surgery. I took the entire day off work, fasted Cleo for anesthesia, and drove approximately 35 miles from Nashville to Hendersonville to have her there at 8:00 AM. When we arrived, a surgical technician had me complete and sign the paperwork for her procedure. Only AFTER I completed the surgical paperwork did Dr. Maresha Cardona come into the room and tell me they were not going to repair Cleo's tongue. She told me the injury appeared very old, that they didn't know exactly what was wrong with it or whether something might be lodged underneath it, and that they could sedate Cleo to examine her tongue and then refer us elsewhere because they could not perform what they considered a complicated surgery. I declined to pay to have Cleo sedated there simply to be examined and then referred somewhere else. I put my injured, fasted cat back in the car and drove from Hendersonville back to Nashville in morning rush-hour traffic to BluePearl--after driving 35 miles in the opposite direction because we had been told Cleo was having surgery at Indian Lake. At BluePearl, their veterinarian examined Cleo, reviewed my video and listened to the timeline. Cleo had been eating and drinking normally before her symptoms suddenly began Monday. The BluePearl veterinarian told me the injury appeared to be less than a week old, not an old injury, and said Cleo would not have been eating and drinking normally if her tongue had been like this for a long time. BluePearl also characterized the repair as a relatively simple surgical procedure and expressed confusion as to why Indian Lake could not perform it. While Cleo was being treated, BluePearl called me about the antibiotic she had received at Indian Lake. I was told it did not provide the oral-bacteria coverage they wanted for this injury, so Cleo's antibiotic treatment was changed. If Indian Lake was not comfortable performing this surgery, I would have had absolutely no problem with an immediate referral. I could have taken Cleo directly to BluePearl. Instead, I took an entire day off work and put an injured cat through an unnecessary approximately 70-mile round trip, including Nashville rush-hour traffic, because we were explicitly told to arrive at Indian Lake at 8:00 AM for surgery. My issue isn't that a veterinarian decided a procedure was outside her comfort level. Referring a patient when necessary is responsible. My issue is that we should have been told that BEFORE being instructed to come for surgery and BEFORE I was handed surgical paperwork to sign. Thankfully, BluePearl was able to provide Cleo with the surgical care she needed. After years of trusting Indian Lake Animal Clinic with numerous cats, this experience completely destroyed my confidence in this clinic. I will never take another one of my animals there, and I will never refer another person to Indian Lake Animal Clinic.

I'm writing this review because my experience was both unsafe and extremely frustrating…read more I drove 30 minutes to this urgent care after speaking directly with staff and being told they could triage my dog and see her if I came immediately. When I explained that I was 30 minutes away, I was told, "Perfect--call us when you get here. We'll be waiting." When I arrived, I rang the doorbell and a staff member came outside to tell me they could not see us. I explained that my dog was weak, vomiting, and needed fluids as soon as possible. The employee went inside to speak with the veterinarian, but returned and said they still could not see her and that we would need to wait in the car for approximately two hours. I asked whether someone could at least briefly assess her or perform the triage that had been promised over the phone. They refused. When my dog was eventually evaluated at an emergency hospital, her blood glucose was 40, which is dangerously low. Being told that the clinic would be waiting for us, only to be turned away without even a brief assessment, caused a critical delay during a potentially life-threatening emergency. To make matters worse, the staff member recommended an emergency veterinary hospital that was approximately 1.5 hours away. She appeared extremely unknowledgeable about the emergency facilities in the area. I had to do my own research while dealing with a critically ill dog and found another emergency hospital that was only about 30 minutes away from the clinic. I am asking for accountability and a change in this clinic's procedures. Staff should not tell pet owners that their animal will be seen or triaged immediately if that cannot be honored. At a minimum, an obviously sick animal should receive a brief assessment, and staff should be able to provide accurate information about the closest appropriate emergency facility. No pet owner should experience this level of confusion, misinformation, and delay during an emergency.
