When they arrived they also informed me they had a trainee who buffed out some scratches, popped a dent out and cleaned the interior of the car, no charge ( double WOW). When I picked up my car I was told that all the repairs had been done, they allowed me to drive away in a vehicle that was later confirmed to be extremely unsafe, I drove my children around for over a month thinking my car was safe to drive in. When I contacted them to discuss the situation, its been nothing but a hassle. Thank goodness for a car dealership and insurance company that backed me up otherwise I would be out alot of money to fix the repairs that weren't fixed originally by Carstar. The manager and owner both were very dismissive and were very rude on the phone, the only person who was pleasant was the women on the front desk, unfortunately she probably is not in a position to influence either of the men to provide better customer service. Don't let the niceties fool you, if things go well I'm sure you won't have any problems however, you won't know that until after the work has been done. There are now four reviews on yelp for this company, 3 had very negative experiences and only one had a positive experience, that should speak volumes. I tried calling on about 4 different days but could never get an answer, finally I left a message that I wanted to have work done on my car. 8 days later - still no call back. I called again and left a message, they returned the call 5 minutes later this time and scheduled me in for Wednesday of the following week for a 12:00 noon valet pick-up in downtown Halifax. Noon came and went, so did 1, 2 and 3 pm. I called and left a message. I called again, oddly enough one of them picked up the phone, this was around 5:00 PM. When I asked what why they didn't show up or at least call I received this response - "Uhh well.... I lost the appointment book, I tried to import it into Excel but that didn't work...." "I'll call you for pick-up tomorrow at 9:30 A.M. if that's okay?". By now I'm becoming really skeptical! Next day, 9:30 A.M. comes and goes without contact. He finally calls me at 12:00 noon saying he'll be there within half hour. He walked into my workplace at 3:05 P.M.! I asked if he had paperwork for the valet pick-up, of course there was none!!!!! He only charged me the taxes. I reached into my wallet to give him $40 and he stopped me and said "$10 is fine, just come back." Seems like someone who is in it for real, who takes real pride in his work and ability to maintain a customer base through just doing good work on vehicles that need it. I don't understand the bad reviews, and I'm skeptical of how genuine the reviewers are being. There's always other circumstances that the reviewer doesn't reveal in a bad review. The reality that I saw was that Malcolm is trying to do more with less. When I went there, he had a ton of work on his plate and his business partner was away. So go in expecting a competent and capable mechanic who won't beat around the bush, and charges better prices then the competition. Although I had to drop my car off and bus to work and then pick it up at the end of the day, this was acceptable given the excellent price vs level of service I received. I'll be going back to Flawless Autoworx for future vehicle issues.
